With all of the talk about the new Federation ships and uniforms and Remastered Missions, and now of course Gozer tweeting about yet anotherFederation Mission that he's going to be Remastering, I decided to make a list of all of the things that we Klingon Players have received this year. All of the things that we should be grateful for.
Klingon players now have access to the Psi Velorum Sector Block.

I'm not worried though. Because I'm expecting a ton of Klingon content and clothes and ships right after Season 4. After all, Dstahl said that he won't be adding a third faction until the Klingons are "where they need to be". He also said that his wish is to have playable Romulans in game by September, 2011.
I don't see how they can do it, but I have faith. Of the heart. And I for one am grateful for all that we Klingon Players have received from Cryptic this year.
I am grateful for ANYTHING we can get. Unfortunately, it is very slow and very little compared to Federation stuff. Still, it's something and I'm glad that we're not forgotten. I just wish that we can get things a bit quicker, though.
As for seeing the Klingons fleshed out before Romulans come around, then I wouldn't hold my breath. I seriously doubt that it will happen.
And I'm sure that the Romulans would have even less than the Klingons have now. And the vicious cycle of the Federation being Cryptic's "favorite child" would continue with the "green" faction.
Personally I don't think they've added anything I care about to the KDF side since launch, except for the PvE stuff and sorties, but that's kinda said out of selfishness because I see quite a few people who flies around in the c-store ships.
I know when I seen the announcement of a Vorcha skin added to the c-store I immediately put on my flame retardant suit before scrolling through the forums. I just made it to LG KDF side and I know the BoP has very limited skins, so I have no experience with cruisers - but if they lack the skins the way BoP's do I don't understand why the one skin Klinks get they have to pay for. New ships like the gurumba? Completely understandable going to the c-store, but a skin for a ship that has one maybe two skins as it is? That's BS.
I'm grateful for the things that have been added, but I'm not grateful that KDF at early levels still feels like a demo. I honestly don't understand people who say that Feds aren't fully fleshed out, because I had a blast leveling and customizing my Fed characters, I don't see how much better it can get other than the upcoming remastered episodes and fluff.
they need to take a break from adding more Fed costumes and uniforms, they need to give Klinks more options for customization and something to introduce new KDF players other than just throwing us in and saying "Here's a BoP and bland missions with low SP rewards, have at it!"
I think UGC is going to fix a lot of that, but we desperately need more skins and costume options. I don't expect to be on the same level as Feds, but the lack of costume options alongside content in general gives me a migraine.
I am very grateful for the things we've gotten, but I can't help but cringe that every other week there's a new Fed thing on the c-store and we get something MAYBE once a month, if that.

I agree that a renewed focus needs to be made towards the KDF. However, the most vocal Fed supporters will shut you down faster than you can say "Ludicrous Speed". And, as history has shown in the forums, the louder the voice the better the reaction from the devs.
Maybe it's just me, but I don't feel grateful when I'm only getting what I've paid for.
Of course I've also been told that I have "entitlement issues." Specifically that I feel I'm entitled to received what I was told I was going to get in return for my money. But I'm kinda weird that way.
More than half of the team is working on Klingon content for Season 4 at the moment, so I can assure that I remain committed to improving the KDF faction and have done so with every release.
So I guess now we have something definite to look forward to.
So I guess now we have something definite to look forward to.
I remember when Season Two was being called the Klingon patch. Remember what we got? Sure, it was awesome, but we still got very little. Frankly, I'm taking a wait-and-see approach with Season Four.
But there is only ONE thing I really want for KDF. Yes Uniforms and Ships and all that would be nice. But it's fluff. What I really want, is EPISODES! Not weekly series. Klingon Specific Episodes.
Since they said we will be getting twice as many FEseries every year now, why don't they have a fed and Klingon Series alternating. I mean everyone is already used to getting 5 a year (Kinda) on a non regular basis! That would make me happy beyond belief!
Yeah, except that's all they've been asking me to do.
We were asked to withhold judgment until the 45 day patch. Then we were asked to withhold judgment until Season 1. Then we were asked to withhold judgment until Season 2. Then we were asked to withhold judgment until Season 3.
And now, while we're in the midst of a flurry of stuff being given to the Federation, we're being asked to withhold judgment again, this time until Season 4.
How much longer do we have to wait? How long until we're allowed to just say; "Hey guys, we're getting screwed here"?
Well I am not denying that we getting screwed, we ARE big time. But all the seasons are in the past, and I judge season to season. (And season 2 rocked for Klingons) So I will judge how they are doing imo as of late by season four.
I remember when Season Two was being called the Klingon patch. Remember what we got? Sure, it was awesome, but we still got very little. Frankly, I'm taking a wait-and-see approach with Season Four.
Agreed and that's exactly why I took a break for about 9 months. Sure we got some stuff and I am grateful for that. But it really wasn't all that much and I'm tired of feeling like Oliver Twist with a ridged forehead.
Ater 40 Day patch fail and the Season 2 loss to put us on par with the Federation I'm not grateful at all
If Atari / Cryptic would have properly advertised as STARFLEET Online I would never have bought it and put so much hope in the development of the KDF with so few things in return. The Devs have definitly lost my faith forever.
Disembodied Barry White music is not about to start up, is it?
(goes on the defensive, looking around suspiciuosly)
KLINGON DANCE PARTY!!!!!!!
I'm going to withhold judgement until Season 4 is released. The sad part is my expectations have dropped, which is why I took a break from KDF and only just returned to it.
So while we wait ........ KLINGON DANCE PARTY!!!!!!! KLINGON DANCE PARTY!!!!!!!
I think after a year of the game being live, it's fair to pass whatever judgement you see fit about the status of the Klingon side of the game. With this much time under the game's belt it's time to stop making excuses and start delivering. I want to believe that more content is on the way, I truly do. But I'm not drinking the cool aid till I actually see the content that we have been asked for so long to hold our judgement for.
When this game was announced the Klingons were to be the PvP faction. Some Dev said it...I don't know who. Then the complaining about overpowered Klingon ships started by Fed players who don't know how to PvP(most still don't). Then content griping started and the Devs give the Klingons 8 episodes, Sorties and equal access to the FSE's. The Devs have said that Klingons won't have as much content as Feds. Again I don't know who said it.
I have a Klingon character that I've leveled to Major General doing the stuff mentioned above. i leveled him to Captain from PvP alone. I have no problems with the Klingon Faction as it currently is.
I agree that a renewed focus needs to be made towards the KDF. However, the most vocal Fed supporters will shut you down faster than you can say "Ludicrous Speed". And, as history has shown in the forums, the louder the voice the better the reaction from the devs.
As sad as that is it's very true.
It's pretty sad that AGT uniforms were more in demand than basic KDF stuff. That just blows my mind.
Sometimes I wonder if it's because KDF players arent as vocal as they should be or if its because we actually have that small of a player base, which raises another question - Do we have a smaller player base because Klingons just arent as interesting or is it because we have such a lack of content?
Personally, I'd like to think it's the latter, and believe it or not I've debated that to myself for a while before deciding on the conclusion.
I don't think we'd ever be as big as the Feds, however I do think that we are stuck in a cycle that prevents us from having a player base big enough to get what we want/need.
By being stuck in a cycle I mean that the majority of players wont play a new klingon toon for more than a couple of hours because of lack of content, and we wont get more content because people wont play Klingon toons for more than a couple of hours.
You'd be surprised by how many people don't play Klingons just because it's so friggin boring. I love playing my Tac LG, but it sucked leveling him up and it was one of the lamest, most repetitive things I've ever done in any game.
Twist: New Update = the Fed Kling war ends as it is discovered that the iconians are to blame for all their conflicts. Fed + Kling become one faction, all updates shared equally territories etc etc.
Not quite sure why that popped into my head, but as an old school klingon who's pretty much just given up on content and gone to the dark side, I thought it seemed strangely fitting/foreboding o.o
Pretty sure there's some people shitting their pants as they read this :P

Well according to the engineering report recently put up, all the episodes on Fed side featuring Klingons is going to be adapted to the KDF and be told from a Klingons perspectiuve, which will be pretty awesome in my opinion..
I've heard KDF players complain about the sad state of affairs in their faction since STO launched and assumed that it was a PvP thing. I was wrong and I apologize for that.
I decided to make a KDF crafting toon, mailed all the mats from my Fed VA and maxed out in a couple days. Then I figured I'd try out the KDF PvE content (sorry, not a PvPer).
Early level Klingon faction PvE is, at best, where Fed PvE was at launch, quality-wise. KDF PvE is very buggy. I think I've submitted more bug reports in the past two days for my KDF toon than I have over the entire time playing my Fed. Scanning doesn't work worth a TRIBBLE in outdoor ground missions, BO's won't follow 'attack my target' commands for some targets, some missions literally can't be completed, some weapon graphics are bugged, I've had ground weapons just plain not fire (character moves like the weapon fired but nothing happened), my toon reverted to old-style running on some ground maps (short run duration with longer recharge), the C-Store cruiser bridge apparently has screen windows in it since I can see the star field while walking to the turbolift, etc, etc.
Judging solely by quality, it's obvious where the Klingon faction ranks in the eyes of the devs. The more I played the more astounded I was. If Fed missions were this bad a year after launch STO would be screwed. Only the lifers and newbies would be here (and the newbies would leave after a month or two).
And was the Great Hall laid out by a blind Pakled? Holy cow. ESD has everything pretty much grouped together in nice, defined areas. Even pre-remodel. On Qo'noS you have to run all over the place.
Do we have a smaller player base because Klingons just arent as interesting or is it because we have such a lack of content?
It was the lack of PvE content for me. I don't have the time or interest to get good enough at PvP to make it fun to me, so without PvE content the Klingon faction didn't offer anything. But because of the way crafting is set up, in order to get Mk XI disruptors for my Fed VA without selling a pixelated kidney I needed a KDF crafter. That's really the only reason I have that character.
Don't get me wrong, I like the whole Klingon shtick. I really like the look, the ships, the attitude. None of this 'we'll beat you down if we have to but then give you a band-aid' stuff. When Klingons beat you down they drink bloodwine out of your skull. You gotta admire that.
You'd be surprised by how many people don't play Klingons just because it's so friggin boring. I love playing my Tac LG, but it sucked leveling him up and it was one of the lamest, most repetitive things I've ever done in any game.
I'm tired of the T'Ong Nebula. Really. Tired. But I actually like the Klink exploration missions better than Fed missions. That is, when they work. But yeah, PvE leveling is kind of a drag. The Bringing Down The House story arc is very cool, though. It's way too short at only two missions, and it needs to be remastered, but it felt very Klingon. There definitely needs to be more missions like that.
So again, my bad about not putting enough stock in the KDF complaints. I feel your PvE pain now. I would definitely play more Klink-side if there was more content. I'd be willing to wager that's what's keeping a lot of people from getting their ridges on.
EDIT: I read that the devs intend to make Klingon characters available without having to get a Fed character to 6. With the current state of Klink PvE, I think that's a mistake. IF they give a thorough bug-fix pass to Klingon PvE prior to allowing 1st level KDF, then fine. Otherwise they'll be shooting themselves in the foot ("Hey! Welcome to the KDF! You liked our new tutorial? Yeah, it's awesome. So let me show you how to submit a bug report for the rest of the PvE content..."). It will just highlight the worst aspects of Klingon PvE play.
I am grinding what little PVE content Klingons have to get my guy up to General for my NEGH'VAR battleship (hope I spelled that right). I am doing the fight againt the cardassians missions in the ChoS nebula, over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over...you get the point...I WANT MY NEGH'VAR DA****T! I remember when I got my Fed up to max lvl (RA5 at the time) and I was complaining of no end game content, then I started my klingon character....I quit bit**ing!
Indeed, leveling a Klingon toon is pain. The story arc from bringing down the house is good and has potential.
When STO started there were so much more KDF players aroud, now it's only a shadow of it's former self. Regretably the Devs are more interested in putting up more stuff for Feddies on C-Store then making more Klingon content.
How bout a Cardassian story arc, i would love to slash up some Jem'hadar. or perhaps we can have some fun Hunting Hirojen? perhaps even adding a new Dynamic to the game, such as every trait having leveling effects and activatable abilities, got a thread for that, will help both sides(cause you know when we get something the feddys have to get at least 2, if not 3)

I started a fed toon, and have managed to in just over a month of an hour or 2 a day get him almost to admiral, no serious grinding, my Klingon took over a month of hard hard grinding nonstop to get to level cap, i think i lost my sanity along the way as i went plasma simply to watch the feddys burn, yup lost it, let me know if you find my marbles in the Chos nebula.
Just got my fed toon to RA, wow i am still amazed as there is no end in sight for content, maybe i should have done fed first, might not have lost my marbles.
ps still looking for my marbles, let me know if you find them.

There are possible ways for content of KDF vs the Cardassians. Could be either against the True Way or help the provisional government.
