I bought this, been waiting for it for a long time and its great, loads of fun.. however my one critique is that ANY cosmetic changes you may have on your ship like the Reman shield, Borg set, AEGIS set etc.. is ONLY applied to the part you are flying. The other two parts just go to a default skin.
Now I'm sure there are "technical" reasons or whatnot as to why this is the case, but its a real shame that all three parts cannot retain the outward cosmetics that the ship as a whole normally has.
I noticed that too, along with the fact that when your ship recombines, the two "pets" take on the look if the base Prometheus. STO Wiki has a list of "bugs" that have appeared with this ship:
As of the 11th March 2011 there are a number of known issues with this feature:
As with Saucer Separation ability, separation cannot be performed while moving. When the ability is activated, the ship will come to a halt.
The two vector pets will not inherit visual effects such as Borg components from the Assimilated Borg Technology set or the Romulan-green glow from the [Reman Prototype Covariant Shield Array].
When re-combining, each of the vectors takes the default Prometheus class appearance.
The alpha vector (the saucer section) turns around the original 'spine' of the combined vessel, giving it an odd turning circle.
The two vector pets do not show the player's name above the ship name in the game's HUD, making it easy for opponents in PvP to identify the vector being commanded.
The alpha vector may not display a warp nacelle when separated. This can be fixed by visiting a ship tailor.
I think the devs mentioned before, in the Tribble forums that this was a limitation and that that's just how it is. A bummer I know but I wouldn't forgo MVAM for it.
Kinda strange, you can reform while moving but have to stop to split.
You think it would be the other way around?
yeah, it should be the other way around
i just finished watching the TNG episode 'Encounter at Farpoint', and i noticed that at the point where Riker had to manually reattach the saucer section, Data looked and sounded a little bit nervous (or at least as much as his emotionlessness could show)
now, this was with the ship standing completely still, so of course with both parts moving would be a lot more difficult
