    Yeah the game wasn't meant to be a dating game. Marriage system can be used with mutual friends. o.o;

Kris - How many times have you been hit on by women with a male toon other then possibly a barb?

    Me? None xD

That is the reason that it isn't a big deal. :P

    -

I concur with Skai. Say 4 years back when I had about 4 friends around. We had no problem sleeping on one bed. Well maybe one friend but we picked on him sooo ... yeah. xD

I have a few female toons, some because the male version are ugly but mostly just because who cares? I don't know why this is such a big deal what gender of a character you play.

I've been hit on several times too, but I dismiss it all because it just weirds me out. Though from time to time I do enjoy trolling them xD.

And yeah that's the word Kris! Double standards...

I just find it odd. It seems like guys are looked at as perverts and all that other type of stuff, if they play a girl in a game. I would like to know why this is.

I believe its just a product of the monogamy-based society we live in. Typically, males compete for the most prized source a woman has (a womb). Women usually do not have to compete for males, since they ultimately hold the keys. Therefore, males in human society compete for females (as is the case with other animal species).

However, there will always be males that outperform their peers. Those peers are overlooked and often have to resort to slightly more dastardly acts if they want to win their prize. The worst of these techniques are things like sexual assault, harrassment, etc... thus building the public image of men as the instigators of that sort of thing.

That then translates to a smaller scale - men stare at women, etc. Then, apply that to a game: You get why a male creeping on a female is more stereotypically "bad". A male playing a female character builds the sort of "wolf in a sheep's clothing" sort of idea, leading to bad opinions.

Ofc, I'm young, so I have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about. Feel free to correct me.
    Forever overlooked.
    Forever forgotten.
    Forever alone.

This is a good thing. People don't notice me, and they don't notice the knife whistling towards their throat.

You've never seen 2 women fight over a dude have you? It escalates waaaay too quickly.

Seriously reading the above post was like watching a lifetime movie.

But we're not going into the massive RL misconceptions you have. In terms of gameplay a male playign a female character is like playing peach in super mario smash brothers. Level of mattering = 0.

Made female sin and female mystic because the males of those classes look dumb as hell.

I don't know about that honestly (It all depends on how much practice you've had on figuring out the (Character Creation ~ App) The Male Mystic I made is pretty Bad A**ed looking for a mystic and it was all without any (Ini-editing) and just used the basic PWi~Character Creation App .....

Eh I dislike how all the male chars are super buff... even casters

Personally I'm 6'1" irl and weigh in just under 180 these days so its not like I'm against fitness. But dude they all look like disgusting level body builders unless you use the absolute min settings and even then they're like 300 level buff.

    It's pretty gross.

it helps that sans heavy modification all the males look like they should be packing names like "fernando" and cleaning pools in short shorts to bad 80's elevator music.

Oh I've had my share time of "fun", just because my archer doesn't look trashy or ugly ingame I've had people hitting on me since I made it until today with a few people who doesn't accept the fact that I'm a guy and repeated it multiple times. A lot of people told me that a guy can't make a character look as good as I did which means I'm lying about my gender lol so they continue hitting on me for whatever reason they have.

I feel so very bad for girls who play games when so many horny guys lurk around on this game. b:surrender

Godz I loved the way you put that commentary (It was a riot).......b:chuckle

Anyway, thats not really what the pictures were posted for (they were actually posted to show how well 1 can make male mystics look, when one is really used too and even adept at using how much the Standard Character Creator offers ya) but anyways I loved how ya said your comments lol!!! so thanks on giving me some laughs about things, I rarely get them much anymore do to how Annoyingly distracting RL can be.... b:victory

PS: If it helps ya at all about the opposite of what you can do with the character creator My own mother used to play PWi in year~ 1-1.5 of the game and I showed her how to make her own BM & Wiz on her own computer while she was learning the creation tool....

((In the end she wanted to make 2 male characters, so we made her BM ~ Ogre /and/ WIZ ~ Booger (from the 'Revenge of the Nerds' movies) ^0^ Heheheee!!! So they weren't to buff, they were quite comical looking.....))

Ah well, a MMORPG is about freedom, even of gender choices.
I admit I got female characters, it's all about "not to have to look at a guy character all day", a sexual preference like others said, but also artistry.
But again, when it comes to fixed characters in a game (offline RPGs, fighting games, FPS, etc.), I don't really mind playing characters of either gender, with bonus points if they have a great enough backstory and personality.

I didn't give any persona to my characters (I have twelve of them. They are all active, potent fighters), I am fond of them all. I don't roleplay either and my gender is generally not easy to find, since I express myself in a neutral way (making the guessing by others even more amusing).

Here is my stance on the dangers of roleplaying (including scamming), it is a link since I hate to repeat myself -it is from a fresh thread dedicated to that topic-:
    http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showpost.php?p=19415571&postcount=36

Oh and for those who get all disgusted and confused by gender roles and the stereotypes in our modern societies... "sex sells" and yes, it can be quite sad at times. b:surrender
But again, I am hardly following the "mainstream" universe now (TV, movies, music, events, others).
Maintenance time. Please choose a line:
    - When is it over? OMG I need my fix!! *super spazzing*
    - Fix the damn bugs, dammit! I'm so angry! I'll quit!!
    - New codes out there? I like free stuff~ *wink*
    - When will we get new content? QQ
    - Will we get sales? I got a ton of gold to spend.
    - I'm bored, I'll create a useless thread to annoy Opkorock.
    - *Incessant poking on Sweetiebot* Fun~

No male venomancer available. however maybe one female character is nice to have and can dress her pretty. Sometimes those outside of faction take a liking to my Venomancer which is nice sort of. I say nothing of who I really am and just say thanks.

what about the women playing female characters and lie to guys that they are a guy so they do not get hit on? b:laugh

Anyhow I'm a guy. And I would advise anyone playing a online game to not care what gender is behind the player.... this is a video game not a dating site... well for most people anyway.

Playing my new female character recently, minding my own business, fighting mobs, someone cast a buff on me. Now I don't mind someone casring buffs on me, as I do the same when I fly around on my boring cleric. It's what happened afterwards...

    [Player casts buff on me]
    Normal chat "ty"
    Whisper from caster, "yvw, cutie!!"

For the love of all things holy people, just be friendly and dont think every female character is a hot piece of pixellated *** with a hot little female gamer behind the monitor.

Wow, this cutie seems upset. b:surrender

Seriously though, from what you said, that person said nothing that assumed you were female IRL. You're a cutie in-game, as in your character's appearance. What's wrong with admitting it? Hell, maybe it was his way of complimenting your character customization model. :3

To speak from the other side of the table: I am a female with a male main. Why? *chuckle* Do you want me to be honest? Murcas is my persona, the other "me". I guess it is a form of role-play; you're essentially adding your personal attributes to another body, therefore creating another "you". I doubt many of you have played any of the Persona games, but the descriptions to the player about one's persona is pretty spot on. Either your persona is made of necessity or want, which ever comes up first. In my case, it came up as want. I did not WANT to be flirted with, I did NOT want attention of the flirtatious nature, I just wanted to play the damn game using someone that had my personality but not my body. It's really pretty simple. *shrug* And, yes, my in game "wife" is my real life husband. This was his line of reasoning:" It's a ****** game, I play a female because they're easier on the eyes." and I would be inclined to agree with him.

But somehow Personas are genderless, anyway xD

it seems easier for a girl to say that a male char can be one side of her personality than a male saying that hes got a feminine site too ... I want more men to read your comment :)

I am indeed very lucky to have an awesome husband. My husband and I have been together for 10 years, if his feathers get ruffled over me playing a guy, there's something wrong up in the clock tower. Cuckoo for Cocoa Pops...f:laugh

Sometimes girl characters get the nicer/better stuff.

Having said that, my characters are supposed to be an embodiment of me so I guess I almost always go with a guy, save one or two experimental girl characters.

I am a female that plays a male only option character. Honestly, I don't think it's a big deal. There should be an option "for the character skill itself" it's what I did. I love being a lady barb I am one of the very few on my server and one of the loudest to display that I am a female playing it. I love how a barb plays and the buffs, but I also love being the men at their own game hehe.

I can really only connect this for me personally seeing it; men choosing female sins, cause lets be honest. The male sins are ugly af compared to the ladies. And it's a very popular class in itself.

It can be weird if the guy hides behind the screen as a girl, but.. Everyone I know is open so it's no big deal.
