I didn't want to explain, cause it's kinda counter-productive to truly recognizing someone who helps and not a popularity or essay contest...I thought most people knew Crazy__Erik for helping others and this contest was to see who recognized his contributions...but...if I must..
Before the game went to "pay for Rep" Crazy__Erik had one of the highest rep totals in the game. He got this for helping every FB and cultis. Helping fb and cultis is his mission still and he can always be counted on to help, no matter what your level. His cleric Native_Power was also very helpful to me as a new player. He used to just hang around the mines buffing everyone he saw. He gives away a lot of gear and coins to complete strangers, mostly new people to the game cause he told me "it helps the game to get new people interested and started"
Although he is only rank 8, you can tell the impact he has made just by how many people know him and not just because of his wild world chats. b:laugh0 -
Mael has a point. This type of contest can easily turn into a mere popularity contest or who is the best at lying and spreading rumors. The simple fact this a competition with a big reward at the end, it will push people to be suspicious of unknown contestants, pull dirt on them, ask questions. Contestants has to be able to defend what he stands for.

It might help them complete 1 quest for 1 day. But it might also turn them into a bunch of lazy leaches who doesn't know how to play their class. Even the idea of being 'helpful' is subjective.

Considering the entirety of my posts were a complete joke, I couldn't help but laugh at this. It baffles me that even the method I used to nominate myself wasn't seen as a joke. It's even funnier that I can half ruin something without even trying to do so; everyone else does the work for me.
I don't go out of my way to upset people, that requires too much effort and I'm so lazy these days. People come to me for it and it happens on its own. This thread for example. b:chuckle

fyi that kid is a doosh who goes around trashtalking clerics who are too busy moving to different lands in NW to buff him.

Anallyse or however you spell it, from nocturne or nyx_rose are the only helpful people i can think of that havent gotten r9 for themselves for whatever reason, and have been around long enough to be deserving of it.

I could sit there and talk **** like you like "well i was in nocturne several times on different alts and never got help from her or her members" but I'm not trying to hate. This would be a really wonderful idea if most of the people here weren't selfish or trolls. I'm glad you are trying to help people out, but it is hard to decide something like that only on the bases of some people's words. People's honesty isn't worth much nowadays.
I'd like to vote, but my main is on DW and I have had little experience on HT to vote for someone there. I hope you contest does work though, and someone honest wins it. It would be sad to see it go to someone who doesn't deserve it.

Heard about this and while I congratulate the idea and the heartfelt gesture, I don't see how it will work when you have the mentally challenged on the forums going on about their personal clashes instead of what the author's real intentions.
WTF does buffing in NW have to do with my helpfulness? Did you need my help? That comment and the one by Sasha kinda prove my point. "kid" "doosh" and "tolly" in a thread trying to congratulate and promote the good intentions in PWI. It's ironic. Especially the part where Amourie nominates herself after admitting to everyone that she ignores people...the same thing I accused her of and she admitted in NW. I don't trash-talk clerics Amourie...I "trash" talked you in a whisper for not being a cleric.
Back to something worth my time. I wanna take the opportunity to recognize someone who truly helped the old generation players.

BarJam learned the game quickly and helped explain simple things to so many new players. Taking the time to explain the Auction House, FBs, and manufacturing. He would equip players he just met and then tell them the difference in gear. He was always available for questions. Like myself, BarJam was never a part of of the cliques that think they rule the opinions of PWI. He wasn't in a major guild, he didn't world chat and he didn't come to forums. Doesn't mean he didn't affect a great many PWI players lives in a very positive way. Just means he didn't feel the necessity of being popular with the loudmouths.
BarJam will not be coming to accept this nomination. Sadly the man behind him passed away from a heart-attack last year. I do wish to thank Calvin for giving me a spot to share with any that didn't know him, the man that I feel was the most helpful person on PWI. I know he can't win, but at least this contest afforded me the chance to say Thank You to BarJam.
Hopefully we can stay on track with this contest and keep doing what Calvin intended. Recognize the players who don't specifically care about forum opinions, Faction power or ego boosts. Let's stop the pettiness and stick with the subject. Who is most helpful?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Being a nice person is totally a helpful gesture my friend, since that's the thing that lacks most around this server (and I am first to admit I am neither helpful or nice!) and since you were nominated for this, I kindly objected because you are not a nice person, you are indeed someone who takes time to continually PM people on their lack of skills because they don't seek you out to buff you. Meanwhile, I was supporting the barb who actually ran the flag successfully in all of the lands you trailed us in.
I think someone mentioned this before, but keep the prize for yourself. No one on here is deserving of a title or prize like that except yourself, since you're naive (not a bad thing) and generous enough to do this.0 -
Well that didn't work, some people just aren't mature enough to move past the only time they met me (In base of a NW land, after I ran the flag in to secure it, ijs) but allow me to be the better player and get this back on track...
Seeing how BarJam was more of a memorial than a nomination, I would like to nominate JamberBritts
Again she may be relatively unknown around the forum regulars, but she is well known in the game for helping out. She takes time out to take anyone new to a new instance and fully explain what they are expected to do. As someone pointed out before, helping doesn't mean doing it for them - it's training them to do it for themselves.
In this world filled with specialized requests (Worldchatting : LF Sin r9 ONLY with blah blah aps and only blah blah weapon for BH), Jamber takes anyone in her squad and works the problem while helping anyone new to the instance.
Like myself, Jamber had one of the top reps in the game before the Pay for Rep period happened because she does any fb or culti w/o question. Her entire faction Dark Cross is known as well as Nocturine (sp?) as the TOP Helping factions on our server with Legions of players that help anyone, anytime. That a good reflection of how helpful Jamber and Noc's leader is.
Now please...I truly hope instead of the usually forum **** of trolling a post, I would ask that anyone who knows Jamber to come forward and reinforce my comments about a truly helpful person. I understand that this contest was well meant, but it is quickly moving downhill because some people can't understand the concept of saying nice things and recognizing the unsung heroes of the game.
I get why Calvin wants to reward a non rank 9 player for helping out. These people mentioned, despite not having the "top" gear still are making an impact. They do it by knowing their characters and passing that knowledge forward. Imagine how many more they could help with "top" gear. Erik you are to kind and so sweet to nominate me. But you know i play this game for fun times only. And there is no fun in just trying to be the best. If we can't take the time to help each other then what is the point of playing. I have received help from many in this game and it's only right to help other in return. You have always been a great help to me and I readily nominate you for this. There are many awesome players in this game that take the time to help others. I am not sure how anyone can narrow it down to just 1 player. You have always put others quests ahead of your own to the point I had to drag you screaming to instances to get your own done. It's amazing you ever got your own culti done as busy as you stayed helping others. You are really awesome. I thank you for the nomination and hope you win.0
