Consider the possibility that the rest of us, who choose to continue to play this game, have found something to our liking (admittedly, not everything), or have seen other games being worse than PWI, and hence are here.
Key observation: Players who can not Cs for whatever reason (in my case, the country I live in) but can put in enough time and effort to farm / merchant and save up coin, or players who can CS only a little bit, are getting a chance through today's changes, to at least partly catch up with the big money players. Does that burn you up, take away your "exclusivity" obtained by spending lots of money?
Those who couldn't afford to get decent gear before now (not Nirvana, not +10 TT gold, but acceptable mold gear etc), are no worse off than before with these changes. If anything, the gap got smaller. Hooray for that!
Yes, for 1 month. After that, you are SOL.
If this sale was perm, I would agree with you. But it isnt. So the gap will be enormous. Bigger than Packs ever made.
And people get heated because this is their passion, gaming. Its a hobby that is extremely popular and brings people together from across the planet.
When people play with our hobbies, we get upset. Why? Because our hobbies are our 'private' enjoyments. And when people **** around with what we enjoy in our privacy, we feel violated.
And when people feel violated, they retaliate.0 -
PWE is not killing the game. They are encouraging American kids to go to college so they can get jobs that pay well. Then, with plenty of expendable income, you can easily afford Rank IX gears.
This sale is a good thing for education. LOL. b:chuckle0 -

As I've said before, I think I'm already on my way out the door. I can't even log in: there's no point cause I know I can't keep up with r9. I'm just waiting for a GM response; I wanna hear why on earth the company would do this.
And for the longest time, I agreed. PWI is a much better quality game than the other F2P MMO's on the market. But it only takes one bad decision to ruin everything...
As for you with farming your gear, I'm glad your so optimistic, but please go take your gear you have now and 1v1 a r8 player. I think you'll be disappointed. There's quite a gap between everything and r8/nirvana, and another gap between r9 and everything else. b:surrenderI AGOREY0 -

im in the same boat..
rank gear was never a goal of mine however..
my goal was to eventualy be the first to make .15 interval bracers
now i don care no matter how much i cash shop no matter how much i farm instances no matter if i get my dream items it wont matter cause somone will call me a noob for not having rank 9... considering they are giving it away and even if its 1000 dollars i dont think people realise how cheap that is and just how many people will have it..
i think its already to the poin that anyone without rank 8 is noob give it one more week and rank 9 will be the new status quo
i am also simply coming to the forums wanting to see a gm response and i also see no point in logging into the game till i see one hell of a response0 -

Only reason why I walked away and stayed away is because my Real Life is so much more important to me than this game.
Only reason why I came back was because I was getting spam emails to help 'fix' the situation that was at hand with Narla.
Only reason why I stayed was because I wanted to help Darkside defend against Nemesis.
Only reason why I am still on these forums is because Im *dying* to know what -removed- excuse that Kantorek or frankieraye can come up with this time.
So yes, enjoy your shiny new Rank whatever gears, Val. Because impressing people on a virtual game is soooo important. Me? I have self control, to walk away.
PWI is crack. Everyone who plays this religiously is a addict in some way. If anyone has ever been to AA or NA, you should know that your life suffers because of your addiction. You neglect your family, your friends, your wife, husband, boyfriend, girlfriend, education, career, pets.
The only good that can come out of this is some people's lives will be rescued.0 -

Noone is leaving. People left for packs, left for no tw pay, left for cheap hypers, left for cheap packs, left for high gold prices, left for this reason or that reason. Guess what? Most of them come back. And spent more $ then they did before they left.
And PvP was unbalanced before. If anything, this will help balance it. Widen the gulf between lvl 90 pk and lvl 100 pk, sure. But it will actually balance out pk at lvl 100+. And with hypers cheap, etc., there's alot of 100s walking around. Not a few people have 2 or 3 lvl 100 characters in fact."And as for bragging, I don't need to brag. I am famous, yo. Yes. But the sale only lasts a month. After 1 month and more people hit 100 and didn't get r8/9 during the sale, PvP is going to be facking unbalanced.
If they aren't going to reconsider this sale, it should at least be permanent.
Also Longknife, your not going to get a GM response, they never respond. Why would they? they are probably laughing at us while watching the money roll in and the game self destruct. IMO there should be a rollback or at the very least the items should be in the CS permanently. A point i have been wondering about:
Why is everyone saying that this recent event harms the none CS'ers?
Even with the (insane) raise of ingame gold price to 2m, reputation has never been that cheap as far as i remember and thus never been more easy to get, even without using CS.
Last week before this patch was out i remember officers badges to be sold at 80-85k each, now they are sold at down to 10-15k each.
The only none CS'ers this patch is harming are those that already got rank 8, and only those are complaing (for a VERY good reason). Because this patch is a huge, giant and unbelieveable insulting middle-finger to all of you who spent their time and effort in the past months/years to farm rep to finally own rank 8 gear, and now need to see that its all for nothing cause anyone will get it now...
Plus the fact that your rank 8 now will be obsolete playing against high end CS'ers with the new rank 9 stuff...
Thats the main point why I think PWI likes punishing the people that don't use CS.
Btw i myself wont stop playing because of this patch, but only because of the people i met here and because i still enjoy playing with them.
Only action i will take is never to charge any zen again (spend ~300$ so far), i wont waste money this month just to be shown that i would have been better off saving the cash for another, to get the next thing coming...
PS:
I believe they f***ed up snowmans too. I remember snowman from last years event like some of you will as well, and if my mind/memory is not playing tricks on me they used to drop a lot more and even some better stuff last time. One could start to think that they reduced drop rate so people cant get that much chi stones like they did last time, where you couldnt even use them that well cause genies werent released at that point.0 -

And Nahk (sorry, you will always be Nahktuul to me), you make a good point. Fortunately, RL forces me to be away from this game more than I would like to be. The laugh of my son is far more satisfying than seeing "200,000" rising from a mob could ever be.

Well, I chose a PvE server because I understood it to not be a PvP server. Had I had any inclination to 1v1 anyone, I would have rolled my character on the PvP servers.
Also, yeah, 72 gold I can afford, so I'm getting my rank 8. I won't be disappointed were I to 1v1 a R8 player as you suggest, presumably. Earlier I could not even imagine affording 250 raptures at 2+ million coins each, so I would never have obtained comparable gear, had it not been for this latest update.
Sure, others will have Rank 9 - some would have obtained it anyway, just at greater expenditure of time and / or money. Now more players will achieve it, so there will be more players pleased with their gear. Excellent!0 -
LOL@PWRD's stocks plummeting -72% b:chuckle
To all the non-CSers cheering. The CSers were keeping the game alive, like it or not. It costs money to host a server. What isn't funny is, whether it was in real life or in the game, most of us worked hard to get our equipment.
Now what is going to happen is this. The price of gold will stabilize higher than it was before. Just like gas and food prices do irl. TT mats and uncannies will lose value, along with interval gear (because Rank 8 is loaded with interval already) and a lot of other game-farmed gear.
And as I said in prior threads. All the really hardcore cash shoppers will get Rank 9 and be untouchable. A barb and sin on my server have already done so.
The whole thing is completely and totally asinine and has really taken a lot of fun out of the game for a lot of people.
If someone doesn't believe that this decision affected the customer satisfaction of the majority of the people, then why have PWRD's stocks plummeted so low?
As far as CSing goes. I got my Rank 8 last week before the update. I spent a lot of my free time farming and also spent a lot of hard earned money on it. I have a very physically demanding job and probably put three weeks worth of pay, and several hours of my free time away from work, into this just to watch it be handed out to others like a welfare check a week later.
You're rejoicing because PWE has cut the non-CSers a break. But you fail to see the big picture. Because of mats and gears being devalued, and the price of gold going sky high, non-CSers aren't going to even be competitive in the game anymore. Purple: small amounts of people are having "fun" from it notice the massive quit threads and less people in archo, guilds, etc.
Yellow: little people yet again are having fun from this experience, not just from the rep experience, but from the gms just neglecting its players, blah..blah..not going into much details here.
Aqua: Actually that idea is pretty valid. If a lot of people (cashoppers and noncashoppers) spent time to get their good gear and to see this "event" to come it would bring a lot of people to quit, more people quitting equals less money pwi gets. You never want to make a large sum of people/customers mad, it will shorten the players you have ingame which means less capability of gaining money. Btw the "ok they can quit and others will come in" well yeah others will come in (though there might be a little coming if the people (yes the same mad people) spread the word on how they think the game is bad), they usually quit before reaching 20 or so or they might see that you have to "pay to win"...blah blah if you want me to get into more details about this then yeah
Orange: They are an individual typing their opinions.

Cyan: Despite the fact that fewer people would actually have "Fun" from it does not necessarily mean the others "Won't" some of them won't even bother about it, some will keep going the way they are :], Massive Quit Threads, whats the significance of these massive threads compared to the amount of people flooding world chat in-game atm? Divide the amount of people still playing by the amount of people quitting and it'll tend to inifnity :]
Dark Orange: Obviously they planned ten times ahead of what me, you or anyone is thinking about their "cash flows" do you honestly think they are at a loss due to this event? - hell no, they're doing business; and must've something in their mind while introducing this sceam, they are well aware of the statistics etc and obviously initiated this event because it was bound to be beneficial to them, they're not hitting a target in a dark room - they know what they're doing; are slightly better judges of themselves than any person in-game :]
Grey: Mad people spreading word - come on dude, what are the number of people compared to the amount of people discovering PWI everyday - Nothing at all, this is impractical, besides, whats the best a quitter can do to disseminate the word (which is infact HIS opinion, does not make the game bad at all), post a thread or maybe two about it? that's something that always goes on & doesn't do anything at all. b:victory
Red: A very common misconception "Pay to win" is actually "Play-it-right" to WIN" no matter how much cash you got, give this n00b a R8 weapon and he'll start pawning everyone? - no sir, a good player with half decent gear will be able to beat him, ofcourse he will have a gear advantage, but that does not mean that he'll "win" - "It's the man behind the gun" ALWAYS, no matter what, trust me
Blue: Vice versa actually, once again, go and see the amount of chat flooding and compare that to the number of quitters, which are not even noticeable unless you go to the threads, the "Many" quitters are nothing compared to the number of people playing & this is the current situation, soon, those quitters will come back/new ones will come in and replace them. b:bye0 -

The mounts were free. 72 million coins or 72 gold.. that's not free. It's definitely less than 600m+ via tokens, which is almost tenfold the cost. But anyhow, you're basing your accomplishments on how others get it after you. Add onto that, now you're saying people who pay for Rank 9 are untouchable and this has ruined the game, some week or two after you just purchased Rank 8. Double standard much? Please be honest, you paid a truckload of cash to wanna pay for being in a small group of elites who had Rank 8 (most of them cash shopped btw), and you got unlucky about your financial decision.
72m for F2P players > 600m+ because it's much easier to get a near tenth of the coin. So yes, it's easier for both F2P players and for P2P players -- overall, more can get it.
Uncannys will not lose value because of this. Nirvana legs are not bothered at all inherently by chip or rep sales. People who farm -chan or -int gear will not stop farming Nirvana to avoid this because the Nirvana chest plate does not give either. Rank is only directly competitive to Nirvana for weapons and chest pieces. Rings are obviously unrelated entirely. No one in their right mind would choose any of the other rank gear over alternatives. The only thing that affects cannys are supply and demand. At first cannys were dirt cheap following the maintenance that gave us rep but that's cuz they are always dirt cheap following a maintenance. The price steadily goes down during 2x because of the usual supply and demand. I don't anticipate though any of this will matter since you're obviously out to rage and blame everything else without much logic put into it.0 -

Try again. Most high level players on the older servers have had enough. They've left, their guilds are dying, and pretty much everybody is in a gloomy mood...unless you count the: "OMG STOP QQING LOLOMGWTFBBQ?~!" People. They're just here to try and feel like they're so grown up because they're not mad and too blind to understand just how damaging this sale is to the rest of the gaming community. Just because it doesn't effect YOUR gameplay, doesn't mean it's not **** the rest of the playerbase over.
Dark Orange: Obviously they planned ten times ahead of what me, you or anyone is thinking about their "cash flows" do you honestly think they are at a loss due to this event? - hell no, they're doing business; and must've something in their mind while introducing this sceam, they are well aware of the statistics etc and obviously initiated this event because it was bound to be beneficial to them, they're not hitting a target in a dark room - they know what they're doing; are slightly better judges of themselves than any person in-game :]
.......Did you seriously just say that they know what they're doing?
.....Exactly how long have YOU been playing?
There is nothing buisness-worthy about this idea, much like there was nothing good about killing off TW. (They did give the excuse that gold prices would go down. With 1.2mil in Lost City, how well do you think that one worked out? Notice that they said it was a 3 month trial period...and that was in July/August.)
Grey: Mad people spreading word - come on dude, what are the number of people compared to the amount of people discovering PWI everyday - Nothing at all, this is impractical, besides, whats the best a quitter can do to disseminate the word (which is infact HIS opinion, does not make the game bad at all), post a thread or maybe two about it? that's something that always goes on & doesn't do anything at all. b:victory
.....You really haven't been here long, have you?
Everybody who comes to the forums after playing the game for a certain while learns the true nature of the developing company after a few days. I first came to this forum when my old Elf Priest was level 34. I've been slowly harboring outrage and distaste ever since.
Red: A very common misconception "Pay to win" is actually "Play-it-right" to WIN" no matter how much cash you got, give this n00b a R8 weapon and he'll start pawning everyone? - no sir, a good player with half decent gear will be able to beat him, ofcourse he will have a gear advantage, but that does not mean that he'll "win" - "It's the man behind the gun" ALWAYS, no matter what, trust me
It's possibly to play-it-right to win. Unfortunately, the mass majority of the playerbase no longer does that. You could faceroll the keyboard and take out a barb with 25k HP as an Assassin if you have Rank 9. Try again.
Blue: Vice versa actually, once again, go and see the amount of chat flooding and compare that to the number of quitters, which are not even noticeable unless you go to the threads, the "Many" quitters are nothing compared to the number of people playing & this is the current situation, soon, those quitters will come back/new ones will come in and replace them. b:bye
......New ones will replace them, and then come to the forums, or hear about how terrible the game management is and leave. And so you're stuck with a constant flow of gamers.....who are constantly leaving.
Try again, less biased and narrowsighted opinions next time.
