EDIT: Another thought just popped into my head. The idea of vest without a shirt underneath has been brought up.. what about also having an option for the chest armor pieces that are in the game now to be worn without shirt underneath?

Nah, I'm kidding, I'm actually sounding argumentative just because it's become a habit for me around here in recent days. I completely agree that we need ships first, but I honestly think we need more ship skins before that.
I say that because I think in order to give the KDF a stronger player base (so our PvE and other stuff becomes higher on the Dev's priority list) we need to keep the new players entertained in whatever way possible. New ships only means new things for people at end game, everything before that is just grind and lack of customization.
I don't think anybody here disagrees with you, but I do think new uniforms are in the top 5 things that Klingons needs.
This topic is of it's own subject, if you want a thread for new Klingon ships then make one with some suggestions and please, don't reply to this with "It's not my job to come up with ideas for new ships!" because every new ship the Feds have got since launch has began as a suggestion in multiple threads.
Retrofit galaxy, defiant, and intrepid were added due to high demand by feds

NX enterprise was added due to high demand
Excelsior was added due to high demand
Vulcan ship was added due to high demand
Nebula was added due to high demand

This is a very serious problem that the Klingon's face ... and when they get here the Romulans will also face it (or any other factions that might get added). Star Trek was a Federation-centric show. Only the Feds were in every episode, everyone else came and went. And because of that there's mountains of Fed stuff for every Klink or Romy ship / uniform / what have you.
So it's kind of imperative to get what little there is in cannon into the game. Past that though Cryptic's art team can go crazy (and I highly encourage them to do just that).

Here's an idea. Why not allow species specific skins for ships? We already have frigate, cruiser, and battleship versions of Orion, Nausican and Gorn vessels, why not allow them to be used by the races in question, using the lower versions at the low tiers instead of only getting a 'battleship' ship skin once you hit admiral?
This way there's something unique to the KDF side that can be added with a minimum of additional artwork assets.

he/she like so many others are still thinking that KDF stands for klingons when it doesnt, KDF is orions,nausicans,letheans,gorn and klingons and to be brutally honest the only race i have never seen a ship being used by a race in that list is letheans all the others have had ships used in shows and have plenty of cannon behind them, and i mean ALOT of cannon in the other races ships.
the sooner people realise that there is more then klingons in the kdf the better so cryptic can take the blinkers off and start giving us some real content and not just scraping the barrel for klingon content.

Yes, but sharp and shiny is not something that KDF does well. I like the idea of kits showing on the uniforms but with different uniform pieces added onto the uniform. I think the problem is the fact that the existing kits are the same thing but fashioned 1 way.
Perhaps when they move the level cap, they should make a kit for KDF and a kit for feds. That way, the kits can be made to appear on character uniforms. This way there can be a KDF look to a kit, and a FED look to a kit and not have a problem with them sharing the same artwork. I don't know about the coding, they could find a way, but I think it would/should be possible.
This would be great, though I agree with mister_dee and LittleTerribleRomulan that they need to have different visuals than the Fed versions.
Aye, they need to have different visuals that make it look very harsh, instead of shiny and sleek...I have no concept art, but if we could make it look harsh or utilitarian in nature, then I suppose people would be happy...

Nope they are probably not, even though "the Path to 2409" does not have any statistics regarding the ratio, does it?:)
But to say they are the majority and therefore no other ship choices should be made possible kinda reminds me of the attitude certain Federation players display who also base their line of reasoning on the majority-minority issue.

I must agree. In order to not adopt bad habits all races in the KDF faction should have vessels to represent them. Several KDF faction players only play Gorn, Nausician and Orion, they deserve ships to to fulfill thier fan wants.

well actually yes they are if you think about it, the klingons are 1/5th of the kdf the others are 4/5ths making the klingons the minority of the kdf if the other races are stacked against them. but within the kdf they are all 1/5 of the kdf and as such are equal in the war efforts of the kdf.

We don't know how many planets the respective powers involved in the modern KDF have, nor how densely populated those worlds are and we also have no figures regarding the percentage of their population that's in the KDF military.
For example if for the sake of argument the Gorn had twice the population the Nausicaans have but only 5% of the Gorn population were in the KDF while the figure is 20% with the Nausicaans, there would be twice as many Nausicaans in the KDF.
But we don't know that and neither is it relevant whether the KDF is 10%, 50% or 90% Klingons or not.
Those other races are around, they're part of the KDF and so are their ships whatever their class or function may be.
So they should be represented in the KDF as well, correct?

KDF at least needs the ability to select what species their ship is from, even if that's the only difference (same consoles, weapons slots, BOff stations, but different look). It would probably be the easiest from the dev's perspective.

Something I have to agree with. My feeling was that Cryptic was, and still has biten of to much then they can chew. The company's business conduct is horrible to say the least and they have done much bad to the IP and the game already. T5 200 year old ships at tier 5 to say the least. The compnay to me seems clearly overextended with the Star Trek Licence.
Cryptic has admitted that their previous works were not "up to scratch" and why they have a reputation as a medicore developer, I believe this was stated when they announced the NWN game. In all honesty, the Neverwinter franchise is in ruins after Obsidian's attempt at following in BioWares footsteps (again), yet the Star Trek franchise, even after years of butchering and ham-handed attempts to cash in still remains strong.
In my opinion, working on STO would reap far more reward then trying to bring NWN back to life. Using that money to make a purpose built engine for STO so they can open up the 3D space combat and add that TPS aspect for ground combat. Take the designers from that project and use them to flesh out the bare-bones that is the Klingon's, actually make them a true faction rather then the current ad hoc excuse for PvP.
Once both sides are roughly equal then the interesting things can happen, sector warfare, planet control and raids into enemy territory. These things can't be put in game with the huge population imbalance, yes the Fed side will always be more popular but there are people, like myself, who favour the aggresive style of the Klingons.
