I don't care what gender the player of a female OR male character is. If the character is a he, I call him he, if the character is a she, I call her she, until someone bothers to correct me if they care at all.

There's something offensive about this thread... but I can't put my finger on exactly what is bothering me...

I actually was curious to make this thread because the results would influence my decision D: I've been experimenting with private servers, and I've been making new characters. My dilemma is:

I seem to PvP better on a female sin. The animations, to me, seem more complex and take longer amounts of time (even though its just the same as a male animation). This, in turn, affects my perception of time in a fight - a female sin makes me feel as if I have more thinking-time.

Ofc I'm probably just screwed up psychologically, but I wanted to see what people would think if they didn't understand my true reasoning ;o

To a lesser degree I wanted to see if I could make another ridiculous pollthread. XD Was a dare from a friend - two birds with one stone.

This is a good thing. People don't notice me, and they don't notice the knife whistling towards their throat.

I'm a girl and I have all female toons except for my barb. The only reason I'd play a male toon would be to look at the fashion out of curiosity. I've heard the "female toons are more attractive" and the "roleplay" reasons from some of my friends.

If people give their stuff away to others cause they like sexy pixels is their own fault.

The only thing that bothers me is when a guy picks a female character, and then get offended when you call them a "she". When you pick a character of the opposite gender, be prepared to be called by that. People shouldn't get offended. You are setting yourself up to constantly correct people which will be annoying.

As for me, I'm half and half on artistry and sexual preference (rather look at a female toon).

I fail to see how the poll is in any way offensive. The question is asking for your own PERSONAL perception about the motivations of others. Is it a great question? No, not really. How does that make it offensive? Why do people take offense to it? I can think whatever I damn well please about anyone else and it doesn't affect anyone personally.

Logged my cleric the other day and had a guy starting hitting on "her." Even after I made a comment about my cleric's balls. For some reason they had a hard time believing I was a guy with a girl character, even though I'd guess that's the case for 95% of the female toons.

My reasons are simple. I only play female veno and elves. Veno there is no other option, and male elves look like ****. I'd rather play a female toon than a ****** toon, simple as that.

In reality the amount of time some people invest on these online games they tend to forget there's an outside world and their face to face interaction skills have diminished over time so to most of them they to look for companionship on this types of games and those the opposite sex playing is common ground to build on. I've heard "I'm too shy to speak to girls in real life but on here it's much more easier".

I play female toons cause I like them it remains on the basis of strictly personal entertainment for ME but I've never gotten "involved" with the over interested male toon cause at the end of the day my "real" male persona just doesn't swing that way it's not WHO I am.

No choice. Wizards, barbs, psychics, seekers and mystics are supposed to be male. Clerics, archers, venomancers and blademasters should be female. Cleric shop alts and buff-only alts are male though. Assassins don't have a gender, they are just hated fish everyone wants in squad. You're supposed not to see them anyway.

So with that, I got a few cross gender characters. If I get hit on, I'll play along cause it's funny and I assume it's some sort of game/role play. If guys really drool over pixel ****, I'll give them a chance to zoom in. I won't accept gifts other then help, but that's general.

I don't see anything wrong with playing opposite sexe toons, and don't really search for reasons behind it. From my friends ingame, I don't really bother about wether they are guys or girls (toon or rl). I like someone or I don't get along with someone.
Well, we've all seen them. The nice looking girl you're talking to, suddenly saying "I'm a guy," or if you're unlucky, suddenly saying it after you give them free stuff. Your friend who you never knew was a male. Or your friend that you have known was a male for a long time, and yet they still get hit on by other guys.

Are those own experiences ? Honestly, the guy giving gifts to pixel **** rather then a person, or the guy being friends with a sexy female fashion set instead of a person, are more to blame then the person playing another gender.

And how come it's always about the guys playing girls, and never about the girls playing guys ?

I did it out of convenience. I created a female Sin on another account so I can carry her and not have to buy her a fast flyer, at least not for now. I can also carry her and help her with quests. It just makes it so much easier than having to make another male toon and buy an expensive flyer for him.

lol i dont think why sexual orientation is mentioned here. Or at least i dont see the point as why being homosexual has anything to do with choosing a female toon, unless youre a homosexual girl. Actually choosing a male toon as a male is more "homosexual" if we look close at it, because there is a big line between being homosexual and being girly and usually heteros cross this line more often than homosexuals. Well, enough rage.

I had on sanctuary only male toons and liked it, but i noticed that females were treatened more friendly. If i did one mistake, male playes were raging like i destroyed the game. And i was a beginner only.
On Morai every char of mine is female besides my barb. I get free molds =) People are friendly and i like female fashion of PWI. But i noticed girls can be extreme aggresive if youre plaiyng a female too .... Well, i think its all about how you see the class and what you like.

since ini editing is allowed it is at least possible to make good looking males as well xD
For me, i hate male bms and female clerics. Its way too stereotypical. Guys need to do high damage in robes and girls should have smexy HA - best with axes or swords b:pleased

this isn't really a online dating game.

You would be surprise, everytime I meet a new guy the second I say I have a bf the attitude change, they stop pm me, almost not answer if I do pm them and finish by delete me from fl. A lot of guys in PWI look like to be unable to be only friend with a girl and look like to search for some relation (serious or not). I'm sure I'm not the only one that get asked her skype after a 5 minutes convo in game with a new guy. (the funny part come after you say no to add them xD)

A lot of guys are annoying in PWI cause of that, they look like they think it's a online dating place, so unless the guy have already a gf irl or is not straight good luck. (or maybe it's just a issue on my server)
    Krisnda wrote: »

I think there's more guys playing females chars than girls playing males. If you remove girl playing their bf/friends/hubby chars there's not a lot playing male chars. There's girls playing males, but it's not a majority and it's not for the same reasons.

A lot of guys say they play a female char cause they prefer see a girl butt, while I didn't heard a single girl say they was playing male cause they didn't wanted to see a female butt all day long, girls don't bother with that, at worse point the girls will try to find fash that make the butt look great. xD

But yea there's way more guys playing females than girls playing males.

In my experience from what the girls I asked on my servers said, majority (myself include) says playing male chars to avoid guys attitude with female chars. (flirt etc...)

Yeah, same. I'd think that would fall under romantic reasons, anyway. Obviousily if two guys are in a relationship and want to marry/carry one-another in the game, one of them's going to have to make a character not the same sex as their own (which, pretty obviousily to me, is a romantic reason). I don't see why that's different than any other people having to have opposite sex characters/choose the opposite as their partner regardless of the connection between the existing character's gender and the player's gender(since there really is no connection). The game mechanics don't judge.

Hello all. Speaking from experience, I'd just rather have a female character in game than a male. For one, if I'm going to be looking at my character in game for an extended period of time, it may as well be female. Two, people tend to underestimate female toons. Don't let that fool you though. Ultimately, its pixels, and pixels only. I simply prefer playing as female toons. I do this in PWI, console games, and other MMO's. My barb is the sole exception to this rule as far as PWI is concerned.

I am a heterosexual male. I do not fool anyone into thinking that I am interested in them, or that I like them. If someone even offers me a gift, I let them know that I'm a male player. I even announce it at the beginning of many squad runs. The gifts that I've received are more for beiing a skilled and good cleric than having a female toon. I like the customization and costumes better for females anyways, and also the fact that you can work with virtually any color with their dresses. (You roll pink pants and a purple jacket on a male character and you'll be less inclined to wear it, whereas female characters can still utilize it not as much affect on their toon's overall appearance.)

Ultimately its just a choice that I made, to make Serenity female and most of my alts too. I honestly don't really fall under any category in your poll, though I picked sexual preference since it was the closest.

(Didn't bother to read all nine pages, so sorry if I left anything out.)

Don't get me wrong, I know a lot of people met/meet people on this game but my point was more towards that people didn't come here to date they came here to just play, relax and have fun. Lets face it, you can meet that special someone anywhere so connecting this game into dating service is kinda..meh..

Oh I've had my share time of "fun", just because my archer doesn't look trashy or ugly ingame I've had people hitting on me since I made it until today with a few people who doesn't accept the fact that I'm a guy and repeated it multiple times. A lot of people told me that a guy can't make a character look as good as I did which means I'm lying about my gender lol so they continue hitting on me for whatever reason they have.
