Def gem doesnt have anything to do with your max hp... its 1% less dmg you take for every def lvl, so it matters on what the person is hitting you for, if he hits me for 1000 and I put 10 def +1 gems, he will hit me for 900 instead, thats 10% less dmg... as far as vit stones go, its all about class...
