that was it for me! thank you very much... was getting all naked characters before changing my wine settings, and starting with one always errored out... now it's running better than it ever did under windows :)

as i stated in my original post, all other higher end games work fine... wow, silkroad, magic world... and dozens of others i've tried but don't really care for. on a side note, robbed another pc of an ati raedon agp card, will be swapping it out when time permits
