Who cares what all your stuff is worth. What would you do if you sold all your gear LOL. If i sold all my gear i'd have 500 mil +, i dont really know tbh. The fact is, money has been harder to make the past few months. I can go into reasons why but i dont feel like explaining.
Also, 5-6 mil isn't alot of money at all. That's pocket change i store on my storage alt's alt.
my 2 cents b:sad
b:beg can I has your change in pocket?

wall of text!!!
anyways, the ppl who dont spend money can still survive. i have never spent a penny, and im 9x with decent gear. not +12 rank armor like some ppl in server... but im okay.

Again, I'm not reading all these posts. The drop rate in this game is severely underbalanced with current gold prices. How am I supposed to gather enough coins to afford a Herc and Nix (each goes around 80-100mil)? Then you got gear, tomes, mounts, and skills. Making money in this game ISN'T hard, but making ENOUGH money is.
Buy low and sell high? Are we playing an mmorpg or the stock market?0 -
I stopped reading after about page two because the majority of people have already said everything I was thinking.
You don't look like you're at the high levels. It's all cool being worth 6-8 million, but first you have to sell that stuff. Then try and make it last until the 8x, when you have to buy the TT gear you can't get no matter how many runs you go on, the skills, and whatever else you happen to need. Maybe throw in a charm or two depending on how you plan to play a game.
It is incredibly - incredibly - easy to go through 40 million a day on PWI if you go out your way to get the good gear. If you aim to get gear that will keep you alive you're probably looking at about 10 million or so and it's only worth anywhere up to fifteen levels before you really need to start looking for better gear - unless you're going to refine stuff out the **** and then maybe it'll be okay.
At higher levels you burn money fast between making sure you have gear good enough to keep you from dying and keeping your skills levelled. You're worth 8 million? Congratulations, every 8x player here is worth at least twice that and they probably still need to spend yet more money to max skills and prepare to get the next stage of their gear.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Most, if not all MMO's have an economy within them. It's just what happens when you put a bunch of people together with tradable commodities. Learning the economy and when to capitalize on opportunities is one of many ways you can earn yourself some money. I'm not saying the situation right now is the best for us, but buying low and selling high - turning money into more money, is how a lot of us make a living. If you can't be bothered to take note of what's happening around you, it's very easy to be left behind.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Granted, my gear is mostly just generic stuff, and probably only worth 25mil total. It's not that I can't afford to spend 80mil, it's that I decided to save up for Rank 6 instead.Kannone - Heavens Tear wrote: »2.) Buy low & resell only works when you have a huge amount of coinage to begin with (unless you're taking big gambles).
-If you're into playing the market (at the moment my 2nd favorite part of this game), the best way to do is to invest $20-30 in the game during a big sale and start from there (otherwise the time spent vending & flipping is just ridiculous).
For example, you can buy Honey Juice for 2000 each and sell them for 5000, provided you sell them where people want them. Problem is, you can only sell about 100 or so each day, on average. So if you're starting with 200k (which is roughly what a new player can generate on their first gaming session just by collecting drops), you can earn a profit of 300k per day if you invest it this way, meaning you can have 2million in just 1 week, and around 5million after week #2.
From there you can make the jump to markets where the markups are lower but the volumes are greater. As long as you know what you're doing (and I admit that's a HUGE "if") you don't need to spend a penny to get started.
This isn't just me talking theory. My cousin started playing 2 months ago and I gave him the same basic advice. I haven't talked to him much since then, but last night he informed me that he just earned 7.5million in one day, which I assume he meant gross, so probably 3million or so was profit. He's yet to charge Zen, and he hasn't even reached the stage of learning how the Auction House Gold exchange works, which is where most of the really big profits can be had.Asperitas - Lost City wrote: »This is how every merchandising business in the world functions. Yes, I do provide some degree of service, and I myself prefer the convenience of buying from other people's cat-shops when I need something, but in reality most of the profit I make comes from me knowing things that they don't.
The odd thing, though, is that even when I tell people exactly how to get the same cheaper prices that I pay, nothing changes. 95% don't want to hear it, and find one excuse or another to dismiss any advice I offer.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Zoe's not saying that we earn profits because other people are lazy. She's saying merchanting = scamming. Which I disagree with.
That's how markets work. Buyers and sellers try to maximize their gains, and their demands meet somewhere in the middle. That's the price where goods will be traded at. If the economic cost of purchasing a good from a supplier is more expensive than you doing it yourself, quite obviously you would be inclined to do it yourself and refrain from purchasing the product. If you're paying the price, you are accepting that price and you are showing that you are willing to pay that price to the supplier. There is no "scamming" going on. Everything is transparent.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
It's hard to make money in this game? I haven't noticed. I currently have over 100k at level 15 simply from selling a couple armor drops here and there along with some decent gear that I crafted myself.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
-
Uh, right. I've been merchanting since level 1. I've currently got 5 mil. I had 300k a couple of days ago (gambled and lost). 3.3 mil yesterday. 1.8 mil day before that. Now, I don't do quests but I still do my dailies. What you've got is about 6 mil from just merchanting-BUT FOR HOW LONG? If I had the time at level 40, instead of having about 2 mil I would have about 10 mil. I don't grind or do anything like that. Except once I think, when I needed 5k or something and went to wolves and got a rough fur. But basically, what I'm saying is, it's not hard to make money- but the higher level you get the more you need. Making isn't the problem, but saving is.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Zoe's an ultra-idealist. There's a small grain of truth to the fact that a lot of the profit from being a merchant comes from either catering to other people's vices, or else taking advantage of their ignorance of how to get better prices. That grain of truth, namely that profit is being made off the weakness of others, is what Zoe uses as the foundation to build a pillar of righteous indignation upon.
Now, in a liberal (small "l" liberal, I mean) society, people are expected to take responsibility for themselves, and so if somebody is lazy, ignorant, or impatient then it's not considered a moral transgression to charge them for it. But not everybody believes in liberal ethics.
A lot of people think morality must be enforced upon the masses by a few morally uncorruptable leaders, and that perceived offenders must be dealt with harshly, lest everything goes to heck. Zoe looks at giving (and trusting) people with economic freedom and concludes that it will only lead to exploitation, greed, and corruption. In my experience, ultra-idealism and such extreme pessimism about human nature typically go hand in hand.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

In the end, with a player-based economy, there will alsways be players who think of ways to make money and others who get poorer and poorer. If you don't want such segregation, don't play a game with a player-based economy, that's all...
Now if you still wanna play this game, be prepared to fight for your coins. Personnaly, getting money for me is pretty much like getting xp for some players. I see it as a challenge. I work hard for my coins. I learn prices and invest. Sometimes I win, sometimes I loose. In the end, I'm proud of all I made. Now when someone tells me that marketing is a scam, I almost wanna laugh. It's part of the game, accept it...0 -

Since I'm only level 81, my Rank 6 ring is actually the only piece of Rank 6 equipment I can currently use.
It has Atk +85, Crit +2%, Chan -3%, HP +120, which I admit isn't very impressive considering I paid 165million for it. b:surrender
For his level, though, the OP is roughly on-track with my economic progress. And I don't charge Zen either.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Warren beats me in money making.
Though a good effort, you can't teach everyone how to make a better living, just like you can't teach a certain Zoe how free market works.
Why rank6? With your worth you could've gotten +12GX with the black friday sale of dragon orb ocean.
Oh well unless you have rank8 in sight b:chuckle0 -
honestly dude, you dont know anything. at 9x you have pieces of HH gear that are worth 10 million.
To be honest your perspectives on making money in this game is all based on perception. If your saying making 25 mil for a frost weapon isnt to terribly tough, well your probably right. if you thinking of stuff like wings of cloudcharger, or sinrabansho or refining higher lvls or items like that then yes making money is absoultey insanely difficult unless you cashshop like crazy0 -

But in all seriousness, I think it's that going after the same incremental equipment upgrades that everybody else is after just doesn't seem like that exciting of a goal to work towards. Plus, both of us going for Rank 6 was a goal both my girlfriend and I were able to do together, so it made it more fun.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
