i wondered that for a long time.
But yes, the answer turns out that there was more tac ships, ergo more tac KDF.
Which is fine (my main is a kdf trill eng) because I can get into groups
it seems to me that every person i click on in the city is a tactical officer. Do you think there is imbalance in this region of the KDF? me personally i think it comes with the faction. The idea of playing a strong belligerent war like race probably isnt going to attract many scientists : / Do you think this is hurting the KDF?
I mainly wanted a *KLINGON*, and tactical seemed the most fitting for that
Also, Martok is my most favortite klingon. BUt admittedly I'm a huge DS9 fan....
Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to the klingon Academy uniform,
I have one BO on my Klingon that definitely needs a downgrade :P
The first KDF I got to endgame was Yisie, (Alien, LtG, Tac, cruiser (soon to be respecced for raptor)). Next came Biede, (Alien, LtG, Sci, BoP), who I like the best so far. Now I am leveling up the first KDF I actually made Ruadh, (Alien that at least looks Klingon, BG3, engie, cruiser). I made mistakes with Ruadh's passives and aside from one space all are ground.
I have noticed that, within this thread, if a player has a tac they almost always have one if not both other careers in their stable of KDF characters as well. In that regard the stereotype that all Klings are tacs does not hurt the other career paths at all. It also implies to me that among KDF players extra character slots could be the most common C-Store purchase.
I have a tactical, a sci and I'm working on an engineer. I think the main reason you see alot of Tac klingons is because of the BOPs, due to being the iconic klingon ship alot of people fly them as they level up because they are the most flexible in layout. This means unlike the raptors you wont be stuck with multiple Tac powers you wont ever use (I'm looking at you Tac Team 1...) and it allows you alot of wiggle room for other combinations, also because of tac powers (The ones your captain gains) the damage it produces is not small.
I do however see at top levels tac officers fly other ships. Lets face it, tac powers on almost any KDF ships is awesome (I however still like bop's on sci officers popping photonic fleet but thats just me)
I have a Klingon Tac...omg how stereotypical
I as well have a Lib Borg Klingon Engineer, and an Orion Science officer..... I have diversified...but I as well see the main point of the thread...why is it that most people we contact are tactical officers?....
This month's "Ask Cryptic seems to somewhat confirm my personal experiance Fedwise: http://www.startrekonline.com/node/2578
Top 3 Player Species/Class combos:
1st place Human Male Tactical Officer
Indeed, it doesn't have to do with the faction, it's the human players.
My first KDF character was a Klingon Tac, too - but like xander2525, I did that mainly because it just seems to be the most fitting option for a Klingon warrior. Scientists and Engineers certainly exist in their society, but they don't tend to command ships.
My first Starfleet character (and first character ever, given that you have to play Fed before unlocking KDF) was a Vulcan Sci, though.
These days, the character I'm most frequently playing is an Orion Sci - not a proper Scientist by the meaning of the word, but focusing on the ECM/ECCM aspect of space piracy and the role of a medic for ground combat.
I tried a Nausicaan Tac first, because stealth and hand-to-hand sounded cool. Then I realized it wasn't. Now I have a pretty green engineer, or a green engineer who's pretty, definitely not an engineer who's pretty green.
Anyhoo, I like the KDF carriers, so Eng works out fine. Let my BOffs take the lickings in ground battles.
but I would say that I love my SCIs more for Sensor Scan
How much does a fully specced Sensor Scan take away from targets' damage resistance? My current spec is only at 9/4/5 and it's -40. I'm thinking of going down to two weapon types so that I can have the skill points to fully spec in it and maybe add PSW.

Seems the feel I got fedwise was not that too far off.:)
He's only a Commander, but enjoying using him in battle cruisers so far.

Liberated Borg - Engineer on my KDF character.

In short, Bops make tac officers..less sucky.
