Come on Cryptic, what stunt are you trying to pull?

Those who don't know, we got a new Bridge Set that was snuck in under the radar.
  • San Fransisco
  • Zimmerman
  • Eaves

Since there was no pictures in the C/Atari Store or on the Homepage, since It said "Sovereign" Bridge Pack, I thought this might be one of the first authentic Bridge Sets, the Sovereign's being the first.

Well, I was wrong. Instead of a entirely new bridge set, its just the same bridge set as the Alliance / Ceremonial / Diplomat / and Star Explorer Bridge set with a new paint scheme. And honestly, I feel like I've been scammed. Even if it was for 96 Cryptic / Atari points.

So Cryptic, would you please explain why are you giving us rehash of an already existing bridge pack and giving it the misleading label of the "Sovereign" Bridge set. Especially when it doesn't even look remotely similar to the Bridge we saw in First Contact, Insurrection, or Nemesis?

I would appricate your end of the angle.

But right now, I personally think you should give us who expected an authentic bridge, a refund.

What you should have done was waited for screenshots or asked around before buying blindly.

Well, it's not like they can't update it in the future... and yes, I spent 96 points on it too. It still fits my Sovereign better than the Galaxy-class bridge I had been using did.

They could make the forward stations U-shaped (like the helm and conn in Nemesis), get rid of that second set of consoles in front of the captain's chair, and basically shrink the bridge accordingly, whille still keeping it big enough to accommodate the camera.

The fact it wasn't "announced" at all is puzzling, even though it still qualified for the 20 percent off sale.

It couldn't possibly be any worse than the 'intrepid' bridges.

    I wonder if it's another Q oopsie... ?

But Hell, I got it for the 96 CP's just cause.

Actually, Eaves is very, very different from the others.

It has a different Captain's Chair raised on a platform with the Blaze/Atlas round ceiling light added.

I know, I got it too. But still not the Sovereign's bridge.

Hmm, I say it is. To me it's just a revamped Galaxy Bridge with steps than ramps.

And by then the sale would be over. :p

True, they could update them. But would they? After all the Intrepid Bridges are still questionable.

Right now, seems like they are wasting their time tweeking existing bridges, when they could be using that time to make authentic bridges. Which is what everyone wants and has been asking for, for a year now.

Chances are these bridges weren't ready to be released yet.

On the plus side, no upside down textures, BOFFs on chairs, or gaps in the geometry.

Visually underwhelming but technically more proficient than those before. I like that the Zimmerman has boffs moved a row back, compared to the others.

Be interesting if these weren't ready to be released yet. If so, then people should get a refund since it wasn't a finished product.

As for the bridge, I honestly didn't notice a difference compared to my Ceremonial Bridge.

If they got the time to tweek existing bridges, then they should use that energy to make it authentic.

    • Eaves' cieling and command chair/dais are different
    • Zimmerman has a small dais and four boff flanking the command chair (without consoles).
    • San Francisco is the most generic of the bunch. I didn't nothing anything that different.

Small changes but they make me wish the Foundry allowed us to do this.

Well, not trying to tread on your toes or anything, but for as long as people blindly buy things from the C-Store on top of paying monthly fees, the guys at Cryptic will sell bridges with a simple palette swap. :)

What stunt? I guess the same as with the Intrepid, Galaxy and Defiant packs. Their own 25th century versions of those bridges.:D

Sounds like something got turned on early. Lets not overreact just yet.

The odd thing, there were patch notes ages and ages ago where they were tweaking one of the Bridges and it was labeled "San Francisco" - when we queried them about what it meant, they told us that they have different internal names for the bridges than what we see in the client when we select them.

So is this maybe an ancient tester bridge that accidentally got posted to the Store?
