Streamlining the early-game experience

Change the rep of the 1-30 quests so that it turns out if you do every quest you are supposed to, you have 300 rep at level 30 for your first set of gear.
It's not until 70+ that you can start getting "guaranteed" armour - and with the lack of people under 70 out questing and grinding there is absolutely nothing on the AH under that level,
Try ignoring level 22+ Tellus quests till after 30, I don't think they give much rep for the amount of experience you get from them.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I did a cleric, barb and BM back in the day and then more recently my seeker and a sin and have never been close to 300 rep at 30 b:sad0 -

Personally, I've went through levels 1-30 at least 30 times. More often than not, I could get to rank 1 right when I hit 30. I know for a fact that it's possible. b:victory
Edit: Also, a lot of my lowbie characters got all 6 prizes from Perfect Questmaster, some of them were 30-34. If you haven't gotten that far with your newbie character, go do more quests and feed your genie.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I stand corrected and you certainly can get to 300 rep if you do everything including the complete 29 culti (which is where the bulk of the rep comes from). I have never managed to have the entire 29 culti done by 30 though which is probably why I assumed it wasn't possible. Nice one! b:victory
I think you would need to completely ignore some quests and focus solely on the culti to have the 300 rep by level 30 though, otherwise you simply level too much and are still working on the culti at 35/36. Which still kind of makes my point relevant, as a new player is not going to know they need to ignore white quests and only do the culti to ensure they can get the level 30 gear at level 30.0 -

For new players it's often not understood what they should and should not do. For example how to gain materials, may be nice to have the current quests that send you out to gather some materials for the vendors changed. Keep the general idea, but add in a few pop-up windows that make things more clear to the player. Like where to buy a pickaxe and how to gather materials.
Other problem I regulary see, is that new players have no clue what weapon they should take for their toon. Or the white vs. blue and yellow items that causes a problem. not many starters know that either. Nothing there to tell them about these things.
Also may be a good idea to have more materials laying around, often high lvled players come around and take everything they see. Leaving nothing at all for the starters. Specially since high lvled players often come on mounts or fly the faster flyers (or run around using skills). This also should lower the redicilous high prices for low ranked materials. Add a bit more of other materials such as Grease, hard to get if you try to forge new items that need that.
Currently there is a gap between lvl 19-23, the transfer from starter area to Archosaur. The monsters get so much harder in 1 go that many often die or just take hours to do 1 single quest. This must be changed. There must be a more smooth transfer for this, lots of new players often leave the game because of this. Specially since there are so many standing outside fooling around and not even taking the time to help out others.
EDIT:
Reputation is rarely gained in early levels and even later on. When you reach level 30 you may be happy with 1/3th of the reputation often! With extreme luck perhaps halfway. You often get to be lvl 40-50 before you even get enough reputation for Rank 1 armor! (not counting in buying rep or such) This is a serious pain in the... well you get it I guess. Often lvl 40 players run around in lvl 20 armors.
Weapon Token system which the Tideborn have, should be added to ALL groups. It's redicilous that only the Tideborn can do this! Also the others are in need of something better then the weapon that General Summers will eventually take away from you if you don't pay attention. Leaving the player without a weapon!0 -
I always actually enjoyed the superlowbie quests and before you know it, you were L20ish and ready to head for arch. IJS IMO, 1-20 is fine. the running around is kept fairly local so no problems here.
Actually the bonus armor my mystic got after that exp is stupid and too op. once everything is so dumbed down for L1-20, you start wondering about skipping it all fast like chowing a couple scarlet fruits vs actually learning the limits of your toon lol
Ok, now the L20-30 arch+culti chain. that sux. it has been mentioned over and over throughout this thread: travelling back and forth , ESP OUT W ARCH LAG/CRASHVILLE
is really irritating, esp since every last alt has to do this.
i love the hitlist idea. you could merely teleport back in when you were filled up while knocking out all the mob sets. Then get right back out and pick up where you left off.
Then clean it all up questwise, one time, at the end. brilliant.
PRO TIP: GET A MOTORCYCLE OR OTHER 5MIL L10 RIDEABLE RIDE omg, that makes all the difference cruising out to the mines on a max speed ride.
PRO SUPER LOWBIE TIP: NO LOWBIE MOBS CAST, PUT ALL CLASSES OF TOONS IN HA FIRST THING. Even casters can beat the **** out of things at L3 to mix with casts to make mana last. change over to your correct gear as you are in your 10-teens range.
remember venos, get those super lowbie turtles out of that river in lowbie land for your underwater pet, and save hay for a pet slot as you go along....
and in closing, looking forward to y'all streamlining access to ocean orbs at some point. b:chuckle

On topic:
The traveling time for the culti's are realy annoying, so maybe hand out more teleport incenses and stones in the lvl20 & 25 stash box. b:pleased
And i have a suggestion to keep new players playing, make it PWI exclusive.
Something like the new player will start in morai with a few quests and give them a special reward for reaching morai again (morai area will definatley attract new players more than the old area's b:chuckle)0 -
Add a pet hyper exp blessing so that pets can level at the same rate as the veno
even if you ignore frost venos still easily outlevel their pets extremely quickly just doing quests and grinding to level the pet.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

1 to 20 was fun. The beginner zones had very good pacing. Every quest led you to new terrain and a new mob to kill. The speed by which your level progressed was also pretty good. But once you are sent to main city, things really slowed down. Lots of meditation and down time.0

Personally, I only found that as a problem in the late levels as someone who had a full pet bag. For a newcomer I don't think that'd really be as big of an issue.
Do agree with it though since the 15 exp per mob max is.... incredibly annoying at higher levels and with more pets.0 -

For me it's annoying at pretty much all levels and is the chief reason I only play veno sporadically.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Like they already do with staunch worms?
VoS is better though because they have a huge agro range, hit like **** and are pretty much 2-3 shot fodder to venos. And you'll kill about 30 of them per pull in like 1 minute vs... 4-5 worms in that time as they are magic resistant >_>[SIGPIC]http://i48.tinypic.com/2r61kw3.jpg[/SIGPIC]

Over time I have to learn a great deal of these NPCs are totally useless and serve no game function whatsoever even though they had a misleading title that made it sound as if they had a function.
-Firework Dealer
-Awards Agent (2 of them)
-Cultivation Trainer
-Beautician
-Black Market Vendor Tu
-Arena Manager
-Homeland Guard
These NPCs do nothing at all. They should just be removed or renamed with a generic name to make it apparent they have no real function.
A good chunk of the other NPCs only have a function for high level players:
-Messenger of Sages
-Martial Arts Master
-Tournament Agent
-Arena Teleporter
-Bookmerchant
These NPCs have limited uses even at high levels and don't need to be in the starter cities.
If I remembered right, the Arena Managers have a purpose for ONE quest (The Blood Jade Quest thingy).Getting back onto PWI again. Should be fun XD

Streamline it by removing those levels completely. A char should just start out at a higher level. Either that or remove frost completely....I love puppies.... and sharp objects. b:pleased0

If you want to attract new players, I doubt making levelling at early level easier the best way to keep them interrested.
- Make the game more balanced (not the kind of joke balance you tried to do previously)
- Make PvP less dependant on gears. A player interrested in PvP will not stay long when he'll see the unbalance there is between normal gears and the one you can buy in the cash shop. Take a look at the way ArenaNet is managing PvP. They know how to make it fun for everyone.
- Have some active GM in game. Some players could be put off by he kind of unmoderated chat that goes around soemtime on wordl chat.
- Fix your bugs! Players still unable to get a blessing 3 months after the bug appeared is ridiculous.
- Stop lying to your player base. Pretending you cannot ban the goon glitchers for a ridiculous reason did hurt your company a lot more than you can think.
- Start banning cheaters, stop banning temporarily those who cheat repeteadly. Hit them hard with the permaban hammer.

Game balance and pvp balance is critical for the long term if the player is serious about pvp. But the new player knows very little of about end game frustrations because the player still cant get past level 22. R9, farming instances, inflation, means very little to the newbie because his biggest immediate hurdle is still getting past level 22.0

Oh you've got to be kidding me, right?
You've ALREADY steamlined your game----it's called Frostcovered City, Steven.
You know, that thing where high level APS characters go and solo the entire instance to sell it to lower level players, so they can hurry to 101, charge money for Rank 9, and finish the game in a three month period?
That one.
Low level grinding, quests, ect. AREN'T killing your game. You know what is? Check the signature for a clue.
I'm skeptical about you taking in our opinions, furthermore...sort of like how you've taken in our opinions of APS, Assassins, Frostcovered City, and Ranked gear, among several hundred other things.
You want to attract new players? Quit bsing your playerbase. Try adjusting things we get from PW-CN to OUR gaming culture. (Like the stupidly high prices for items in the Guild Bases...seriously, what were you thinking?) Make low levels work together on certain quests.
We LIKE working together. We DON'T like looking for a squad for six hours. They made fun of me because I wasn't a R8 Psychic...and then came third cast. It's not funny anymore.

I still remembered when my main was a 'low level'. I still am according to some of my friends (lv 96-my avatar is glitched). While I was leveling up, I liked being able to complete quests on the world map with a squad. It really makes 50 or so mobs die faster.
I think that the upper level restrictions of some qests shoul be removed.
When I got a pack of fantasy fruit on my wizard alt, I thought it was no big deal. When my wizard ate it he jumped several levels. All of the sudden I'm. Behind in my culti and stuck with a quest I can't finish due to my new level. The first few levels of a toon should be made to deal with this rapid xp gain that I haven't even noticed on my main.
And what the guy above me is talking about. FC for lv 75+ only and nerf aps more.
(I don't agree with everything she says though)
I like how you guys are actually asking us for what we want rather than just guessing.*I never thought Perfect world was beautiful... till I discovered that my graphics' quality settings were on low*0 -
A lot of the suggestions being made are made by players that have already committed to the game for a period of time. They complain about things like cultivation, gear grind and cash shopping. And these are complaints a veteran would make. In order to keep veterans in the game, these issues would need to be addressed. But these issues have little bearing in what gets a new player interested in playing the game.
The new player hasnt been pvped by an R9. The new player hasnt looked at prices and said thats too expensive. The new player is still trying to jump over some of the most simplest of hurdles like even being able to reach levels high enough to be near the veterans.
That player feels better off waiting for a new game to be released so they can play with fresh players starting out on a new server rather than fruitlessly trying to catch up with people who are already 102.0 -

one thing that was always annoying is on the 20-29 culti u need to go up to heavens tear. ur under lvl 30 so u can't fly on ur own unless ur an elf and guys can't be carried. does anyone else remember that? perhaps make floating platforms or teleport stone or something? there needs to be a way up there for the players that need it at that lvl0

Wait, is this Perfect Questmaster thing your answer to "Streamlining the early-game experience"? If so, you guys didn't read this thread at all...0

Level limit hypers and frost, problem solved. People will be back on the old map.
Unlock x4 hypers at 40, x5 at 50, x6 at 60, x8 at 70, x12 at 75. Unlock frost at 75. By that stage a new player is either hooked on the game, or you weren't going to keep them interested anyway.
Will veteran players still find ways to powerlevel? yes, of course. Will it be sold like frost? Probably - but most other ways that I can think of (ie not heads) require the higher level to be in the squad killing the mobs so just increase the xp nerf for having a higher level partied.0
