What about those of us who have already purchased all fed ships?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
I was wondering what about those of us who have already purchased all ships (in my case everything) the c-store has to offer, we won't be able to get the type 8 shuttle pet. Is there any way to get the pet if you already have purchased the ships? I would appreciate any dev feedback, thanks.

Wow, that is surprising, I get the shaft for being a loyal customer. Way to go customer service and marketing. Thanks.

Yeah I feel the same way I have bought every single item from the store on release day and feel like im getting a royal TRIBBLE for doing so.

I understand Floridaguy, I have also bought 5 copies of the game to get all the preorder bonuses, etc along with a lifer subscription. I am a Star Trek collector in RL and I have approximately 500 items. This game and the c-store is an extension of my collecting and I like to have everything that the game has to offer, even if it is just shuttle pet. I certainly hope someone at Cryptic pays attention to this matter. I have been a fan of Trek for over 30 years(I'm 36) and have been collecting for 25 years. Not once since launch have I been unhappy with Cryptic or STO, until now. Just a week or so from that 500 day vet status, very disappointing.

    Feel sorry for ya.

I'm not surprised but I would hope they rectify this situation.

( its stuff like this that drove me to no longer purchasing Cryptic stuff)

Same way I collect everything in this game and fully support Cryptic this just bothers me Im being deprived of something for having supported them sooner than someone else did.

That's sort of sad! Cryptic should man up and say thanks to all of those who own every ship and put the damn thing up for you lot specifically for 5AT.

I can't help but wonder, when this decision within Cryptic was made, did nobody within the team even consider that there would be players who had already purchased all ships, etc from the c-store? I thought about this scenario and I have only had one marketing class in college, now why didn't those within marketing who have (I'm assuming and I'm hoping) marketing degrees reach this same conclusion, that it would honk people off. Especially those people who have dedicated so much of their hard earned money towards this game in support of Cryptic.

It´s just a shuttle pet. It does nothing but fly around behind you and vanishes in combat. It´s not the Holy Grail. :D

I have all the ships in the c-store, apart from the fighter and the retrofits. But i have at least two other useless and barely noticable shuttle pets.

You might not get it now, but i´m sure they will do a similar thing again (at the rate the sales and promotions pop up recently, probably soon). :)

I promise that no one sat in their chair and said "Let's see how we can annoy someone today" while stroking a white cat.

And we will look at making goodies available randomly in the future, too. The Shuttle pet is not going to be presented as a "Last possible chance" option this weekend, but I honestly do not know when it will be coming back and in what form.

Possibly but I will stiff feel shafted if I have to pay for it. It just feels kind of a like they are thumbing their noses at people who have bought ships...
Especially since they just had a ship sale where a lot of people bought a lot of ships. I myself bought 8 and the two fighters last week.

And now someone who waited just bit longer gets the new shuttle and for free?

Feels a bit like a slap in the face.

Wishstone, I appreciate your response, however I think I was misunderstood. I wasn't implying that someone sat in a chair with a cat (insert color of choice, I myself prefer tortoiseshell cats :D) deciding how to annoy people. I was just wondering if anyone on your end considered that some players have purchased everything in the c-store and would be unable to get the offer for the holiday weekend. It's a bummer is all, and I would like to also mention that if there were something else I could purchase to get the pet I would, even though technically shouldn't have to since I have bought everything except services...its not about getting something for nothing with me :o

Also, I realize that it is just a pet that flys around behind me, and if you see me in game, in sector space, you will see a Class F, Danube Runabout, Delta Flyer, and Perigrine Fighter on my six. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, I am a Star Trek collector, and STO is an extension of that. With that said, yes I do like the pets and all the other goodies via the c-store. Also, since I live in the great lakes area, there are no Del Taco's, never had an opportunity to get one back at launch otherwise I would have.

I'm not saying you did, but the fact that NO one saw that this might be an issue with people who have been loyally buying your stuff right away...

And I would really love if you could answer the following:

Doesn't this just promote the "never EVER buy something from the Cstore until its on sale or there is some kind of promotion" frame of mind?
Or is that what you guys want us to do wait?

Because if that's so I will definitely be waiting before I buy anything else for the Cstore.

You know, considering all of the people who keep getting "slapped in the face" with each and every single sale, offer or bonus that Cryptic puts out I'm absolutely flabbergasted that they continue to do these things. I mean, they have been abusing us by benefiting people who aren't us since Beta (remember that whole Fileplanet fiasco...? Travesty that!).

I mean, obviously we must all hate these sales, and the abuse they cause, considering the fact that each and every one is met by complaints (the same complaints too, and the same claims of slaps to the face) so isn't past time that Cryptic stopped with these shenanigans?

You know what we need from now on? Anti-sale weekends! Ones where every item in the C-Store costs an extra 50% or more! That way we call all be incredibly happy that we didn't have to pay that extra amount when we bought our stuff and rejoice at how great such the offer is and how much better it makes us feel about ourselves, our purchases and Cryptic as a whole!

And everything will then be sunshine and roses!

Make it so Cryptic... make it so!

You can check, I have never made one post about the cstore until today, so please don't include me in your banter, please read all of my comments so you have a complete understanding. Also, I rarely get in on the sales because I usually get the items on the launch day, and I never complain if it goes on sale afterwards, that is the nature of business. As I said before, I am just wondering how to be able to get it when one has already bought all ships and if it was even considered that there would be people who have already purchased everything and be unable to make a qualiflying purchase to get the pet. :)

Which is, ya know, kind of irrelevant.

You'll notice I was making a blanket statement, nothing about you in particular, and it holds true. Every offer, every bonus, every sale (and every time an offer is extended, like added pre-order or play test items to the C-Store, or even the announcement that Featured Episode limited time rewards would be reinstated with the reruns) we see the exact same posts every. single. time. And every time someone is apparently slapped in the face. Seriously, that term has been used for every offer Cryptic has made. It's basically lost all meaning at this point.

This isn't about you specifically, it's about the reaction in general.

Every time Cryptic does something like this people come along and complain, occasionally they bluntly flame the devs, and basically the whole affair, to one degree or another, gets spit on.

And thus in all seriousness I wonder; Is it really worth it? Do the sales and offers actually generate enough extra business to warrant all the negativity and bad word of mouth?

Thank you for not specifically referring to me and I completely understand where you are coming from, I have read the forums, I have seen all the haters, and I am not saying I was slapped in the face, basically just curious about it ( for example, I remember when the first few preorder items and tribble test items became available and sooooo many people had a fit over it, didn't bother me at all). I love Star Trek and I will continue to buy from the C-Store, regardless of when there may or may not be a sale, I get the things as I want them, getting the items is all that matters to me.

Well you got 20% off the ships, and people paying full price get a shuttle. Surely that would soften the slap in the face. And trust me, that shuttle if fun to have for all of 2 minutes. You activate it, say "yay" and then never use it again. you really got the better deal over anyone buying a ship full price just for the shuttle.

I admit to being very annoyed at this issue myself. I have been a lifer since beta as well, and have been snatching up every Fed ship that hits the C-store the week it is available (except the vulcan ship, I was not a huge fan and waited for the first sale after it was added)
I have even purchased the additional ship slots to have 1 of each of the high tier ships on my main toon.
Don't get me wrong, this is not a game stopper for me either, I have no intentions of letting this impact my game play. I do, however, think this will have an impact on my continued support through the C-store. There will be more sale shopping for me, and much less full price purchases.
Very disappointed at cryptic's response on this one.
Edit: just read the above posts about the workaround. Good to hear.

You can get the shuttle pet, as I have obtained it. All you need to do is get rid of a ship that you have gotten in the ship store, by decomissioning it at the shipyard, then go to the c-store and reclaim the ship you decomissioned and the shuttle pet will be there for you in special unlocks tab. It worked for me and several others here on the forums. Now I have the pet for all my toons, once you claim it for one toon it unlocks it for the rest on your account. Hope this helps.

That's a total slap in the face of everyone who had to pay full price for a new ship to get the del taco shuttle. And its a slap in my face because I actually had to drag myself to a Del Taco when the offer was live and buy food then was forced to eat it.

Naw, JK. Glad you got the ship.

But you see what people sound like when they start getting angry over nothing?

Yes and no, have you seen those commercials about buying the newest greatest gadget only to have them immediately announce a new one?

Well that's how I felt about the whole situation, I generally buy things well after they come out(so that they are really cheap) to avoid that kind of thing.
With Cryptic i tend to think I'm supporting the company by buying things right away.. And I don't complain if I miss out on a sale, I even borrowed many for the 50% ship sale this one just bugged me...

Mostly because many like myself would have waited just a day or two more to purchase the fighters if we had known...

And your right I was probably being a bit dramatic, but i just felt a bit shafted when I've spent 40 plus dollars on ships and because I did not wait a few more days I did not get a pet. Call it sour grapes if you want but most companies try not to aggrivate people if they have a lot of repeat customers.
I guess I may have felt a bit entitled. Its kinda like if you've gone to the same bank for 20 years but they only give the special treatment to new customers.
You start feeling a bit used.

PS: And to the guy a page or two ago who said at least I got 20 percent off my ships. I did not , I got 50 percent off my ships since I bought them (except for the Teir 1 ships and the fighters) during the ship sale. You have no idea how happy I was.

    P.S.S:
The work around did not work for me, and I cant seem to get my Refit nebula back... lol not my day.
P.S.S.S.: For some reason it worked when I gave a new character a Fighter, go figure.

    Oh, um

Go to the Shipyard, speak to Requisitions Woman, and scroll down to where the Nebula should be. It should cost anyone who bought it all of 0 emblems to claim it.

Same goes for MVAE if you got that, too.
