Don't become a cleric if you don't like abuse

Under the heading of ya gotta love it: You ask the squad to gather up for buffs; they don't. After each melee the members scatter and take off for the next mob. You say, "rebuff." They ignore you. All the while, you're draining your charm spam healing the tank and tossing quick heals on other squad members, trying to heal them before the next skirmish while they grab all the drops, and run off. Finally, you come to the boss, everyone accidentally congregates, you throw a quick buff, and some dipstick has the unmitigated gall to comment: "At last, the cleric buffs."
And one other gripe while I'm venting: I don't mind resurrecting other players, even though it impedes already slow grinding sessions, but for gawd's sake, when you ask for a rez, will you PLEASE tell us where you are. Oh, yeah, and after we've wasted 5 minutes looking for your dumb azz because you didn't mention the little fact that you were in the air, a "thank you" would be nice.
Sorry for the rant.

for the buff part, if they arent paying attention, just buff the people who are near you and let that person die. Or refuse to move and let him die on his own. If he isnt paying attention more than likely he is the type that causes a party wipe.
As for rezzing people, I dont rez unless the person is in viewing distance or in my faction. + im usually too lazy to type in the coords so i ask for an invite so i can see where the person is. If they dont invite then i don't rez <_<0 -

I dont normally have this problem. Most of the higher level people I squad with will gather when I get ready for squad buffs. I make it clear at the beginning to get close to me for buffs otherwise your on your own. Just have to make sure that you are heard.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Happened to me twice. Both times I explained that I had been asking them to stop. One time, the person who griped apologized nicely. The second time, I was informed that they shouldn't have to wait for me to buff. Take a wild guess which one of those two times resulted in me leaving them stranded at the boss and going about my business?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Thanks for the sig Ophida0 -
I just command control of the squad. People learn real quick that if they don't obey you, they don't get heals. The sad part being that I do kinda like the abuse, but I don't get it anymore -- with the small exception of when the group wipes, that's usually my fault, and I do get all the blame. =P[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

I've been known to just leave if stuff gets like that :P I'm the cleric, they NEED me, if they treat me like dirt, I leave.
Trust me, when you threaten to leave, they listen xD Their life is in your hands >_> you don't have to heal them if you don't want to. b:chuckle Don't disrespect the cleric, I'll let the boss have them.

This probably happens in every game with healer classes.Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.0

Oh, it does.0 -
At my early start as a cleric I let my self became crazy to heal everyone.
Now if you act stupid, I let you die.
I.E= a nice bm goes against 3 mobs.... he doesnt establish aggro on all of them. I say "get aggro, I wont heal" and I dont heal until he gets the aggro...
Letting ppl die is the best way to teach them :P0 -
ah clerics ... the biggest problem is even though this is a much needed class (more important than barb's in some cases) people just don't care about clerics .. whereas tank's get all the pampering .. an example
When cleric's do TT's they usually make sure they are fully charmed, repaired and carry atleast one rez scroll on them (1 rez scroll = 50k) and if rich a few GA's. So the barb doesnt take aggro for whatever reason .. the DD's are not assisting attack and hence don't pull aggro in time so the cleric is the logical choice for the boss. Cleric's instinct is always to heal the person about to die.. hence pull aggro and guess what cleric gets owned. Since its the start of the TT cleric goes to town, that is one GA = +30K (if not carrying a GA then loss of EXP). Next boss further in, same story, cleric this time uses a scroll. Squad saved, each member loses say 0.2 - 0.4% exp and you hear them saying "omg im doomed i lost exp".. cleric naturally thinks WTHb:angry ... anyho ...TT ends and banker etc worries about the barb's repair costs .. fair enough .. but what about the cleric who probably just spent 100k in saving/rezin your azzes?
I am done with my rant ...
Now that I mention TT .. squad members should always be equally compensated, if barb needs repairs, archers need ammo and veno's need loyalty for their pets (that often die when trying to lure), the good ol clerics need mana lots of it
peace out b:surrender
P.S no offence, in any way, intended for tank's (or any other class) - clerics love em and they love clerics ... lol yin&yang so dependent on each other b:chuckle0 -

I don't get what are all the alleged accusation against the public who treat the cleric badly about. I usually heard people looking for cleric on WC even offer payment for GA and scroll used, up to 5. Perhap you get 1 bad example of these people and generalize that everyone treat cleric badly?0

Please don't get me wrong here, in no way I intended to say that everyone treated cleric's badly, I was just referring to a perception I have noticed. My cleric is pretty high level and I enjoy helping - reason I starte it in the first place. I know alot of clerics whose efforts are taken for granted - cleric's are expensive char's. I was merely voicing an opinion and so was everyone else I am sure.
peace out b:bye0 -
lol were practicly gods we control if they live or die so they should obey us XD my only problem is when ppl don't and I let them die, I got a lvl 10 res so they lose almost nothing and if they still don't listen after that I just tell them to have fun using pots0

Yep, exactly. A lot of ppl just rush or pretend us to be spamming healing non stop and forget about us being SLOW!!
Clerics are SLOW! And yet... and yet you see those pretty bms and barb running at 7.0 m/s and saying "dont make my charm tick"!!! b:angry0 -

Personally, I like it when people scream "HEAL" when they pull aggro from the tank. Or "REZ" when they die. Do they honestly think we won't do those things unless they tell us?
Cleric is the only job where everyone else in the party thinks they know how to do your job better than you.
Seriously, do you every hear anyone shout "TANK" to the barb or "Do Damage" to the wizard?0 -
Well if they scream it is easier job for cleric rather than have to keep track of everyone in that little squad window. Cleric have a lot of different task they can do so it make sense they trying to tell cleric to do something. While tank and do damage are pretty much the only thing barb and wizard can do so there is not a need to shout. But they do shout "ADD" to the tank or "RUN" to the wizard though.0

Haha, don't we know it all too well.
Just let their charm tick a few times, at which point they're gonna beg for heals and QQ about their charm ticking, at which point rub into their faces that your mp charm is ticking constantly in order to prevent their hp from a single tick.
Now, if they can't be arsed to turn around in order to get you out of the physical aoe and thus saving your hp charm, I sure as hell can't be arsed to help out theirs either. Simply don't heal if they refuse to turn around. Leaves them with two, rather simple options. Either move, or die. Both have been known to happen, you win either way b:victory
Needless to say, the above goes for the avoidable physical aoes, like the ones in fb69 for instance. If the aoe is simply too big where healing from a max distance doesn't help (like the final rebirth boss), it's a moot point and you should just get bb upb:dirty0 -
I don't agree with the whole 'Clerics = God' mentality, mainly because I don't know of many gods that would die in less than 3 hits in many cases...but I do agree that communication is important. Just lay down the ground rules and people are usually fine. After that...all it takes is one good save when someone's getting ganged on in an instance to drive the point home.
"OMG I'm dying! Oh wait...yay I'm saved! Oh ****...but now they're on the Cleric! She's dea...wait a second! How the HELL is she tanking those hits!? Ack! She's yelling! I better do something before she gets pissed!" b:shocked
Of course...if this ISN'T the kind of thing that goes through their head, and they continue on in their blissful, idiotic manner...well...they COULD always be left to Town Portal back when they die. Sure, we may not be their boss, but we're not their rez beech either. b:laugh0 -

No, it's actually more difficult when they try to tell you what to do.
Because it's distracting. If everyone in the squad shouts heal when they need it or rez when they die and you are busy trying to keep the rest of the squad from wiping, it doesn't help.
Usually YOU are the one that has visibility into what the entire group is doing, while everyone else (just like you said) is generally focused on themselves. So when other people tell you to do stuff, they are not necessarily doing it with the whole party's interest in mind.
If you are a cleric and you don't know exactly who needs to be healed at any given time, then I'm sorry but you're not a very good cleric.
The point is, if you just spent the last 70 or 80 levels healing squads, maybe, just maybe, you know who needs to be healed better than a wiz who doesn't know how not to draw aggro?0 -
I had a lvl 56 Bm the other day in a fb39 shouting HEAL ME! HEAL ME FFS! while i was tanking 5 of the 6 mobs that he had accidentally pulled. After we killed the mobs he said that I was the healer and I should just stand there and heal (i was about 25 lvls higher than the nearest person in squad). LOL[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I had a barb that didn't listen to a thing I said for healer aggro. This is after I got fed up with dieing in FBs from clueless players giving me 3+ aggro mobs each time I tried to save them. First they beat the lesson that I will die if I let them grab adds without getting aggro if I heal them. So I retaught them my role was triage: if they don't get aggro of all their mobs, they don't get any more healign til they do. If they don't reposition as is needed, they don't get healed. If someone keeps grabbing aggro, and sparking still after repeated grabs, they don't get healed. The barb ignored me the first time, I took the hit. He ignored me the second time, he died without heals and did one of those WTF faces. Told him again, and he started to actually tank instead of act like a damage dealer.
In short, incompetent players will not be healed. Sure they may never want to group with me again. But just think about it, how is that not something worth celebrating? Good players will understand why you didn't heal, you are there to prevent party wipes first and foremost. One death is negligible to hours of play wasted in an instance, or a boss resetting his health. Next is heal the tank. Everyone else is a case of "if possible"Fist are the worst at PvP AND PvE, if you disagree, as I said, take it to PM's or make your own guide. Go here if you want to debate about it. - Lyndura
