Can we please get the Steamrunner class for tacs please? I love the ship and think it would be a great addition to the existing ships. Out of all the "First Contact" ships Akira and Saber have been made for STO. The only two that remain from "First Contact" is the Steamrunner and the Norway classes. I hope that these are future projects for STO. What do you all think?
I really, really want to see the Steamrunner and the Norway, but I think they'd be best as skins for the T3 Heavy Escort rather than making a completely new ship type.
They need to both add steamrunner/norway components for the T3 heavy escort, as well as add a retrofit T5 heavy escort that has access to all the same hull parts.
Color me confused, I could have swore I just traded in my steamrunner which I flew for the enterty of Lt Cmdr. It's one of the skinns that shares the class with Akira. I honestly cant remember what it was called, but I do remember excitedly picking it because it looked just like the Steamrunner from Star Trek Armada II.
The Oslo is the Norway and the Zephyr is the Steamrunner. Score one for the Devs, they gave you what you wanted before you even asked for it!
...except they aren't. That'd be like only putting the Excalibur in the game, and calling it the 'Constitution'.
Besides, the Norway and Steamrunner may look similar to the Oslo and Zephyr, respectively, but they're actually a mite smaller than the Akira-type ships - they're lighter combat vessels, more like the Saber in that respect.
Me, I'd love to see them and any other canon ships not currently in-game:
- Ambassador
- Oberth
- Steamrunner
- Norway
- Olympic (the proper 'All Good Things' version, not the lumpen mess currently in the game)
- Nova retrofit (as seen in VOY 'Endgame')
- Constellation
- Raven-type
- Wells timeship (only as an NPC ship - loves me a bit of time travel! )
- Daedalus (yay - more time travel!)
...except they aren't. That'd be like only putting the Excalibur in the game, and calling it the 'Constitution'.

Yes the Oslo is the Norway refit, and the Zepher is the Steamrunner's. No they are not the same, they are poor mock-ups. I am not asking they be removed, I ask that the spade shaped Norway, and the horizontaly eliptical saucered Steamrunner be added. The Zepher is okay for those who like the smooth lined hulls, but some of us like the more jagged and rugged apperance of the Steamrunner. More skins and customization options are always better.
I also like the idea of adding the Tier 3 Escorts as another Tier 5 refit. This ship could be used as the Federation's carrier.
Looks like someone needs to watch Endgame again. The USS Rhode Island is a Nova-class variant. You can see the Nova deflector dish as it flies past Janeway's shuttle. But it is rather cool and would give another option to Science Vessels. And as for your list, just be patient. The devs have already announced both the Ambassador and the Oberth as upcoming ships and I'm sure things like the Steamrunner, Norway and Constellation will become available in the months ahead. You might be a bit hopeful wishing for a redesign of the Olympic-class though.

...because it's one of those horribly-designed kitbashes from the Wolf 359 debris scene, that uses several different scales of AMT/Ertl Galaxy-class kit shoved together with a highlighter pen?
It's bad enough that the Centaur and Cheyenne made the cut - next we'll have the 'Raging Queen' and Yeager thrown into the game as well, and I'll be forced to stab a carving knife through my monitor to save my sanity from those eyesores...
Oh, and CptShrike and Capt_wirge spotted this and called it out already, but I meant Nova-class retrofit for the Rhode Island from 'Endgame' - silly typo on my part...

id love me some yeager. i actually rememebr seeing this thing fly on the screen in the one episode it was in. i was like "wtf i need that".
then it was a good day.
the ebst solution, remove the notion of ship teirs and instead put in bridge officer layout teirs. that way you can use any ship but the bo layout would be the thing that improves with level (the actual ships though would have hull based on their size and whatnot or somthing).... ok so maybe a hybrid of this that way youre encouraged to use the newer ships but not forced. or something....

Of all the Kitbashes, that is actually one of the best. The Nigagra, Freedom, and Challenger classes from The Best of Both Worlds PT.2, and the Rage Queen, the Elkins Consitution/Intrepid, and U.S.S. Jupp Consitution variants were just horrible. The New Orleans class U.S.S. Kyushu was better designed speifically because it would be the most visible and readily scrutinized ship in the graveyard sceen. While they were not good resolution, Michael Okuda did manage to take some pictures of the ship before he smashed it up. Those images can be used to model the New Orleans class. Many places online already have done so, in fact.

Joking aside, I would love to see the St(r)eamrunner as an extra skin for the T3 HE ships.

umm you mean this ship

looks very much like this one but refitted

which happens to be the Nova Class.

Your lack of New Orleans-class disturbs me.
You and me both. I would also like the Springfield-class added as well.
I thought that the Akira Class was supposed to be the Federation's Carrier, carrying the Peregrine class Fighters.
