If your using axes go sage, you need the chi gaining skills. If your using another weapon with axes, go demon. If you use any weapon besides axes, go demon.

Actually speaking, the build for swords and poles aren't too different. You can do 5 str 3 dex and 2 vit for both weapons. Swords attack faster, helps you build chi. It depends on what you like to play. Personally, I went for sword/fist and its going great for me. Polearm/sword is a decent combo because of the linear aoe of the polearm and the swords skills for 1v1. The only thing I would say is cap vit at around 60.
