They have less money and if they happen to bid on the same piece of land as another (blind bidding process) and happen to get outbid, they do not get a refund if I understand correctly. Thanks everyone for the replies! Very helpful. As much as I would like to get the rare skills, I will hold off a bit. Prefer to spend the coin on skill upgrades and gear for now. When and if (BIG IF) coin is not an issue, I'll consider switching out one for the rares.
