Upgrade or don't play

So from everything I've seen, PWI is basically telling those of us that have slightly older systems, that we need to upgrade our computers or not play. And it also seems like some players, who can play after this new patch, say the same thing. Well, for various reasons, most of us can't do that.
I'm on permanent disability with a very small, limited income. I live by myself, all of my family is out of town if not out of state and not a lot of them left these days anyway. When I first started this game 3+ years ago it played great on the same computer I have. It's a shame I wasted those 3+ years on a company like PWI.
So PWI if you say upgrade or don't play, I have to say I wont play then. And PWI you're really not very smart, in a business sense, by doing this.

Unfortunately it doesn't depend on PWI but on China. You have to understand also, that everything is developing by the time. I was also forced to rebuilt my computer 1 year ago. Not for PWI but for my work. New programs require better hardware same a new games. Technology evolves, that's how the world goes.
And it may sound harsh but: I doubt they will really care. The people who can't afford that kind of pc will most likely not be paying customers, so ya...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

i have a commander-ms-i model comp,3.6 ghz quad core,8 gb ram...geforce gts 520 vidcard (nice hdmi on it)
the point is pwi made some bad decisions in the past but we adapted to it..and now way too far into the mess they decide that now everyone is used to things,time to mess around with it,and to top that off,INCOMPLETELY0 -
I don't see how PWI "isn't smart in business sense" by updating their game system.
People with "limited income" don't really spend much money on the game in the first place (I hope). Those who can afford to regularly spend money on this game are typically able to afford a computer that's more than good enough to play PWI.
There have been much demands to bring PWI up to time on par with other MMO's. If they lose players with older systems, they will just gain players with newer systems.0 -

I bought gold in the auction house. The gold that I bought was bought from PWI by someone. I may just be one person but I also know of someone else that can't play now. They don't post on forums at all, any forums. PWI will never hear from my friend, they just wont see his cash any more. He did buy gold from PWI, he bought pre-paid cards. Not any more, unless PWI fixes it.
If PWI has to get China to fix it then that is what they have to do. PWI WILL lose income over this. But you are probably correct in that they wont care, they do make a LOT of money. We don't really matter very much to them in the long run. They made that perfectly clear already.0 -
Xainou i dont agree with u that tobias aint payin customer coz he just told u he is buyin gold, yes he aint buyin that gold with his own rl money but with ingame money, but ppl who sell him this gold r payin customers so tobias contributed to this game rly alot as most other ppl do.0

meh torva atm i don't even put any merit in what you say, since your saying it all out of anger. incomplete, QQ, aps nerf qq, needs new class, merchants that decide to charge what people are willing to pay rather then always undercut. ect ect ect
and as to the OP ya their asking for slightly better comps due to tw. yet they still run Direct X 9, which is what pwi's been runnign off for ages, even for Direct X 11 you need the full version of DX9 to play.0 -
PWI is asking you to upgrade to DirextX 9.0c (which was released in 2004).
If you want to continue to play PW, you can upgrade your current video card for less that $50.

Games have to keep competetive against newer models released every year- And every year a newer game comes out with like 100% more polygon intense graphics. In which case blows older games that don't keep up with the trend out the group-

As for the topic: What do you expect instead? Every company staying on a technology standard from 10 years back just to not exclude someone? That old technology has its limits too. No cool, new funky stuff. You won't be able to compete with your concurrents anymore and lose customers. Doesn't sound like a working business model to me...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Why should any company cater to people that are using equipment 10-years old or older?

My computer IS less than 5-years old. There are other games that this computer still plays and with better FPS than PW. My computer has played this game just fine for more than 3 years.
Some of you will never understand and I hope you never have to learn how to understand. If you did that would mean you've lost EVERYTHING you ever had or cared about. And you no longer have any way to get any of it back again. Pray that you never have to understand what I'm dealing with and keep praying that prayer for the rest of your life. Trust me you don't want to be here, in my position, never.
I just wonder how many others like myself are out there. The ones that have lots of time to play games like this. But no cash to spend on it. I wonder how much gold they bought with in game coin. I also wonder how many of them will never play this game again.0 -

Facts of the matter are some computers are better at gaming then others are, some pcs are made to game.
That being said while my desktop (custom built for highend gaming) has no problems playing pwi and probably never will, but my laptop (cheap compaq buisness laptop) that still meets or exceeds the minimum requirements tends to run slow or lag even on minimal settings.
If you are having trouble playing the game cause your pc is old stop qqing, your pc is old.
On a fixed income???? I know lots of people on fixed incomes for various reasons and half of them have better computers than me. A new pc or if you are intelligent enough an upgrade to your pc can be done for pretty cheap. I get adds for decent pcs FULL systems for less than $300, and they offer financing, so please stop making excuses if your pc is 5 years old you've had 5 years to save up money for an upgrade.
That's the reality of the gaming world, keep up or stop playing, it's harsh, but it's the truth a new pc is outdated after a year or two and truthfully most pcs (laptops especially) are only made to run for 2-3 years.
If you are on an old pc more than likely the problem isn't the hardware, but that it hasn't been throughly serviced and is being slowed down by years of hidden spyware, maleware and reduntant files windows thinks it needs or forgot to delete.

I have done everything that has been suggested on the forums. No, the computer was new when built from parts. New parts, built by me since I could get a better system that way for the same amount of money. This computer runs other games that use Direct X 9c and it will run those just fine.0 -

I got a old Windows XP machine single core 32bit with just enough ram and a mid range
graphic card, the pc is 10 years old and the game still looks great so i do not fully
understand what people are talking about, there is also a new **** of sorts that
lets you install Direct X 10 on a Xp machine.
maybe this may help some of you
i mean im sure if some one had a 2011-2012 system build the'd blow my setup away but
other then the occasional lag and some times i see flickering (rarely) my system is smooth.19k Hp and rising my goal is 20k unbuffed (would love 25k )0 -

and it ran fine so i think people should try the DirextX 10 for windows XP **** and

Umm... aren't you blaming PWI for not being able to play. And if you are running windows 97-windows 7, I have news for you YOU HAVE SPYWARE and probably a lot of other things that you don't even know you have.

Anyone who has NIVIDIA Geforce4 it is messing with. The card is made for different reasons other then gaming. Your really "old" pc most likely still has a better card then the Geforce4.0 -

Again if you have a windows pc YOU HAVE SPYWARE it's built in and what else is built in is a freely editable .exe program a baby can edit and have it download all kinds **** onto your pc through NORMAL windows updates.
But yeah, I'm just a former programer that blew the whistle on such programs and got fired for it that knows nothing about computers[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Look, I'm in the same position as you. My pc won't load up PWI but thats OUR fault. It is our Geforce4 cards that suck. If you want to keep playing right NOW. You will have to either buy a new pc or upgrade the one you have now.

I do know each and every piece of hardware in my case. I also know some people are just being spiteful. The guy talking about spyware wasn't "just trying to help". I know all of that and I am still calm. I am not the only one in the same situation, I am well aware of this.
I will not be able to upgrade anything for the foreseeable future. I don't blame anyone for this. It is what it is. All I have tried to do since I started this thread is let PWI know they've made a big blunder. They are alienating a large part of their player base, seem to be aware of this and not care. I keep looking for something, from someone with PWI that knows otherwise, to say something. It seems I am looking for this in vain.
I did not expect any sympathy from the majority of posters on this forum either. And I'm not surprised at some of the postings already.0
