Yea, it sucks but w/e.
I'll eventually have nice event gear, merching is my path.
Cashshopping is just not an option.
I know some people do both.....charge like $500 and then merch that money.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

There's quite a few people here that share that kind of sentiment, they don't want to farm for their gear, they don't want any difficult or long-term goals, they want instant gratifcation, and I'm sure this thread is full of them, I know the forum is.
What gets me is that people like the OP complain about this... In a free-to-play game it is the cash-shoppers that provide revenue to the company which allows those who don't cash-shop to continue to play for free (and those who don't cash-shop are supplying coins to those who sell gold so non cash-shoppers are a critical part of the population too!). Those who are cash-shopping may be in over their heads (Stilled of Archosaur), but there's quite a few that have probably finished their academic studies, work hard every day to earn a decent salary, and instead of spending $300-400 on a golf weekend at an exclusive club, they blow it on +10 Lunar gear in a game they play. Pumb Dumb's idea that Usually people that spend that much money are using disability checks an such or just experienced the credit card, is just the pathetic kind of envy I've seen expressed here. Asserting that "usually" it's the case of abuse of disability income or irresponsible spending without any evidence to back that up is just comical--by extension more than 50% of the American tax-payers must be in the same boat, right? Laughable.
People with good jobs have disposable income... it maybe more or less disposable income than what others of us have, but so what? People that complain about what others have are always doomed to not enjoy the game to the fullest. If you want to learn tips of how to play better, ideas on merchanting that everyone can do, etc. that's great, but just saying "cash shoppers suck [cuz I can't compete]," well... that's pretty lame. Get a better job that pulls down enough money for you to enjoy your leisure time as you'd like after paying all the necessary bills, but always set your own benchmarks rather than suffer the "grass is greener over there" syndrome.0 -

Buy some zen with earned game gold. True it is all luck, but i've seen quite a few people get some very nice items on just a few packs (b:surrender wish it were me). Bottom line, no u do not HAVE to cash shop. It just takes a goal, some hard work and some creativity to get something that you want.
^ That's exactly it!!
Everytime I reach a goal, I have to think of another. The moment I cannot think of another goal, I am done. Simple as that...
You can get everything you want in this game without spending a cent. I used to be skeptical on that and then I tried it and you can do it. A goal, motivation and some work = win b:cute[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Would you by chance happen to have any of this gear i mentioned? if so, plz GTFO.
I simply asked how so many people have it. And if they all were cash shoppers.
I came off as complaining to you. This game in unbalanced and Someone who NEVER spends real money on this "Free" game will never be able to compete with a full blown cash shopper.Facebook.com/foxi187

I think he has about 2.5 billion coins (in items intended for resell) by merchanting.
There's also Warrenwolfy on your server who's close to getting 1 bil as well as several other merchants.
With 2.5 billion coins, he probably can outfit his character and have better gear than 99% of cash shoppers.0 -

Some people don't even play the game IMO, they just cash shop.
A guy on raging tide has full +7 or higher event and TT99. has a +11 nirvana weapon.
Did a TT run with him a few days ago and he said that it was his first time ever doing 2-3.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Lol my guess is chrono.I'd like to know one thing. Are you and the other ones who said they farm so easily, the OP ones with event gear and all that stuff already? I mean, I know if for example you solo TT you get a lot of money fast but... this is about those that do not have event gear and/or 5 atk/sec
My gear is average I'd say.

I've never used hypers or oracles. I grinded to 78 and did gamma to 85. I finished delta, I tried FCC twice, did lunar. Only things I haven't done are CoA, Nirvana, and Warsong. I don't play much these days but what else is there to do when you're 100. People do TTs and BHs to make coins at my level and I got enough already. I set up my shop and I check it once or twice a day and then I'm off to bust my **** in school work and my job.

That basically means you've never played this game, defined by me. Well, that's a quick reaction. Do you stay online 24 hours a day or what, lol. You worked your **** off to earn yourself uber gears so that you can pk everyone, lol. Come get your full set. You'll learn your lessons soon.0 -

Weren't you the one to start mentioning about him? lol. It just popped up in the first page and I was in the mood to share. Not once I initiated a discussion about him. I was just a follower, hah. You could be him though. He's practically a rubbish player, no doubt about that. The only thing that interests me is the problems he created and how someone could solve it. Period.0 -

...you'll kick my ****.
No seriously, you will. But so what? I spend way too much time mucking around doing silly, pointless things in the game to ever be considered any sort of major threat to anybody. I think I might possibly be the #1 ranked Serpent Isle Dungeon Racer (if such rankings existed), but I'm under no delusions that that's anything but laughable.
I view my accomplishments differently than other people, I guess, and I play for my own amusement. I'm kinda proud of the fact that I've had the same Guardian Scroll sitting in my inventory, un-used, for the past 25 levels, and that I can count my total PvE deaths on one hand, but I also know that the reason there's no ranking system for "almost never dies" is because nobody else really cares but me.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

It is a true fact that 90% of the people you see with those "insanely epic" gears are just making up for not being the best at their class. Good gear doesn't make a person themselves good, and the writer of this thread needs to get that through his head.I have nothing to say.0

So you follow him. I guess you're more of a stalker.
I remember reading his thread and just wanted to show the OP that a non-cash shopper can compete with cash shoppers.
And also, what problems did he create? I only remember him posting in his thread. I actually am thankful because I learned a little about how to make coins myself by reading his thread. I also remember you trying so hard to figure out who he was, seems a little obsessive to me.0 -
YsoEmo - Sanctuary wrote: »I only remember him posting in his thread. I actually am thankful because I learned a little about how to make coins myself by reading his thread.
I think that's what Oya's problem is. He thinks that by me making that thread, more people are becoming merchants so he has more competition.
And Oya, what makes you think that I even care for PK? I play this game for leisure and see how far I can go without using RL money not to prove how big my e-peen is to anyone by "beat the **** out of him". But I guess some people got stuff to prove in a game.

See, that's the thing you don't seem to get. I casually cash-shop and I'm not afraid to admit it. I hardly compete with people who regularly cash shop, and I won't pretend that i do.
You're right this is a game, however everything that is hard to work for or achieve in a game shouldn't just be given away because you can spend thousands on the game. What is even the point of playing if there is no real long term goals? Much of the end-game gear was designed to be difficult to get so once you did get it, you could be proud of your accomplishment and not everyone would have it. The point isn't really having the best gear, it's working hard so you can be one of the few who have it.
People who think that's too much like work are playing the wrong game. If acheiving a goal seems like work to you, then perhaps a FPS or other game would be more suitable for you.I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -
prob is that u cant get those goals by 'normaly' playing game
u have to cash shop, merchandise or be 5aps or herc-veno or cler with good friends b:chuckle
if u cant leave pc for 24h on, and if u are wizzy, psy, not claw archer, not op sin, or not fist bm then ur bit screwed
well, u can still make nirvana or tt ofc- but in big squads or lower insances, where money making is slow..
people are -rightly- disapointed that they cant win game by playing it, but are forced to find other ways to be 'averange' nowadays (op just want lunar stuff which is really common, almost basic stuff at eng game)BUILD EFFICIENCY CALCULATOR: pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1129681

Note that I'm not agreeing that cash-for-power is a good thing, but that is the way of things in PWI... and as Warren says, even the best gear in the hands of an inept player won't give them real power, but it certainly does seem to generate some deep-green envy among quite a few.
Those who think cash-for-power ruins a game might want to check out Battle of Immortals or Forsaken World... in one of the dev-diary videos for BoI, the product manager says something along the lines of "Our devs in China have learned that Western players don't mind cash-for-convenience, but absolutley hate cash-for-power and we've incorporated that cultural shift into the cash-shop of our latest game Battle of the Immortals." Not a direct quote, but that was the reader's digest of what I got from the interview.0 -
i don't really have anything against cash shopping. I do think some go a little over board. If i'm at target and have 10 er 20 bucks to spare than i'll get a card, but i don't see the point in goin for broke. It's just a game, you don't gain anything irl for having the best PWI gear. Just a thought. Don't get me wrong, i love this game and try to support it if i can, but i like to keep most of my pay-check. Money don't come cheap. :P0
-
i am kinda curious... does all the lunar or nivana or what ev stuff really give you THAT much of an edge? Not knockin anything i'm just curious on what the effects of having it is. Is it one of those things that only PK players shoot for?0
