This thread is from way back when people didn't fully understand psys and know what they're capable of. Psy and wizzie are similar at first glance, but really both classes offer a completely different style of play, for example, playing a wizzie requires much more kiting than a psy. Now reading these posts the arguments seem kinda silly lol

Just pick which ever one you find to be more fun.

To be honest the kiting argument also is not true. I mean yes you can kite mobs but you hardly will kite normal mobs because you rather use FoW and slow. Moreover if you not talk about PvP kiting wont help you much to kill mobs which you wouldnt be able to kill otherwise like minibosses because the majority of them is immune to knockback so it is still fow +shrink + you need a large area to do it. I did Blackhole Devourer in OHT1 solo just for fun but it still sux because it takes you like 15min. While on the other hand a psy friend of mine is able to tank Abaddon with white voodoo and for stronger normal mobs there is landslide + a fast stun ( earth vector) for the psy.

Well, I was speaking mostly from a PvP aspect. Psys have faster control skills than wizzies and a phys immunity buff so they don't need to kite as much. Wizards are more adept for kiting mostly because of distance shrink. Psys have no inept ability to assist with movement.

PK aspect judged by the last PK tourney on dreamweaver i attended

faction1 sends in 2/6 of all people involved
    faction2 sends in 3/6
    random factions 1/6

    finals

faction1 squad kills everyone left in faction2 squad but one person

this one is a +12 psy in white voodoo

+12 psy kills full faction1 squad one by one

psy wins, its not faction 1 winning, neither faction 2 - its the psy alone

a wizard in that position with the same gear would simply have died
    seal buff > stone barrier

↑This is was I meant in my first post by no one knowing what a psy was capable of when this thread was originally made... Buffs and debuffs that act when opponents attack don't shine very well when you kite.

still kiting vs a range class is useless because chances to get out of their attack range is small so you still will receive dmg while you kite and unfortunately 1 arcane hits other arcane class still hard. So kiting only works good against melee classes and espcially against the barb. But when it comes to PvE the uses are limited.

And yes back then people did not know what a psychic is capable of and surprisingly some still try to think that they have a chance against a psy and that bids will save their ***
