Who's having issues (lag, dc, can't connect)

I was having lag issues a while back but considering it was storming fairly heavily in my local area (didn't remember to run a tracert at the time and had other things to do anyways) it wasn't really that big of a surprise for me.

In the ~5 minutes I managed to connect to the game, 6 different faction mates complained about either severe lag, or having to attempt 10+ times to get in as I have

4 friends each told me the same in game, 3 more are talking to me on skype unable to log in.

I am trying 3 different accounts (accounts were made before the current rules), sometimes I'll get to character selection, but usually don't even get that.

I have connected to two other MMO's just fine. Connected to an online TCG just fine. I'm not the only one having these issues, I'm not the only one going to play other games because of them...that sound you hear, is the sound of money going away from PWE to companies like the big snow storm.

Tech Support forum is the correct place to post for tech support. If people are too illiterate or stubborn to understand that (not counting those who are genuinely new and didn't realize or the like) then that's their problem and me moving it is what I'm supposed to do.

You're asking a general question about connections so no this isn't something that needs to be moved there. Sure I could technically claim it's a more tech management related topic, but I'm fully aware that most flock to General anyways and stuff that can get by with being here tends to be left here.

Your statements show a clear bias even if unintentional. Yes, the people in your faction with connection issues are going to complain about it... what of the other potentially 194 faction mates? The folks who aren't having problems aren't going to be complaining that they aren't having problems, so only going based on those who do have issues is going to present a skewed point of view by default.

And you have to remember, your connection to one thing has no bearing whatsoever on your connection to something else. I've had times where I can surf everywhere on the web with ease except for Youtube which was mysteriously being slow without it having maint or a like even though Google's a big company that has tons of server hotspots to minimize people having that issue.

There's more to the internet than your connection and your destination. There are always going to be multiple stops and an issue at any stop can **** a large amount of people over regardless of if the final destination is running smoothly or not.

We already know PWI has their own screwy ****. Times are gonna be messed up on everything til next maint because of the Daylight Saving's one they had out of nowhere and without warning so we could at least plan in advance. The fact they didn't put up an advanced warning here and on Morai was pretty bad in and of itself and when the screwup is solely on PWE's end I'm just as fast to point it out as anyone else.... but I'm also gonna point out when people are blaming them needlessly and that's becoming more and more common. Like the folks yelling at the messenger when his bosses are the ones at fault.


Also, I need to apologize somewhat. I have been way more blunt and abrasive (compared to normal anyways. I'm not exactly nice and you calling me a twit didn't help :P) about the subject.... but seeing the same thing over and over where people make wild claims, don't present any details or information, and then get pissed off when called out on it does get rather annoying over time. Especially when it leads to defending a group you're not really a fan of defending but you're too fair to just let them get all the blame when for once they aren't at fault.

There is clearly issue, first I heard bout DCs/lag/etc was yesterday but the ratio of people with issues has clearly increased today. I doubt its servers itself but some hub "right before" servers. I havent had any problems so its hard to say more than that.

Could be a number of reasons,

To many to count. If im having issues I alwayz restart my system clean including any main connections (Modems etc) then look at the rest of the options. Its also good to have a backup I can use my phone to test the connection PWI uses low Bandwith so its not gr8 but its playable.

To be fair you can check the trace routes but the system uses a few IPs so that may give u missleading info unless you check all. One other thing worth looking at is the possiblity its local to your area or system. granted others are in the same boat but... anything is worth a look.

O BTW are u still having issues or all sorted now?

Sweetiebot please report server status. again not 100% but it will give you an idea of the overall server status...

I am force to log on to say that Lost City is lagging all day!!! Please shut off server until it's fixed and extend 3x/2x event, lost 1 day already!!!

As has already been pointed out it does not appear to be a server side issue. Shutting the servers down wont make for a fix in this case. As this is something thats out of PWE control I think that a hard call to ask for at this point.

TBH not much anyone can suggest apart from ride the storm. Yes sure u can do a few checks as well may give you a little more info, Tho Im sure things will settle down at some point soon.

I'm having issues too. Everything just stopped working and responded 3-4sec later then I froze and poof, dced.

When lots of people from all over the world, have the same trouble at the same time, just with THIS game. I dont think its a "check your net" trouble.

And yes, maybe (or maybe not) its not a pwi server issue, but its a pwi issue, since CUSTOMERS cant reach the pwi business.

Its like you had a McDonalds on a street, but the street is blocked by a truck. Yes, its not your truck, yes, its not your street, BUT YOUR MCDONALS IS EMPTY.
So what would you say to your customers??? "Please, call townhall to repair unblock the street" cause you, the customer cant reach the restaurant,
or should be THE AFFECTED BUSINESS, WHO SHOULD DO ITS BEST TO FIX THE TROUBLE.

A 500m year company i think that have more possibilities to be heard by ISPs than a guy claiming he cant play a game, dont you think?
