C-Store Restrictions?

So I'm looking to take advantage of the C-Store sale by purchasing some of the Klink VA items...

But since I've never leveled a klingon before, I'm restricted from even buying them. And I can't buy them on my Starfleet VA's because its faction specific

What's up with that?

What rank are you? If you are looking to purchase one of the new T5 ships, then you would have to meet the minimum rank requirement. Otherwise, you can't buy them. Now, if you're looking to purchase the bridges or the Vor'cha ship skin, then you can buy them at any level.

The only Klingon LG item that´s worth to be bought is the Guramba, because you get one of the others for free by ship token anyway. The restriction only makes sense because buying a ship automatically puts it into your shipyard for whatever reason. Confused me when i bought the MVAM Prommie because i thought i had to claim it, but couldn´t because i already had it. :)

I guess what I'm getting at is that making purchases and receiving items are mutually exclusive.

Do I have to be a VA1 to buy Mark X gear? nope...

I think the restrictions are to prevent someone from accidentally buying something they can't use. How would you like it if you didn't ever want to have a KDF char, but you bought the Gurumba or the Vorcha skin by mistake? Your fed can't use those, so they'd be a waste of money if you don't plan on rolling KDF.

Are you sure you need a LG to buy that stuff? I haven't tried buying the VA stuff on a lower toon, but the CStore doesn't say you can't, it just says it unlocks it for all your VA toons. try rolling a KDF and buying the stuff with it, you just won't be able to claim the LG stuff until you hit LG.

    Edit:
Scratch that, I tried it and they were restricted

You are probably right about the restrictions being there to prevent people from not paying attention and buying something they cannot use. However, the "stupidity" prevention system needs to be changed so that those of us that completely understand what we are doing can purchase items regardless of whether or not we can use them yet. There needs to be separation between being able to purchase and being able to claim/use a faction/level restricted item. In other words, when someone tries to purchase an item that cannot be used by the purchasing character, the system should put up a user-confirmation, warning dialog that states: "Warning: You are about to purchase an item that you cannot use with this character. Item is for the <Insert Faction> faction, character level <Insert Character Level>. Your character is a <Insert Faction> character, level <Insert Character Level>. Blah, blah, blah.. rest of warning so that the user understands what's going on." "If you wish to proceed with your purchase click Purchase. Otherwise click Cancel." This way, everyone is accommodated. People that need their hand held, have their hand held, and the rest of us are not blocked from making purchases.

To back up my argument for this change. I was going to buy Atari points yesterday and take advantage of the 20% off sale. However, before making the purchase I did my homework, deciding what ships I wanted to buy and the total A-points I would need to purchase. All said and done, the 5, 1200-point ships I wanted to buy would have cost 4800 points with the sale. That's a 5000 point purchase which Cryptic did not get because I discovered during the "homework" phase that I could not purchase 3 of the ships. Upset that I could not buy everything, I did not buy anything.

I noticed this as well. Lucky enough for me, my Klink Tactical was close enough for me to get him to LG so that I could buy the ships. I bought everything on that toon so that I use them later on other alts in the different classes. But again, I just got lucky is all...

Too bad there are no uniforms that you can purchase on the C-store for Klinks.

I was close to having a VA on the Fed side, my highest being RAUH3. I even started leveling her to VA just so I could purchase the MVAM escort, but quit in frustration just prior to dinging RAUH5. The grind was unbearable. My trait choices were stupid, my build was outdated, she predated the introduction of diplomatic XP, and I had no attachment to the character. Furthermore, and I don't know why this didn't occur to me BEFORE I started grinding my Fed, I was never going to be able to get any of my Klingon characters to LG. Thus, as I said, I quit in frustration and decided I would not purchase anything at all.
