Dun take Ursa lightly ijs, he was already one of the server's pro Wizards when I was in my 60s or 70s... And even I see a bunch of fail 9x and 100 wizards walking around and only a few good ones. Probably like for every class tho.

Anyway, every good lvl 100 wizard will tell you that it needs skill to pvp, especially one on one. We have few control skills and need to time everything perfectly while kiting. People who say "How is casting sage bids skillful" have clearly no clue about wizards at all. I was horrible at pk when I started and now I am maybe decent. I feel the difference in skill needed when comparing with my LC sin (I still love the sin tho ^_^).

And Ursa, about every serious mage player roling a psy and finding it boring: My psy is lvl 24. b:surrender Then I died of boredom.

And btw, it is not the -defense level alone that makes psys squishy. It is the lack of stone barrier. When I walk around unbuffed on my wizard I am squishy as hell. If I had -def level as well I would be a walking oneshot.

O.O r u saying that wizards can't be good at endgame unless they cash shop? okay, thanks, u stomped all my hopes and buried all my future achievements ^^
lol, kiddin, but seriously, i can't be good if i don't cash shop? that's REALLY sad... thank god FW is beeing released ^^

Exactly man, can't wait for that game. Back to the topic though. There is way too much emphasis on cash shopping these days. The cash shop is optional. It is highly possible for someone to reach endgame without cash shopping, and I'm sure many have done so.

Ursa doesnt spend any (or very little) on the game. IJS.
Sins are Scissors. Psychics are Rocks.
Archers, Venos, Barbs, Wizards, BMs, Mystics, Seekers are Paper.
    ...and Clerics are Mushrooms.
Paper beats Rock. Scissors beats Paper. Scissors also happens to beat Rock...until Rock gets 50k+ soulforce at which point Rock becomes an unstoppable killing machine that beats Paper... and would beat Scissors but it can't find Scissors, because Scissors are invisible.
So Scissors beat Paper and avoids Rock, and that is called BALANCE. -cheze

    Uuuursa.
When can I file my membership to the decent wizzys? I just 1shot a few celestial specters at 89 and I have a lvl 24 psy in the freezer who's been there since 2weeks after TB came out (hmm, fishsticks). I hope that helps

O right, we were talking about something.
Sin's are waaaaay more fun than psy's, and I have yet to really see a psy in a FC squad (I think I saw 1 once. I was still the main zhenner)

All this Wizard QQ makes me lol. The counter-flames from Psychics are amusing too though.

Okay, let me break this down for you.

The reason why the trend leads more towards Psychic doesn't have sh*t to do with the classes themselves. In an MMORPG, the newer class will always be on the receiving end of a trend, unless the class is a complete fail. And even then, there would be a ton of people trying it anyway. That's just how it goes, time to get over it. When the PW developers eventually adds a 5th race with two more classes, the trend will follow them next.

As for the DPS vs. DPH - Even without Black Voodoo, the Psychic still has a slight DPS lead in a comparison of skill spamming alone, the numbers have been run and it is indeed slightly in favor of the Psychic; this however changes once high amounts of -channel% gear enters the equation, as this quite obviously does a lot more for the Wizard's benefit than the Psychic. Maybe this is what some of you meant?

All that aside though, lemme make something clear to you crybabies in hopes that this will make you understand the situation better. Wizard is built for all-around effectiveness (very high damage, ironically strong defenses for a caster class, etc), while Psychic is a specialty class designed to abuse specialty tactics. At a glance, Psychics seem like the jack-of-all-trades, but that's a load of ****, and anyone who's played both classes should realize this. The Psychic is the specialist, while the Wizard is just all-around good.

Quite frankly, most of the comparisons people make between these two classes are absurd. They're OBVIOUSLY designed to suit different goals, and should appeal to different types of players. This is the reason why many people lean more to one than the other. People who started off Wizards will most likely not enjoy trading out the Wizard's high versatility (and all-around scariness) in exchange for a Psychic's more tactically-specific style. And vice-versa.

As for more specific replies to some of these posts - I actually respect Ursa as a player, but seriously man, try harder to defend your e-peen. It's hilarious. You're taking the issue way too personal dude.

Kai, I respect you too, but you're heading down a similar path.

Let's all have a group un-bunching of our panties and try to relax a little. Last time I checked, none of the Psychic players were on a campaign to replace Wizards, so I'm not seeing the need for all the whining. They're two different classes. They support two different fighting styles. Neither should be arguing over who's better than who. Find the one that suits you and play it, it's pretty simple.

    Cheers. b:bye

I don't know any real numbers about psychics, but I can assume they do more DPS in PvE than a wizard because there's quite the trend in DPS.

The faster you attack, the more damage you do. This is proven by fists, slingshots and now a psychic. Psychics have low channel times, and they can get in more spells than a wizard. Base magic/physical damage is the biggest source of damage, not the skill themselves. When you get more attacks, you get more base damage which will give you more damage overall. It is why gush/pyro is the best DPS combo, because they are the fastest casting skills we have. So naturally a psychic if spamming their fastest casting skills they should be able to do more DPS, even if the skills do less damage.

In PvP? Higher damage is usually better, unless its small damage at an incredibly fast rate (fist users). Psychics can't attack that fast so wizard will have the advantage.

you also have to consider, a psy casting time puts them on par with our skills

Aqua Impact channels in 0.8 seconds but casts in 1.2 seconds
Gush channels in 1 second but casts in 1 second

    takes 2 seconds total :P

and also chan reduce items affect us more then them cuz we got longer chan but faster cast unlik them

so with like both class's with 20% chan reduce wiz will hit faster

end game speed wise and dmg wise wiz>psy .gn

my arguement for wizzie - Cooler looking attacks. Psy is Over Powered. but if you're gonna argo steal in PvP and die (which seems to happen more to psy the wiz) at least make it look epic beofre you die ( i <3 my dragon). My freind had a wizzie, but rolled a psy when his account got messed over. Ask him which he prefers, his misses his wizzie, and doesnt play his 7x psy no more. As for money making... get a veno alt >.< i sent all my moeny from wiz to veno, bought SoF and nix feathers, sold the feathers and Sof, sent money back to my wizzie and had more money. i dont know how. Most my friends say they like my wizzie more then my veno. (i think they just liked to watch me steal argo and die). its true, wizzie basically fails alone, and no one listens to our stragy when its needed, but make some good friends and lvl high... **** the psycics, Human FTW!b:victory

Its not only wiz that its few of.

Its hard to find a bh 51 squad. And its not so much people at starter towns anymore :(

Its almost feels like this game is dying and that its soon only going to be high lvl people left.

Clerics and barb is hard to find too.

Lol clerics and barbs are always relatively hard to find because in mmorpg everyone wants to be the leet damage dealer/pker.
To find a squad for bh sucks too you need some luck, and maybe its ur timezone who doesn't match the others.
For starter towns, I'm still seeing blue low levels, anyway you can level to 30 in one or two days.

I played a wizard to 101 and started a psychic. Funny story, was gonna quit her at 2x and it took some sweet talking from my hubby to start playing her again. Now I outleveled his sin. b:chuckle

A lot of people ask me "do you like the wizard or psychic more?" And I tell them the same thing...I do not know. I love doing an ungodly amount of damage in pve and pvp as a wizard. I think I've blasted ear drums out on vent when I got my first 6-digit non crit. On the flip side, a psychic has faster channeling, so not a huge need for -channeling gear (although it helps) which makes up for the lack of damage. The most damage I've done as a psychic at my level is a 83k crit with HF. Non crit, 50k; so it is possible to hit as hard as a wiz, but it'll take a lot of money for refines to do it.

What a psychic has that a wizard doesn't is a painful soulburn, painful bleed (think about nix bleed--very darn close), and the dot's, while they don't do any initial damage, does some pretty nasty damage over time. If used correctly, all those skills can hurt, especially soulburn and red tide's bleed--which is based off a psy's soulforce.

I admit that I hate how squishy I am now as a psychic in TW (I miss demon stone barrier b:surrender). But call me crazy, but me playing a wizard before has carried over some survival skills to psychic, so in comparison to my wizard from level 1-93, I do live a lot better.

So the next time someone asks me "Destini, do you like your wiz more or your psychic more?" I will say "I dunno, they both have their strengths and weaknesses. It's all relative to your play style. You wanna one-hit ****? Play a wiz. You don't want to hit as hard but watch as your soulforce become a fist BM's bane? Play a psychic. And if you don't like it, you can always switch."
    [SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Better known as Destini, also known as _Yvi.

    ty Nowitsawn. :D

I dunno if I'm coming or going some days...b:shocked

normally i dotn have problems with finding a BH 51 squad even if barbs are indeed hard to find i guess thats simply because when grinding up solo a barb with tank build is much harder to lvl than any of the DD classes.

I met psychics too in my squad when doing the BHs and i consider them quite usefull. I never would play one myself because im simply not looking for a 1v1 char. Wizards with good skill and good stuff can do quite well in 1v1 pvp too but mostly they will be eaten if they dont have enough -% channeling. Compared to the other classes wizards dont have that good DoT or Stuns but no other class will be able to deal such high dmg with their aoes like the wizard. So for TWs wizard is more usefull but if you want to pk or 1v1 i rather would go for a pschic because there is the chance to shine with DoT.

I also think some players prefer the design of the tideborn race and the Uberblingbling of their skills so they pick a psy. Its somehow an optical illusion to think just because a skill got a less good animation its less effective.

Both classes require skill somehow -> the wiz has to have good control of the chi and dmg he gives and the psychic has to adept his skills.

I had a wiz once, quit her at lvl 20 about. I couldn't kill anything alone very easy and could only heal myself with potions which makes u spend alot unless ur a cash shoper and charm your wiz making it hard on those who don't cash shop. plus I hate being stuck on the ground for 30 lvls. that is why I went to cleric, can kill monsters solo(cept mini bosses and up) and heal myself plus I can fly.

well i played a psych to lvl 25 or something and can say..
you burn much more mana than a wiz.. you have no mp regen skill like
Glacial Embrace. the wiz have.. other reason is.. mobs same lvl will drop in 3 fast skills or something just 2.. thats why psych is exp..

i never had a charm on my wiz... you can play wiz w/o cashshopping but u need to farm mats later on (lvl 70+)..

well clerics can heal yea.. but they dont have stone barrier.. wiz also got a heal btw and knockbacks.. and fow.. just saying

    ...

    you're doing it wrong.

KITE... you know, RUN AWAY from mobs when you slow them with gush.
Heck if it's tough mobs you need to kill (or mini-bosses), just gush->run away->gush (after cooldown)->run away->repeat till dead

Boring but personally was one of the most cost-efficient classes at low lvls, compared to a barb for example. b:chuckle

I truly find all this banter kinda funny. The truth between Psychics and Wizards is basic. Psychics are easy leveling from the start where a wizard take a while to build up steam. I know because i have a level 50 wizard. Psychics are appealing because if set up right they can solo many bosses. havent done that with my wizard yet, but can solo TT 2-1 runs. Wizards are the perfect end game characters though for one reason. they deal massive damage. whats not to love. yes a psy can deal great damage at all levels but to have a character that takes true time to play and get right. Can't say pro because both classes have their pro's. We're not really stealing everyone's thunder and not all of us are emo kids, but it is a nice reference. it's just the fact that we like playing a hard hitting fast leveling character. People that knock it havent tried it, or couldnt get into it. not a big deal. I'll place my 70 against a 70 wiz any day though.

Dude don't pull that "i died alot because I dont cash shop" BS! It's all about the gameplay.

And when you have low health...sit down and meditate maybe? Throw on that pyro shell or whatever and meditate, and you've got ur health back in like a minute or less. I get the annoyance with walking, but you get a heal spell at level 24.

...so i'm guessing you're staying with the cleric? because every other class gets self heals late in the game and/or can't fly till level30

i was pure mag build (5 vit), from lv1 till 60 i dont used charm (later i used cause pk only) +i grinded out a ton of potion what i allways used later onyl for clearing space in invetory or i gived to my cleric. this was same after 60+ too (i mean the i got more pot then i used in grind) and i wasted pot only in tt/gv :P

I choose Wiz no matter what because wizes look 10000 times cooler than psy. standing pose, cool, magic sword, cool, and a normal human skintone. I hate spending a lot of money on a weapon that is just a ball from level 1 to level 105...
