Also, pets won't gain xp from mobs a few levels lower then it. If you kill one level 22 mob, and it's at full xp, I'm sure it will level.

I noticed this too, expecially in my earlier levels. It happens a lot when a snowflake in the area up north, falls very close in front of the camera. So it's not the screen flashing white, it's actually just displaying that snow flake up very close. The cherry blossoms around Sanctuary do can do this as well, and any spot…
