Should Costume Be Via Emblems And C-Store?

SystemSystem Member, NoReporting Posts: 178,019 Arc User
With the ships all now being emblems/marks and the c-store, should the uniforms go the same way?

Even if they are still limited by character I think this would be a good thing to do. Maybe somewhere 100 to 200 emblems for a costume unlock seems in-line with the respective prices?

I would agree that Emblems can be used for costumes.

I'd be all for that. I've been a proponent of making everything in the C-Store attainable in-game...even if it's via an emblem grind.

I'd be for this as well. But I can just see the outcry if it's 500 emblems per. ;) (Seriously though it would be nuice if everything in the -Store could be attained by in game means as well.)

    I totally and completely agree.

Heck, I think all C-Store items should be available via Emblem Grind, though not excessive amounts.

Personally I find 500 e for a single ship on a single character.

    Grind Emblems or Spend Money.

Are things so bad with the game that these are the only two options?

I looked at this thought the other day - I worked out that the average cost in emblems for a uniform would work out at about 120 emblems, thoughts? (this assumes about 240 Tokens per uniform, scaled based upon the Emblem to C-Store ratio for ships)

Though if it went this way, surely it should be possible to earn uniforms earlier in game than at VA?

ID have to disagree. Whats the point. I think if you want junk then yes you should buy it. Emblems should stay for ships and only ships. Cryptic wants their money from the people who wish to buy useless items lol so i dought they will fork over this suggestion to emblems.

Agreed, but we may not like the amount of emblems that are required, I am thinking 300 to 350. I again state I don't believe that we can blame Cryptic for the increase on the emblems to get the ships. The increase from 200 to 500 sounds to me as if the parent company called and stated that the number must be changed.

    Look at it this way:

With the exception of us lifers, Cryptic would be making money either way. We can either pay the sub fee and do the grind or we can pay now and get our instant gratification. It's win-win for everyone except for those who are adamantly against the C-Store's existence, period.

Also, taking your logic literally, Cryptic would have to remove any other purchasable item from the emblem vendors beyond the ships. Remember, you can still buy consoles, weapons, shields, etc. with emblems. Why not expand that to include C-Store bridges, costumes, races, etc?

I've been begging to make things available via in-game means practically since the glut of additions over half a year ago or so. Frankly, if it's through an emblem grind, that's fine by me. As long as we get an option I'd be happy.

Being able to use emblems for ship or character costumes works on 2 very important levels....

    1. Gives players at max level a reason to log in and play = another months subscription/more value to the life time subscription.

    2. Adds more content to a game that is very content lite.

I say - why not. Ideally, everything in the C-Store (even "services") could be acquirable via Emblems. The cost need to be set high enough to make it not trivial and the extra-income C-Store stop being extra in-come, but Cryptic seems to have little difficulty to making stuff pricy in Emblems, so... :)

My thought: Everything in the C-Store should be available via in-game means.

While I'd have no problem with Emblems, I like Acceleron's idea of using GPL for custumes.

Here is it in a nut shell. I said back at the start of it all that this c-store would be the death of STO. once i saw that the function was operational on day one and the game was not even complete i knew this was going to be a gemmic. Lets face it people. the c-store is the shark and we are the bait. we all jump in thinking its all for the bettter of the game yet only to be fooled its for the better of someone pocket to give us cheap tricks and then have us pay for things that give us an edge yet at the same time telling us nothing in the store will give you an edge. Notice how that statement isnt said anymore" I just started to wonder was i dealing with a politician.

I left aion for this game and by far i wish i had supporters who would stop feeding this shark. the c-store can sell items. No one is knocking that from them. when the game itself starts to make sense though. When the game mechanic arent based upon a feature ep and then the game goes into an all time bore for months. then a press conference come out saying oh we are going to add something but dont know when isnt that great. this store was suppose to be an addition to the game play not a main focus of game play. you want to focus on uniforms and cheap polar trick to keep slave like by all means emblems galor. hey why not sell emblem packages in the c-store lol

i bet you they will soon enough. pretty much selling everything else " waiting for special replicator to go on the shelves"
