Certain mats don't add -channeling to your equip. There is a chance to get it when when you make armor or weapons but its just an extra stat. You can also buy some in cat/cow shops or check AH but like before, be prepared to pay a lot.

Any lower leveled pet that you train will be better than a pet you catch at a higher level ^w^. Even if it only 1 level difference. For example, the Crystaline Magmites north of Timberfield are better than the Volcanic Magmites right outside of Human FB19 ~but only just a smidge~
