Excuse me for the uber n00bish question;
But what is the functionality of the new fighter craft released in the c-store?
1-Are they like SINGLE/WEAKER versions of the Klingon carrier based fighters (pets) that we can launch to defend our ship?
2-Have they added new fighter craft based missions for such vessels?
3-Can we launch them from our own ship?
When i heard about the shuttles i wasnt so very intrigued, BUT hot damn the fighters have picked my interest!
EVEN IF they are only novelty items they might be kinda cool, i dunno, BUT if there is some sort of use to them il get em right away!
My take on them is that they are the escort version of shuttles since they have two forward mounted weapons and carry cannons by default instead of beams. They are player flyable ships and can be used in replacement of shuttles for any mission (such as "The Vault") that requires a shuttle. You select to fly them at port just like you would any ship or shuttle.
A long, long, LONG time ago, players asked for fighters for both sides. The impetus was to possibly do fighter only PVP. It's a pretty even playing field in fighter only pvp.
It's taken them awhile, but they finally got around to making the fighters.
In the c-store (of course). Heh. But that's how that goes.

The arrogance of putting fighters in the c-store with no in game option to gain them beggars beleif, with particular reference to the fact atari is dropping cryptic.
Instead of rewarding players for sticking around, the seek to milk them even more. Meh.

Or, they haven't gotten around to adding them to an in game method yet and you're jumping the gun... :rolleyes:
