If that's what it takes to keep this thread alive......why not?Besides, theory crafting is healthy, and it would be a real shame if good ideas on how to improve the KDF (and the game as a whole) go to waste if this thread dies, gets necroed and closed for being a zombie.
I'll ditto that. I'd feel even better if I thought a dev were actually reading these nifty ideas.
Speaking of nifty ideas...
In Heretic's Duty Officer thread it was mentioned that the KDF counterpart to Diplomacy is going to be called Marauding.
Marauding includes raiding outlying Federation colonies or transports, bribing local officials, planting evidence to smear enemy Houses.
I'm not sure the word really fits all of those activities, but there ya go.
What would we like to see go into a system like that? It was mentioned that Diplomacy is eventually getting an overhaul, so now is a good time to be brainstorming what the KDF ought to be doing and getting in return.

Yes, that is something we would like to do..I prefer to do this from orbit as going down to slaughter the little people is not my style...lol...jk
So, Marauding. What would those missions look like, as opposed to the Diplomacy missions on the Fed side?
As described, it would not necessarily be all about combat in the normal sense. But should reflect Klingon notions of expansion and conquest. How about...?
- Making sure that Federation diplomat never gets to his destination. (Destroying escorts and capturing the diplomat's vessel)
- Destroying planetary defenses to force a planet to submit to Klingon rule. Could involve some kind of planetary bombardment game?
- Blockade of trade routes. Jamming Federation communications.
- Eliminating rebels/resistance fighters
- "Negotiations" with planetary leaders - figuring out whether intimidation or bribery is the right choice to bring a planet in line with the Empire. Which politicians to bribe and which to intimidate (and maybe which to eliminate or capture).
- Capturing and interrogating prisoners in order to get information the Empire needs.

I would say that these ideas are great... I would like to see all of these in the game as a verions of Klingon Diplomacy
- Planting spacial charges to blow up planetary defenses
- Investigating rebel activities in order to find the ringleader
- "Fighting Over The Planet": You have to defeat a rival House before you can claim tribute from a new planet.
- Press Gangs: The Empire needs cannon-fodder and menial labor; locate and capture potential "recruits" without alerting local security forces.
Wouldn't taking and fighting over a planet with another faction be something more of what would happen to an existing planet already in the custody of a Klingon House.
Well, zombies do eat people's brains...right? We wouldn't want any of that.
What I would love would be some form of cloak that can remain undetectable to the sensor grid of the Nebula. Kinda like a stealth fighter absorbs radar waves and such, perhaps there is a way to make it feasible to press a button and rotate your cloak's frequency to absorb the tachyon detection grid so instead of being detected, you might be considered or viewed as cosmic dust or something, or nothing of interest...or nothing at all..
Don't get me wrong, it's a good idea, it would restore a bit of balance taken away by that ship, not that I see it much in PVP mind you.... but it would be a start... Just input that power on every cruiser you see or every tac ship you see on the KDF side that is able to cloak.
Thoughts?
I could see a non-Klingon ship use the same kind of stealth technology that was used by the mercenaries in the TNG episode "Gambit",instead of a cloaking device. A ship using this tech could for instance be "invisible" up to 15km from a target, and targetable up to a range of 7.5km.
As for a counter to the Nebula's Tachyon Grid.....how about the ability to create sensor shadows, that when you are hit by the grid, you can create a number of "false copies" that can be targeted by the enemy? They might have detected you....but which ship to shoot at?Or how about a ship that can create a small nebula to hide in?Cloaked in plain sight.:D
I wouldn't mind a torpedoe that when inpacts the target discharges an EPM detonation for 3 km radius. All ships in that radius are rendered blind for 2 - 6 secs, and recharge abilities are reduced afterwards for 3 secs.
For the carrier what would be cool is a ship-to-ship assault module, where the ship once it catches a ship in its tractor, can engaged a marine assault module from the launch bays that would effectively "take over" the ship for a short duration of play like 15 - 20 seconds! The Fed players ship would literally turn on him, becoming MY pet! Wooot!
From a game storyline perspective, it seems as if the Federation is mainly concerned with the Borg whereas the Klingon Empire seems to consider the Undine to be a greater threat. The Undine infiltration was a major factor in the Empire's deteriorating relationship with the Federation.
It would be interesting to see some faction-unique missions that highlight the Undine conflict from the KDF perspective.
Also, I have an idea along the lines in which the Devs appear to be trying to introduce Federation players to the Klingons as more than a one-dimensional enemy in hopes that more players will want to play as KDF(one stated intent for the nature of their revisions to the Doomsday mission).
It might be beneficial to introduce a "teaser" mission in which the Federation player comes into contact with the Fek'lhri and are exposed to Klingon cultural beliefs. I think the Fek'lhri should remain a Signature enemy for the KDF and I am not advocating that they be opened up to the Federation as a normal enemy faction. I am talking about one mission that introduces them to the player and maybe creates enough curiosity that the player decides to roll a Klingon.
Similar Federation missions might focus on the Gorn, to expand the player's knowledge of that race and encourage them to try playing a Gorn. The only Gorn-specific missions we have now do very little to portray the Gorn as anything but violent humanoid lizards.
All the more reason to expand on that if CBS will let them. The book "Needs of the Many" has some anecdotal information about the Gorn and I have to assume at the moment that the book was authorized whether or not it counts as canon. I'd like to see the caste system/subspecies that was mentioned get fleshed out a little and more fully realized in the game.

I think 'Marauding' as a KDF version of Fed diplomacy doesn't fit very well.I would like to see a system where the different Houses act like political factions, trying to gain a seat on the Klingon High Council. Each House will give the player certain benifits as their standing among the Houses rises, but as this is a 'war' between Houses, those Houses falling from grace will become hostile towards the player,as any action taken by the player will aid one House at the expense of an other.
It's very much in the way the different factions behave in the game Mercenaries.

Yes, House Vs. House rivalries ought to be a part of the KDF experience. But wouldn't it make sense for that kind of a system to exist as a Fleet Vs. Fleet leaderboard?
Or are you thinking of something more like the Favor system used by DDO? Where there are specific missions that increase your favor with specific factions in return for some sort of benefit? I'm not familiar with the game "Mercenaries", so I don't get the reference.

Can Orions, Gorn and the other subjugated species be a part of any house. They´d probably be just minions, cleaning houses or entertaining their klingon overlords. Unless they´d have their own "political" faction. An Orion Syndicate Network, a Gorn Loyalist Movement and such. That would be great.
Just pick something, like uniforms or ships or missions and make MORE of it for KDF.
That in and of itself would pacify a ton of people.
And honestly I'm wondering why it hasn't been happening since the Federation just got a glut of uniforms and the like where as we finally get our 400 day reward and 500 day rewards.
Can Cryptic not just take a handful of people and assign them to the KDF content production team?
For starters we should probably look into fixing bugs and miner issues.
1. Turn rate of Seige Mode. Needs to be lessened from a -50% modifier. Even with RCS Accelerators that modifier turns you from an escort into an "OMG I can't turn."
2. Skill points from missions. Given that a lot of our current experience is derived from dailies and repeatable such as Good Luck Charm and Turret Killer they need to give a lot more experience considering the difficulty in getting them.
3. Bridge Packs: Several bridges in the C-store bridge packs aren't even finished. Some even have gaps leading out into space. Fixing these would go a long way to enticing people to by klingon C-store items. Because they need more quality in them.

In the game "Mercenaries" missions are offered to the player by the different factions, and most factions are at odds with each other,so most missions are actions against their rival faction.
At the start of the game you are neutral to all but one faction (this will never change btw),and performing certain tasks can raise your standing with these factions. However, any action taken against that faction will lower your standing with that faction, even to the point they see you as an enemy and become hostile.
The idea is that you support 1 or more Houses so that they can get a seat on the High Council, and in return reward you for your support. Each of the Houses will have different rewards for the player, but you can't be friendly with all Houses,so you have to pick and choose your allies (and your reward). The more influence a House gains within the Empire, the more they can do for the player. It's never a bad idea to have friends in high places.;)
5. The lack of an ability to choose to have your wings up or down on your BoP all the time.
Not going to happen, the Bird of Prey is ment to be like that, wings down is attack mode, wings up is cruise mode. If they changed it it wouldn't be Star Trek.
It would be an idea to make some bridges and interiors based on the Orions, Gorns and Nauscaans, I myself have been annoyed to have Klingon interiors and a Klingon bridge on my Orion ship, and it looks terrible.

I'll admit there is precious little canonical information about the Gorn.

The same goes for the Nausicaans and Letheans.
just a thought
And how does that improve Klingon content?
If our new Chinese Overlords like klingons more than the federation, then I think it sends the playerbase a message?
