The Last Outpost - A different kind of RP fleethttp://last-outpost.net
Hello everyone, today I ask you three simple questions.
Are you looking for social gaming?
Do you enjoy RP?
Have you been frustrated by all of the rules and regulations applied by other fleets?
Then the Last Outpost may be just what you are looking for!
The Last Outpost was formed by a leadership council who had tried the big fleets and found them lacking. We strived to do better, and believe we have succeeded, allowing our members the freedoms they desire, whilst still maintaining a working structure.
Whilst STO is a new territory for us, we hope you will join us, and boldly go to new frontiers here and in our other game of Elite Force RPG-X
But now some information about the fleet;
Fleet Bio:
The Last Outpost is a Federation Regula Class Starbase located along the Federation/Romulan border, and is named as such because it is The Last Federation Outpost before you enter "deep space". As a result, in recent years The Last Outpost has been used as a storage depot for aid and relief uses. Whilst tensions in the area are slowly becoming easier, Starfleet has taken the liberty to upgrade and refit the Outpost, meaning only the supply areas are fully functional. In the meantime, Starfleet has diverted a wing from the 24th Fleet to defend the outpost while her crew pursue their personal projects....
Fleet Ethos:
Social Fleet with RP bias
Fun and enjoyment is what counts
Respect your fleet mates - no talking down or bad mouthing
Everyone welcome from total newbies to ageing veterans
"Open house" RP - you can play with whoever you like
Caters for everyone, in the form of organised PvP and STF runs
Bi-Annually voting for Council election - the membership decides the leadership
Uniform code which only applies during our organized RP
We look forward to seeing you out in the brave unexplored cosmos!http://last-outpost.net

Well, it's a cool idea for a fleet anyways *thumb up*
I actually had a friend helping too
Thank you for your support, I hope when we get the RP up and running we might be able to start one in RPG-X as well, as a sort of sister RP. Hopefully that'll reinterest people in that as well
While we are quite biased towards RP, we intend to make a fleet accessable for whoever wishes to join
Now you can talk to the members of the fleet from out of game If you have any questions at all, please head to http://im.lightwitch.org/?r=tlo and ask to your hearts content
Did you miss out on all the fun? Well you should join and then next year you won't!
The Last Outpost Bi-Annual council elections started today.
A week from now the polling will open and the new council will be chosen. Up for election this time is; Veritas, Jenson, Klaw, Telex Ferra and Brex.
Please join us in helping us determine our new council
Are you sick of the fleet that you are in? Do they tell you what to do and how to the play the game? Do they even tell you what uniform to wear?
If you have said yes to one of the questions then read on.
Do you like to Role Play?
Do you like to team play?
Do you want someone there to help you with an mission that you just can not comlplete?
Do you want to be in a friendly fleet and have fun playing?
If you have said yes to any of the above then The Last Outpost will be for you.
We are a new fleet, but with players who have been around for along time. We all have a love for Star Trek and Role Playing. We are a growing fleet with new members each day. If you want to know more or want to join, contact anyone from the fleet for an invite. Or leave a message and we will contact you.
So join to day to make the most of the Star Trek dream.

If you would like to request any other tutorials on many aspects of STO please don't hesitate to drop by and ask. We don't bite... much
Please note however that "helping many aspects of STO" does not include ways to work around the Terms of Service or any other rules enforced by Cryptic.
You know, finding a new fleet can be really hard sometimes. Do you go for a small friendly fleet? Or do you go for a large fleet that has more players then you could ever get to know? Do you want a fleet that will tell you how to play? Or a fleet that will be there to help? Do you want to be part of a fleet that is easy going and likes to have fun? Or do you want a fleet that is run like the US military? Do you want to make the most of you monthly subs?
Well we at The Last Outpost did not start life in STO like alot of fleets. We started off playing in RPG-X. All of us love Star Trek, and spend what ever spare time we have from the real world playing Star Trek in what ever game that maybe. We Started our fleet just over a month ago. The fleet is a dedicated to Role Playing. We like to have fun, and Role Playing is one of thse ways that we do. We do not ask much from fleet members. The main things that we ask for is that you help other team members when they need it, be easy going and have fun. That is important to us. We all pay a sub each month to play, so we want to have fun.
So if you want to join a large fleet that will tell you how to play and is run like the US military then I am sorry to say that we are not the fleet for you. If you want to have fun and try your hand at Role Playing, then get in contact with us. Speak to Brex or my self in game or check out the web-site link below.
Hope to see you out there.
Durir.
So if you are only here to play, then that is fine. We do not mind if you play once a day or once a week. All are welcome. If you want to do a little more then you can. But above all, we all have fun.
Does that sound like the sort of fleet you want to be in?
Then contact Brex or my self in game, or check out the link below.
Hope to see you out threre.

As we move into Star Trek: Online, were entering a whole new community far, far larger than RPG-X. Although Jenson head of External Affairs, he has many other responsibilities in TLO, and it has become apparent that it will be difficult for him to spearhead diplomacy efforts within STO as well as RPG-X all by himself. With this in mind, we hope to appoint a diplomat focused on STO both in creating and maintaining relations with other groups/clans. This is an important job that will likely be time consuming, so please do not apply unless you are willing to devote ample time to this. This is a very unique position that is a great way to become more involved in the community.
What are some of the duties of a Diplomat?
-Initiating and maintaing diplomatic ties with other groups/clans in STO
-Posting and responding to welcome posts on TLO/other groups forums
-Negotiating treaties with other groups under the direction of the External Affairs councilor
-Dealing with any diplomatic incidents that may arise with other groups and being a point-person between that group and the council
-Keeping tabs on major events/situations in other groups that may affect TLO or the community at large
What are some of the qualities were looking for?
-Professionalism and Maturity (this includes decent grammar/spelling)
-A friendly, problem-solving personality
-Willingness to devote time to the many duties of a diplomat, including checking forums of other groups regularly
-Someone with previous diplomatic or leadership experience (preferred, but not required)
-Someone ranked chief or higher (preferred, but not required)
To apply, please join our forums and PM Jenson.
Name:
Previous diplomatic/leadership experience:
Why should you be selected for this job?
Additional:
Applications will remain open until the morning of April 20th. If you have any questions about this position, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Post bellow and we can work this something out, the fleet belongs to the members here, not some overruling "god complex" or "dictatorship" like some other fleets almost publicly advertise!!
If you're looking for fun, then we're looking for you, check us out today
Also... we are the only fleet to offer a complete RP suite for free, however due to restrictions we are not allowed to go into too much detail here, so please come on over to our public website at http://last-outpost.net/ and click on the link for "New to RPG-X?".
Thank you for your time
What does being a senior officer of a sub-division require? People who understand their sub-division and can manage groups of officers working below them. Right now I am only looking for senior officers to manage the sub-division that interests them the most. That means that the senior officer will have to be very knowledgeable in subjects related to their sub-division. They will gather information from the officers below them and present problems that needs to be addressed to myself or Brex. You will be a member of the STO divisions advisory board and each Senior officer will represent a different elements of STO gameplay, and how we can make each part as exciting and fun as possible.
Below is a detailed description of each sub-division and what they require of the applicants.
Communications
You will be handling promotions and recruiting. This demands a member who socializes often in the STO community, whether it is on the forums or in game. Your objective is to simply keep members coming in, promote our fleet, and make sure that deserving lower ranks get their due promotions.
Tactical Command
Requires individuals who are knowledgeable in PvP strategy and builds. You will also be required (along with the members working under you) to set up PvP runs.
Exploratory
This position is one that I have recieved multiple demands for from different members. Exploratory is the RP sub-division of the STO division. This does not mean you have to be a part of the Exploratory division to roleplay, it only means that you have say in RP events, major storylines, etc. Your goal is to make the roleplay in STO as active and entertaining as possible.
Mission Operations
Your goals is to set up PvE events. This is another important sub-division that i would like to see fleshed out as soon as possible. You and your crack crew will be settings up teams, events, making decisions of what mission(s) will be ran. I'd like to see at LEAST one PvE event per week.
Material Supply Command
Your role revolves around crafting. This will require you to be at max crafting level and have a good idea of what equipment is the most in demand. You will have strong communications with the Requisitions officer(s) or other members requesting gear for the bank.
Requisitions
You will control the flow of the bank. If you are decided for the position, you will be ranked higher than Senior officers and will have full access to the bank, however, this also entails a slight more responsibility. Members of lower ranks will refer to you to make requests of certain gear and/or credits. Some pieces of gear may require you to send requests to the Material Supply Command sub-division. For example, if you get multiple requests for Tetryon dual heavy cannons, you would message the senior officer of Material supply command that this gear is in high demand.
Application
Simply copy the following, fill out the information, and send it to me via private message on the TLO forums
Name: Your TLO forum name
Toon name(s): List your main and alts
Position applying for: Insert the sub-division you wish to manage
What makes you interested for this role?
What makes you a good candidate for this role?
What kind of experience do you have related to desired position?
I will carefully examine each application and look forward to hearing from you all!
From: Commodore Director Brex, Commanding, USS Banting, NCC 93120, Assigned "The Last Outpost", Deep Space 8
Subj: A Sad Time with a Business Proposition
I am relaying a message from Omarg to his dearest... 'friends' and associates. Interesting this message has only just been received now... given it was dated over five years ago. I want everyone to be on alert for a Ferengi shuttle near the Starbase... followed by half a dozen Orion battle cruisers.
Signed,
Commodore Brex, Stardate 88997
Cont.
Deep Space Eight has been placed on heightened alert. Whist Omarg has been granted Federation asylum on the base, his ship and cargo has not. This means I am stuck with a million crates of Vulcan Spices!
Keep and ear out for any information you hear and check back here often as I want to know what exactly is going on. I am currently working on restoring atmosphere to the cargo holds. This station was falling apart BEFORE they started "upgrading" things... probably won't be fully operational until next year.
Anyway - I will leave a message when I have restored access, not to mention worked out what is in his computer banks.
Toon name(s): Stephanie (main) Tony (alt)
Position applying for: External Affairs (Diplomat)
What makes you interested for this role? I enjoy being an ambassador for the fleet and enjoy being the face and making a good example of what our fleet stands for.
What makes you a good candidate for this role? I am very diplomatic and I can usually resolve most problems without trouble or cost to the fleet.
What kind of experience do you have related to desired position? I used to rp on RPG-X and I used to be an ambassador on that.
Happy summer, everybody! Here's your monthly report on TLO's finances, progress, and division statuses. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact any of the Councilors or staff, post in the Suggestions Box, or post in this very thread.
Financial Report
Thanks to generous donations from Ernie Collins and Martin Thompson, we have met our goal of $14 for the month of May. For June, that goal increase one dollar to $15, and it will increase one dollar to $16 for the remainder of the year afterwards. This is to help cover our increased server costs after our transition to hosting our own dedicated. In addition, the Council has authorized spending of $10 on a trial run with another dedicated host, to investigate their stability and options for the future.
Here's more about our finances at a glance:
We currently have a balance of $196.08 USD in the TLO PayPal account Costs this month were roughly $33 ($20 - dedicated server, $10 - trial server, $3 - web hosting) ]As a reminder, next month is our one-year anniversary, and we will need to authorize $20-$40 (depending on length) for our domain name
Server Activity, SRPs and Events
Server activity has remained mostly stable this month, but unfortunately our server rankings did slide slightly from a peak at #180 on the Quake 3 server list to #225. However, overall activity seems to have remained high, and there have been no major server outages this month (as everyone can recall, we had some issues with that back in may).
On the SRP front:
Star Trek: Schisms, Volume IV - Revolution begins later this month with an exciting new episode; watch its forum for more Star Trek: Ulysses ends later this month. Its season finale is scheduled for this coming weekend. Star Trek: Frontlines continues through June, and has reported rising activity Star Trek: Banting begins later this month - see
the announcement thread!Additionally, we will be hosting two exciting member-organized events this month: Star Trek: Allegiance by Vanguard and Star Trek: Looking Glass by Andromeda. Allegiance's Crew Manifest and Date & Time poll are now online, and you can view its backstory here. We encourage all members and guests who have some free time to plan on attending!
The STO Division
Our STO division is continuing to focus on expansion and recruitment as we move into our second month. We plan to continue hosting groupwide events and we invite any TLO member interested in checking out STO to contact us so we can send you a fleet invite! Stay tuned for more coming soon.
Coming Soon
But that's not all! Later in this month TLO hopes to unveil plans for some exciting new developments, including changes and upgrades to RPGXCE, a forum upgrade, and some other website and server changes I can't quite talk about yet . Plus, be on the lookout for new STO events and recruitment opportunities very soon!
The Council would like to thank everyone on our staff and all of the members for your continued support. If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, we are always available to you.

Admiral Quinn contacted us today with a new mission. One Im not entirely pleased with.
Reccently Admiral TNae dispatched us to Iconia in the search of Empress Sela. Why the Portland was chosen for this I have no idea, and I really dont buy the closest ship on the scene bullcrap when we were almost 20 parsecs away either way, while we were there we came under attack from an unknown vessel, one that phased out within a second of opening fire on us. It was a concentrated Anti-Proton beam, cut straight through 4 decks and caused significant damage to the starboard impulse engine. Luckily no one was hurt.
After the ship disappeared we tried to scan for it, however there was nothing. Sensor logs also didnt capture anything reliable at the time. The Iconians seemed to have been involved this whole time. Im worried Obisek might have been right this whole time.
After this, I took an away team down to the planet the place was crawling with Remans and Romulans. We had to work our way through them, didnt even put up much of a fight. We worked our way down to the bottom to find the former Preator Taris. Almost 20 years ago since the Hobus incident she couldnt have cared less about the consequences of her actions, the Iconians have consumed her life from then. What must they have offered her, to kill her own people? Destroy her own homeworld? Starfleet wouldnt give me the chance to extract the information myself, the USS Lakota has taken Taris away to be interegated by intelegence. Lucky for Taris, I guess.
We destroyed the Iconian gateway which has left quite a large crater on the surface now. I doubt there is anything left at all, which is making me wonder why were being sent back there. Not to mention the Portland is a border patrol vessel, we have no adequate sensors to pick apart anything from this. Were en route, but only at Warp 2 Ill talk to Admiral Quinn or TNae in the morning about this.

The Iconians are coming. Be ready. The Last Outpost.
As we mentioned to you all a couple months ago, we wanted to implement a "town hall" type of council meeting during community day. This "Town Hall" will allow the council to brief the members about what is going on in the community, allow members to ask the council questions, and will allow members to address the council. Since this is the first time we're attempting something like this (and I'm not familiar of anything like this being attempted in any other community), we expect some bumps in the road. To help prevent this, we've put a system in place to help make sure that people who wish to ask questions/make a statement can be assured that they will be recognized and that we won't run out of time.
If you'd like to submit a question to the council, PM your question to Jenson. Please keep in mind that the rules of the CoC will apply during this event, so please frame your questions appropriately within the CoC guidelines. Also keep in mind that these questions should relate to TLO community issues, and shouldn't concern promotions or disciplinary actions by the council, as such discussions are kept private. As long as your question meets these guidelines, you'll be recognized to ask this question during the town hall meeting in the order your question was received. Once you ask your question, a member (or members) of the council will respond to your question. Please be certain to indicate in your PM if you'd like to actually ask the question on TS, or if you'd like Jenson to read it.
If you'd like to make a statement to the council, PM Jenson and let him know the topic of your statement, and a sentence or two describing what you're going to say. Once again, please keep the CoC in mind. A member may take up to 5 minutes to make a statement to the council, and the council will respond to the statement, if applicable. Again, members will be recognized in the order the statement was recieved. All statements to the council must be made by the member on TS, and can not be read by Jenson.
Although we will try to allow time for spontaneous questions during the "Town Hall" meeting, time constraints may or may not allow us to do so--so if you do have a question you'd like to ask the council publically, it's best to send them in in advance. Due to the time allotted for statements, all statement time must be reserved in advance.
This "Town Hall" meeting will occur after the awards ceremony on the TS server at 6:00 PM EST (11 PM GMT), and we're going to try to make sure it doesn't exceed an hour. The awards ceremony part of community day will occur at 4:00 PM EST (9 PM GMT).
If you have any questions, please contact Jenson. We're really looking forward to community day on Sunday (It's also our 1 year anniversary!), and I really think that this will help make the council more transparent.
Signed,
Flag Officer Jenson
Chairman of the Council
Since the council hasn't received any questions for the "Town Hall" portion of community day, we've decided to merge it into the awards ceremony portion of community day. The council will still give you all a report on the state of TLO, but everyone seems to be satisfied that they're "in the loop" of all that's going on in the community, which is wonderful news
Our main reason for using TS was to have a more interactive exchange between members and councilors. Several members have informed us that they either don't have mics, or don't feel comfortable talking on TS, so we've decided to move the ceremony to IRC, so the ceremony will take place via chat. More information about how to access our IRC channel will be posted closer to time.
Also, since we're merging these into 1 event, we've changed the time for the awards ceremony so that we are starting at 5:00 PM EST (10 PM GMT) this Sunday, July 10th.
We're eager to hand out these promotions and awards and to recognize members for their hard work that has helped shape TLO into the great community it is today. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday as we celebrate our 1 year anniversary with our first awards ceremony!
As always, if you have any questions/comments/concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me!
Signed,
Flag Officer Jenson
Chairman of the Council
he Last Outpost is proud to announce that our one year anniversary is here! July 10th 2011 will be celebrated with a special Community Day event, commemorating one year of roleplay and gaming here at TLO. Tune in for special live chat and ingame events this Sunday, including Council presentations and an awards ceremony! All members and guests are welcome to attend; learn more here.
Financial Report
Thanks to a generous donation from Grizz, we have already met and exceeded our donation goal of $14 for the month of July. Here's our financial status at a glance:
* Our current balance is $181.01 USD
* Costs this month were $51.10 USD ($19.95 servers + $3 webhosting + $28.15 domain renewal)
* We currently have enough standing funds to operate for another seven months, or another 3 months without going below $100 in funds.
Thanks again to all who have donated, both this month and over the past year - we appreciate your support!
SRPs & Server Activity
Though server activity slumped slightly this month on the regular RPG-X server, RPGXEF activity increased slightly, and TLO is proud to announce the following SRP updates:
* Star Trek: Ulysses had its finale last month! It is now competed. Congratulations to Telex Ferra for her successful conclusion.
* Replacing Ulysses is Star Trek: Dauntless, the winner of our SRP poll. Dauntless is written by Martin Thompson and Nancy Turton, and set to premiere tomorrow, 7 July 2011. Good luck!
* Along with Dauntless is Star Trek: Allegiance, a new mini-series by Vanguard and Grizz. Allegiance will be premiering tomorrow before Dauntless.
* Star Trek: Frontlines continues with its Season 1 finale this Sunday, before Community Day, and will then progress to Season 2!
* Star Trek: Banting continues next Sunday as well, before Frontlines, with its second episode - it's not too late to sign up!
* Finally, Star Trek: Schisms - Volume IV, Revolution remains on hiatus. A tentative resumption date has been set for mid-August.
Also, congrats to Grizz and Vanguard on their successful Allegiance event - the forerunner of our new mini-series! More events are in the pipeline; look for a new events poll soon.
The STO Division
STO division expansion continues under the leadership of Geoff Knightshade and Stark. Unfortunately, requisitions officer GSIO is currently on leave, but plans to return later in the month. More from the STO division heads is coming soon, and more events are planned as STO rolls into Season 4!
Finally, a word...
...from me, Veritas. I'd like to take a moment to thank each and every one of you, members and guests alike, for being here and helping to make TLO what it is today. It's been an incredible year - we've expanded far beyond what I'd first thought was possible, and it's all thanks to you. I can only look forward to another year of innovation for the RPG-X community, and another year of incredible SRPs, server events, and more. As always, both the Council as a while and I, personally, are here to answer your questions and help in any way we can. Thank you, again, for your dedication, work, and enjoyment.
Happy anniversary!
Shy greetings from Pinafore. ^^
You should keep us informed with the goings on at Pinafore
Meow, I will do that. *vorta hug*
I am pleased to announce that today marks our one year anniversary! If you had told me one year ago that TLO would grow to over 120 members, expand into STO, have 4 SRPs and a miniseries, be consistently on top of server rankings, etc. I would have thought you mad. Here we are, though, one year later and those are the numbers. But this group has never been about the raw numbers aloneand thats part of what has made TLO so successful.
Ultimately, it comes down to the contributions of you, the members, who have made this community into what it is today. We wouldnt be here without you, and I have been surprised time and again by the resolve of the members of this community. Part of the reason this community has turned into something much greater than I or any of the founders could have imagined is because of your contributions, it has given us a greater vision that continues to be molded as time goes on, and I have no doubt it will continue for years to come. I want to thank each and every one of you for your contributions to this fleet. Your presence here makes TLO the unique group we are, no matter what rank or positions you may or may not hold. Thats the beauty of this group, and something which makes us unique.
As we move forward into our second year, I hope you will continue to stay with us as we move past our first steps and grow even more as a community. Although its hard to imagine how we can grow further, I learned a year ago not to underestimate TLO or its members as we have done pretty amazing things against all expectationsincluding my own. I extend an invitation to all TLO members, foreign ambassadors, and our guests on the forums to attend the Community Day awards ceremony at 10:00 PM GMT (5:00 PM EST) on IRC. For more information on how to connect to the IRC, check our forums. I can think of no better way to celebrate our 1st anniversary than by recognizing our fine officers for their hard work and contributions to this fleet.
Signed,
Flag Officer Jenson
