    apparently you don't know what a DoS (or ddos or pdos) attack is, read the first post on this page.... If you did you all wouldnt' say it's PW's fault. Even better go to the old thread and look at frankie link, or just go to wiki (not the GAME'S wiki) and look up Denial of Servicve attack.

    So much hate.

    Might do some ppl some good to take a break from the game, they seem to be acting like small annoying children, demanding something over and over again. The game isn'g going anywhere, it's going to be here tomorrow, next week, hell even next month. If all the DC, lost items, etc etc is really annoying you that much, just take a break from the madness and watch some tv, but god forbid you from going outside and having some really social time with IRL friends.

    Well over the 2 years ive played its been almost impossible to get a response or anything approaching a fix for any issues from PWI.The game had a lot of potential but money talks and if it doesnt make immediate cash we aint fixing it.Well it looks like you got someone irritated thats gonna hit you right in the wallet which is the one place you may actually wake up and do something.Personally i enjoyed the game but now the greedy expansions with no look to making the game run efficiently has me turned off.So i take my hat off to the peeps who are handing you your asses atm at least they know how to get you all to work lol.See you all in WOW

    Whoever is responsible for the ddos attacks seems to be quite good at it despite all the commentary about how dumb they are or that they are probably 12 years old. Whatever the case PWI is being slammed and it doesnt look as though they are up to the task of stopping it any time soon. you might want to consider 6x drops exp and spirit since your game is that slow to respond lol.I hope that this gets you all to adress more than just the attacks security issue.Maybe there is a legit reason these guys are pissed at you .Maybe they already tried the 2-3 month ticket approach to solving it .this probably seems more effective to them.Not hating on you i am just one of the frustrated thats glad at least someone has the nads to bring some change.

    Its not a ****. It's a bunch of computers flooding the system with fake info. All systems are susceptable to it.

    You can't really block it. You have to stop the attack at its source. Every site and server from your bank to the social security admin to paypal ect is vulnerable. It's not PWI's fult. It's how the global network is set up. They are abusing the network not haccking into the servers. Alot of the time is personal computers infected with a virus being controlled by someone doint it.

    Not exactly true. While they may not be able to block the attack entirely, they *should* be capable of mitigating the effects on the servers. There are multiple ways to go about this, and their ISP should be doing so.

    That they are not (or appear not to be) *is* PWE's fault.

    Just because they appear not to be doesn't mean they aren't. The fact that it pretty much stops for the most part at the start of the business day means they are doing something. The DDOSer are just going around it after a few hours.

    The ISP not doing their job isn't PWE's fault. PWE can't just change ISPs they are in a contract with their ISP. Also takes time to get a new on anyways. It's only been 3 days. I've seen this **** go on for months. It still amazes me tho how when something is going wrong everyone here turns into a specialist on the subject. I mean how many trained professionals can be on these forums? I'm not an expert but I do know it's not that easy to stop. I have seen first hand how long it can take.

    Their servers are hosted better than most other F2P games tbh. While it is still partially their responsibility, they are a F2P game and aren't obligated to 100% satisfy optional customers. The last few F2P MMOs' servers I played would be completely overflown and require a full server restart in order to handle the attacks. PWE servers seem to disconnect a few players from different regions at a time rather than completely shutting down. This is already a lessened (mitigated) effect of an entire server shut down.

    And about the ticket/reply thing from pw...i've only ever sent one ticket in (that was a month before the whole DQ fiasco which is now working perfectly for me) and they answered within two weeks of me sending it in sooooo....

    And facebook/jones wasn't working this morning but I took a break and just tried again just now. Patience me, patience ;p ...worked perfectly sooooo....

    And if you're worried/annoyed about messed up fb/bh/tt/losing exp/dropping items/etc. then take a break.

    And real money/charging zen? Take a break with that too.

    Don't do any of that stuff until you're absolutely sure you won't dc/lose something in the middle of it. Sure missing out on 2x is a bummer, but isn't it better to take a break instead of being frustrated from dcing all the time and losing some very, very important/expnsive things?

    (I'm just running around grinding by the way ;p)

    The thing I'm sad about is how messed up tw is going to be for people this weekend...can't really cancel it until all this ruckus is over now can they? b:sad

    Aaah, it's a shame that all of this happened. It's even more a shame when I read in several places people blaming PWi for all of it and furthermore insulting them and the GMs. I wonder if those people could even manage to keep up the server at a time like that. Of course, if they were given the chance.

    Uhhhh... The game is up, running, and for the most part, not even laggy.

    There's an hour or so, maybe 2 or 3 hours, when the bots switch IP's, or switch tactics, and the sysadmins have to counter it.

    If PWI was vulnerable, WE WOULD NOT BE PLAYING RIGHT NOW AT ALL ON ANY SERVER. Is that so hard to understand? That is the GOAL of a DDoS. This DDoS is failing, it's a MINOR ANNOYANCE.

    And to be honest... It could be one person. I know of an instance where a single person was going through EZBoard's forums and hacking their forums, one board at a time. It's also possible to find, write, or convert your own script to make a bot net, you don't need a 'large team of people'. One person can control an entire bot net from a single computer... Something sophisticated enough to take down the US Government's public front page and web servers would require a team of people, and most likely millions of computers. This attack on PWI is probably a small bot net with 200-1000 computers, spread all over the world. I have no idea though, since as usual, PWE is being fantastically forthcoming with details. b:bye

    edit nvm, the servers were up, just that on the pull down list they all had no info listed lol,my bad.
