i'd vote for a rollback, everything is stupid. only saw one positive thing, the hyper button on top left of character info bar.
decrease clutter by making stuff bigger? bigger stuff increases clutter, fail...
we can tell the type of chat it is by looking at name color, get rid of the stupid wc tags which create even more clutter when was claimed to be the reason for the changes.
seriously ya'll should create a poll on who wants a rollback to before this patch and get rid of new changes.0 -
Item Linking? Good.
Everything else? No... just... no.0 -
[Apologies for the wall'o'text.]
I've lurked the forums for ages, but this is the first time I've felt strongly enough about something to post.
The linking items thing is great. It's a feature that I've been hoping would be implemented for a long time. There are still a couple of hitches with it, but it's new so understandable.
The changes to the font disgust me. I couldn't sit here for more than 5 minutes before I had to pop an aspirin. The only reason I didn't log was because I had friends depending on me for a TT run.
When I first read that there would be "localization" changes, I was excited. I work for a rather large software company and in my world; "localization" means fixing things so that they are translated correctly or are more ascetically pleasing. Apparently that's not what it means in China.
Here's a short summary of what others have said as well as a few things that I've noticed myself:
Font:
- The size is too big. I for one had the font size turned down before the update. It's now even bigger so I can't get it down to the size it used to be.
- The font is too jagged. If there have to be more pixels, please at the very least make them smooth.
- Why on earth do we need tags to tell us the meaning of colors that have been there for forever? It's in the ToS that you have to be 13+ years old to play. Do you really think that anyone over the age of 13 can't remember what color is associated with what? These tags just add more bloat to something that was already inflated.
- Just about every dialog box has gigantic text as well:
-- Friends List: The names almost span the entire width of the box. I'd hate to think of what a slightly longer name would look like. Plus it's harder to scan through who is online due to the extra scrolling.
-- Guild Panel: Commissioner rank just about spills over to the title column. Barbs are misaligned in the class column.
-- Squad Panel: No checkbox for archers. [Non]Faction Member strings spill over into the list of nearby players.
-- Quest Panel: Quest list now has horizontal scrolling. I don't remember this being there before, but I may just have missed it. It's nice as text was cut off before hand, but now the text is so wide that it's an absolute must. (Adding a new problem with a solution still yields a problem.)
-- Character Panel: Also unnecessarily wide.
-- Genies: Partial stamina no longer shows. Main genie menu: just open it. Everything is off. Exp infuse page: Just open it and look at the xp bar. I lol'd.
-- Character Panel: The number for the hp, mp, and xp are too tall. They overlap onto the other bars. Also the level number is off-center. (This is a bit of a nit-pick, but my OCD is going berserk after this update, so I'm listing everything I see.)
-- Encyclopedia: When searching monsters, the monster name stretches out of the pick-box and then gets cut off.
-- Safety lock settings: "Change Setting:" string overlaps with the input box slightly.
-- Auction House: When using a filter, the top most category list no longer fits in the box, you now have to scroll. (I can live with this, but it is a nuisance.) In the "Pet Eggs" category title, "Eggs" is gold; everything else in that menu is white. When you get down to the 3rd level menu, you have to scroll on the horizontal to see the whole title. In the overall interface, the search button in the top left is smaller than its text. Same with most of the buttons on the bottom left. [Good change: The pane that lists the items no longer scrolls vertically; you just skip straight to the next page. I really like this. If you haven't gotten it by now, I dislike scrolling.]
-- Fitting Room Panel: Title is no longer centered.
- When chatting, hitting [Esc] no longer clears your box. This makes it harder to switch between chats (for those of us who dislike backspace). Plus, I foresee lots of "wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww" chats in the near future. -.-
- Our text smilies now look like ****. Thanks for forcing us to buy ones that look cute.
Item Linking:
- Awesome so far. Can't wait until it's fully functional.
- If you have a maxed inventory, items in the "extra slots" can't be linked.
- Items can only be linked if they are in your inventory or bank. It'd be great to link from a catshop, NPC (forge), or the Auction House, just to name a few places.
- There are some issues with some items being linked. I was unable to link an Illusion Lord's Stone to a friend in a pm and a guildie was unable to link a Primeval Stone to world chat. There are bound to be others.
That covers most if not all of the UI stuff. I even read through all the previous posts (up until the time I started writing this, so it's probably grown by now) and pulled other people's points out for you. GM's, I know you don't have direct control over the actual bits in the game. But here are our concerns, please pass them on to the people who do.
And to think, this is just the UI thread. I haven't even gotten to the TW thread nor many of the other outstanding issues threads.
Thank you for your changes pwi. Your lack of consideration for what your population, both paying and non-paying, want is truely astounding. I always thought I'd see this game through to the end. If not for the content, then for the friends. However, enough is enough. There are other means of communication and if I feel like my eyes are going to bleed when I talk to my friends, I'll take my friends and go elsewhere.0 -

Item linking, ok.
The font is not only terrible, it gets in the way.
Genie stamina bar is bugged, so you can't just look at "how much "fuel" it's got left", I can't tell how much lucky points or stamina/energy it has, it's like
"sta8m70500" than "Stamina: 870500".
Also let's not forget, you use a genie skill and all the yellow energy DISSAPEARS, untill 100% recharged, it's invisible while at 0.5~99.9% energy and then it POPS UP when at max. Silly.
Also I'm smart enough to remember "pink=i got whispered" than "You just god whisper'd, IT'S A PERSONAL MSG BECAUSE YOU'RE WHISPERED...whisper...in pink because it's a whiseper too >=D ...oh did I mention it's a whisper?" There are guides telling new players what collour is what. Seriously.
Also I can't see the red/blue bars in my MH/HP, it's confusing for me, it's much faster to see how much "red" you got left, before you die, than "how much is 870 from 3500, hmm, oh I died while looking at my HP bar". And yes, I know I can click the yellow ball on my bar to have a bar above my head, that's like a hameleon, try to see how much Hp you have left above your head, while standing before a red scenery...it gets INVISIBLE, hehe.Achievment unlocked: Lagg

I know why you cry, but it is something I can never do.0 -
Well grats pw you actually managed to get me to log out and not play for the night b:cry
The changes made to chat (terrible font and those stupid tags) and the graphics (slightly fuzzy/blurry) have made the game pretty much unplayable for me. I very quickly developed eye strain and a nasty headache. Also ended up with a screen so cluttered it felt awkward and uncomfortable and after trying every adjustment possible I was forced to give up. b:angry
Please enough with the fixing what isn't broken. If it works leave it alone b:beg0 -
Item Linking good.
Everything else FAIL FAIL FAIL!!
Time to ditch Perfect World, this game officially sucks.0 -
suddenly these become the biggest problem ever happen

Font is just fine as far as the chat screen goes if you put it back down to smallest size through the settings.
However, the new chat icons (world, market etc) are hella annoying, and the font adjustment doesn't apply to genie and character UI parts which is just horrendous.
Props for the item linkage though, pretty awesome sauce.b:dirty0 -
Font size: Take it down a couple of notches and we'll be good.
The bigger problem is not being able to clear your outgoing chat line with the Escape key. What. The. Hell. Bring it back. >_>
The "World/Market/Team/Normal" etc. tags on chat should be an option that you can turn on/off.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Yes, I'm still a stubborn holdout in favor of the old game. Haters gonna hate. ;]

Item linking is great, overall most of the UI changes are don't care whatever, but I'm going to be a glass half empty guy for a bit here ...
I work as a software developer, so I get that there are always limited time and limited manpower available to spend fixing bugs. I get that the customer is never truly satisfied, but ...
Once again, we have a patch that is full of "fixes" for problems that never existed and none for the ones that do. Were people complaining that the font was no good? Were people sending in tickets asking to move the Hyper EXP button to the top of the screen? Neither of these changes is horrible, but was this really the top priority biggest bang for your buck change you could find to work on? Seriously?
Furthermore, once again we have a patch that clearly didn't go through enough testing before it got pushed out. I guess nobody bothered opening the genie screen to see how it worked with the new font.
Good news: finally a major update that didn't mess up all my UI settings, delete all my macros, and clear my blacklist. Congratulations for that, I guess.0 -
The item linking thing is awesome, but the font is killing me and about 90% of all the boxes in the game. The font is too large, for example, for my quest window, so it's hard to see quest names, etc. Plus the genie window is just ridiculous looking now. It would be fine if all text (not just the chat box) could be adjusted in the options box, I suppose. Not good, but all right.
Anyway, I think players should be given something in the options box to switch between fonts (the old one and this new one) and turn off/resize the little text bubbles that say "WORLD" and "PRIVATE" and such. Everything's just so cluttered right now.0 -
Uh you've always been able to change the font size and unbold it.0
-
I like the chat font but the font for the profile and genie are a dyslexic's worst nightmare. Terrible, abysmal.0
-
chatbox yes, front and size-> NOOOOOOOOO!!!
i prefer the old front[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
well now its necessary! XD0

I like the item linking. Makes sense, less confusion over what is being sold so the buyer can evaluate it accordingly before deciding to go ahead or not.
Chat tags i'm not bothered about personally though they should be scalable with the font size or have an option to not display.
The font size after logging in after the update I felt was too big and reduced it accordingly however the chat tags did not and hence look inconsistent.
Font with regards to the rest of the UI, text is too large in parts especially with the buttons. Lots of text overflow.
Examples of font issues include:
- Text overflow with Confirm button on the Auto Path dialog window
- Text overflow in the Squad window with respect to some class types
- Text overflow in Monster info box of longer named monsters
- Font size doesn't seem appropriate for some places like in Quest log, Friends List & Encylopedia i.e. too big
Other UI comments / issues:
- Archer check box on the Squad window doesn't display properly
- Boutique window seems to be a lot larger
The larger font size on the stackable items makes them more legible in my opinion.
Things personally I would like:
- Server time included with the Server status window
- Thousand comma seperators with numbers e.g 24,245,245
I would state that all above is with 1280 x 960 windowed resolution.
I tried lowering the resolution to 800 x 600 as i've noticed via screenshots other players play with resolutions lower to mine. Game looks very clutterred at lower resolutions. with things like HP & MP bar, genie window, chat box taking up a larger proportion of screen space. Perhaps some of these things should scale with resolution.
I wonder if the generally larger font size may perhaps suit Chinese characters better than English which might explain the font sizes that we see. However it does not justify them being here as quite simply, they don't suit it and makes the interface look bad and clutterred. A person trying PWI for the first time today after this patch might be wondering what is with this messy interface.
Regards.

Edit: Chat box now has a BoI feel to it now.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Item linking is pretty nice, it's a useful addition to the game. However, that new font OR the tags beside each message - is most definitely not.
I'm sure you can all agree that we're too used to the old font, but honestly this one seems to hurt my eyes because it seems too...wide. No, I will not change my resolution to the point where I distort everything (Or my artwork that I do quite often would come out distorted also). The tags next to each message is absolutely UNNECESSARY - I mean come on, we are not color blind to the point where we can only see black and white. I'm sure the entire game knows green = squad, blue = faction, yellow = world chat etc etc. It's honestly a waste of space putting those tags there, and hurt my eyes much further.
On the other hand, I can play without wearing my glasses...but I still get the same effect of a headache with or without them on -.-0 -

I'm sure it fits well on 1920 by 1080, but I'm on a laptop.
That's not my biggest pet peeve though.

The chat icons is the only thing I would remove. Linking is great, the font looks good. It seems to be, after looking at screen shots, that the only people complaining are the ones running the game at really low resolutions. This game is NOT graphic intense at all, get a decent video card, run at a higher resolution and stop crying. So step up whiners, and go ask for a raise in your allowance or leave. No one will miss you.0

Click on a different channel button. Clears outgoing chat except for the symbols to chat in that specific channel.0 -

My graphics is actually pretty good compared to others. It still burns my eyes, though. Certain fonts do that to me. That's one of them, sadly.
@MistaBwanden - Haha honey, of course you would.0
