I'm a Canadian customer and I am wondering I can pay the US prices instead of CAD. I noticed that the CAD monthly fee is 15.44 CAD vs 14.99 USD. Given that the CAD dollar is worth more then US I'd like to just pay the US price instead of the inflated CAD prices listed. I know on my WoW subscription it is simply charged as US funds.
Is it possible to pay in the US prices or am I stuck paying more?
I feel you man. Every time the CAD goes higher than the USD (like it is now), Canadians get hosed. I may be wrong, but that $15.44 does not represent the current exchange rate. Billing should be changed to adjust this.
Not that I care, but would that not be classed as tax evasion?
LOL, no. Taxes have nothing to do with exchange rates. The problem is the c-store doesn't have a floating exchange rate, so prices in real terms are unequal across borders.
I just want to be able to pay the 14.99 US rather then have Cryptic decide how much it should be in CAD funds. I know with my WoW subscription it's just charged as 14.99 USD every month, nice and easy. CAD dollar is already worth more then USD and we're still getting charged an over inflated CAD price.
send a billing ticket, they periodically update the exchange rates every couple months, if you let them know that it's so far off, maybe they'll fix it early.
So, right now, you should be paying about 50 american cents less. But...
15.44 Canadian dollars = 16.20 US dollars.
$1.21 isn't much of a difference... but, it adds up. The real question here: If they switched every one to paying USD, would you then have to pay a fee for currency conversion?
When I went to Scotland, Bank of America slapped me with a 5% fee for that every time I hit a "hole in the wall" (ATM). The difference in price you're paying is about 5%. Lame, but that might be why. They might just be incorporating the fee into the subscription price.
