Cryptic Pls Stop Taking Advantage

Why is it that instead of using there time to improve the game content and maybe extend the game lvls Cryptic are adding more and more to the C Store... Oh yes to make more money.

I have to say Cryptic i find this disgusting... I pay a monthly subscription like most people and i cant see why i should have to pay additional money to use an in game item ie a new ship. when in my opinion things like new ships and costumes should be included in normal patches... like most online games do!

Please stop taking advantage of the Star Trek fan base and lining your own pockets!

I have a feeling if this system continues you will loose a good deal of your community to games such as Star Wars The Old Republic and the upcoming Star Trek Game Star Trek Infinite Space

The C-Store is one of the ways Cryptic makes the money needed to add the content that people want, so I don't see it being removed anytime soon. There are ingame ways to get some of the ships that are on the C-Store anyway

I have a feeling you are wrong. Might lose some toboth of those, but it won't be because the C-store drove them off.

lol, too true. there's always going to be people that have a problem with the C-Store. And don't realize it funds content development, not hinders it.

So you are saying that those devs making C store items ships interiors bridges etc couldt make the same things that is needed to make missions. It doesnt matter if you make hallways for a ship or a mission right.

The thing is, if a dev can make all these things dont you think that dev can also make the same stuff that is needed for a missions. Then other devs will put in mobs space etc.I mean come on.They cant do it all but they can sure do alot in making mission content.I could be wrong but i dont think so.

making missions means making storys, wating for approval from cbs, design the maps, design the costumes, decide the reward the level limet, whether it'll be kdf and sf if it is they need 2 stories, and wate for approval again, decide the difficulty, test it on redshirt a hundred times, move it to tribble, fix any bugs found then move it to holodeck

for c-store stiff you rly just need to design the skin (for the visual stuff) test on redshirt and then go live.

so yeh i'd say that takes much less time, and funds mission making

I like the C-Store and buy pretty much everything there.

I would buy expansion packs with content from the C-Store as well if it keeps the game funded. :)

You do not have to pay additional money for most ships. You can earn them in-game.

    I'm a tad annoyed with C-Store myself.

I can easily afford everything on it, but to be honest...why is most of the new content primarily C-Store? And no one in their right mind will grind 500 emblems.... maybe if they were **** drunk for 4 months or literally had no life.

I know these are not make-or-break items, but the point is that, like I said, a lot of any new content is really just C-Store.

Cryptic seems to go with the belief of :

    C-Store > The Actual Game

Obviously you have never played an MMO before, or you would realise that a crapload of grinding to get some of the awesome stuff in a game comes with the genre.

But thats the problem with casual MMO's i suppose, it attracts the undesirable crowd that has a "gimme gimme now now" attitude.

With this belief, you need to do some research. Take the Morrigan/Skadi/Ares sets in FFXI for example. Those sets can take players months, even a year+ before they see even one piece. The most elite gear will always be the hardest to get, and considering you only have to grind emblems, STO players have it pretty easy.

No, the whiners just choose to see it this way.

Well if its such a waste of your life, then why play STO at all?
All it takes is like an hour a day of gameplay to get fair amount of emblems.

I've played multiple MMO's before, Cryptic just seems to have mastered the art of Greed.

I'm more for huge crafting sessions to create some of the stuff on the C-Store than waste my real life for 4 months grinding non-stop.

Obviously you've never left your house

Have you played this game? Have you seen their struggles over the last year to make this game worth it (i.e. adding klingon content, changing sector space, weeklies)?

I doubt they're even breaking even. Who the hell do you think is lining their pockets?

dude, the new SW's game has intention to do this, AoC started months before WoW, and WoW now does it too. there are you major players in the MMO universe that i have friends still playing. the things that are in the C-store are for show and tell. they DO NOT effect the story play of this game in any way shape or form.

further more, this is not a teen or child based game, just cause mommy and daddy is paying for your suscription but wont pay for your ingame clothes is not anyone elses fault. sorry son. but this game is not a kids game, you want freebies, go back to runescape.

PS-ive heard of a record increase in people returning to STO cause of the new stuff, i included. and as long as this stuff doesnt effect the game play im happy to pay.

    Your Out Of Line Mister!

Their Are People Here That Like The New Interiors And The Upgrades That Are Being Done.
As Some Who Has Been Here From The Start I Can Say The Cryptic Is Doing A Good Job Lately.

The Others Have Commented As Well Of This Fact This Is Not A Kids Game Nor Do I Wish It To Become One! Everyone Needs To Chill! No One Force You To Buy Anything Or To Even Play As Far As That Goes. As A Lifer And Some One That Is On Their 9 Character 6 Of Which Are Admirals ... I've Found That If You Want To Make The Game Last Longer Try Doing Personel And Captains Logs About The Missions And You Crew ... You'll Find That The Game Has A Hole New Twist And Rank Comes A Lot Slower.

As Far As New Mission The Foundry Has New Missions For You To Play! Have You Ever Played On Tribble There Even More Missions Out There Some Are Tottally Awesome And Adds To The Game. It Is What You Make It! This Is A Island If You Dont Bring Happiness With You Your Not Going To Find It Here! That's True For Any Life Real Of Roleplay!

Again I'll Remind You To Play You Don't Have To Buy Anything Form The C-store But If You Like What They Are Doing At Cryptic And Offering Great Stuff Like The Tos Bundle Pack And It Adds To You Fun What's Wrong With That? It Keeps The Game New In Some Ways.

If You Like Movies And You Buy A Dvd Player You Still Have To Buy Movies To Enjoy It And That Lasts Like 2 1/2 Hours And Maybe You;ll Watch Is Once Or Twice More And That Sound Like A Deal Right! Well The Thing I've Bought At The C-store I Use Almost Every Day And It Been Over A Year Now Say That About Your Movie! Sorry About The Rant But Some Peoples Kids!!!

every time something comes out in the cstore people rage over it and pretend like no content is ever added.

I would disagree with this statement. Everyone that supports the C-store says it has its own people working the art. Well if we didnt have half the team working on art for cstore, we would have more people working on game content.

In addition, the more items they have made for the C-store, the more items they continue to make for the C-store, and that definitely effects game play and development. The amount of c-store items has increased much more than actual game play content.

It seems that the more people are willing to use the C-store, the more TRIBBLE gets made for it, and that must have an effect on the development plans for the future.

Just the planning cycle alone takes days and days of white board time, which is not being used for other projects.

Continue to believe that C-store production and planning has nothing to do with the rest of the game, oh and i have a bridge for sale, email me in game.

A lot of iconic Star Trek stuff goes directly into the c-store. I guess that is why many people don´t like the store. Someone once mentioned it´s like putting elves and dwarves into a store in a Fantasy MMO. That statement has some truth to it i guess. :)

Well, the game is based in 2409 and the C-Store offering was for stuff based in the 2200s. It'd be like Modern Warfare offering a $15 dollar costume pack that gave you American Civil War uniforms and weapons. They are purely vanity items.
