But they have a skill to heal themselves based off the damage they do. Why give yourself more HP when you'll be needing to pot it more anyway? More damage actually improves survival for these guys too.

same here. noticed it when i was grinding and getting away from too much agro. instead of landing on my aerogear above the mobs range, i would glitch back to the ground and be hit by the mobs. didnt happen before the patch.

That formula refers to your level. I know this, because my guild mates have noticed a drop in defense reduction after getting a level, even though their defense remained the same. just wondering, will the genie skill "chaotic spirit" be changed so that it can be used in squad? atm, it can only be used against enemies in pk or duel. If not I'm dropping it, because i thought it could be useful in parties where the cleric needs mp or the tank needs quick hp.

You're right about that, so the only way to be 100% accurate is to use these two formulas and use the shard corresponding to the largest value... Survivability for +X Def: HP/(1-(Def+X)/(Def+X+40*L)) Survivability for +X HP: (HP+X)/(1-Def/(Def+40*L)) before putting on buffs with a % increase of HP or defense

I'm not sure, but that would mean defense is worthless in those cases. If anybody is planning on PvP'ing, this thread is going to be very helpful. Same with normal PvE grinding or instances unlike what you mentioned.

You could have 9999999999 defense and even still, adding just 1 more point will give you a better ability to tank than adding 1 HP past 3.2k HP. Go from 1% reduction to 2% reduction and you wont notice much difference in the time it takes for you to die. I see almost everybody has this idea, but your forgetting that this is actually reducing damage not increasing survivability. Consider having 100% reduction in damage. Both defense and hp buy you time in a fight. I tried to show what one will buy you the most time. According to this it wont matter how high your defense already is, once you reach 3.1k HP, adding more defense is always more effective (for fighting physical enemies ofc).
