Well, their rank 8 weapon has a chance to stun for 3 seconds. Just their regular attacks alone stun a decent amount of the time.

You won't be squishy if you have +12 gear or wear robes and equip +def accessories or be heavy, turn into a fox when you are being attacked by a melee class, etc. So many ways not to be squishy.
