Demon/Sage Mistake Please Help

Ok, please don't flame me too hard for being stupid because I know I screwed up, but I feel like it was an honest mistake that anyone could make and I doubt I'm the only one who has ever done this.
So I turned 89 today and as I do for every new lvl, I go look for my new quests. I check my quest log for new quests, and there is the sage and demon spirit cult quests listed. I click on the first one in the list, which is the sage one and it flies me to the sage npc. I pick up the quest as I do with any available quest I see in the game. When I do that, the demon quest disappears. b:shocked
I go into my quest log to try to trash the sage quest so that I can take the demon path, but the "Trash Quest" button is disabled for that quest. Now in my whole time playing PWI, I have yet to run into any other quests where taking them makes other quests go away. I also haven't seen any other quests that you cannot trash. So I was definitely not prepared for the finality of simply accepting this quest that appeared in my quest log.
I haven't done anything further on this quest at this point. Is there anything I can do to get rid of this quest so I can start the demon path? b:cry

looks like youre SOL.
what class are you, sage may be better0 -
well i'm a veno. i don't think there is a better/worse between sage/demon for veno per se, but for how i wanted to play i really preferred to take the demon path. plus i already have one of the main demon books i need.
even though it was my mistake for even going and looking at the sage quest, i feel like the punishment of being locked into the path you don't want for the rest of your chars life at pwi is quite harsh just for accepting an available quest. it's not like i'm lvl 95 and decided that i chose the wrong path after weeks of playing- i literally just turned 89 today and took the quest that was sitting there. is there a reason why this quest cannot be trashed?0 -

Surely you must have known about this choice you had to make at level 89 for the past 50 levels.
You said yourself you saw 2 quests.. one sage culti, one demon culti. Why take the sage culti if you are planning to be a demon? Did you really think you could do both? I'm sure the NPC gave you tons of warning as well.
About now your only option is to beg a GM to manually fix it. Of course manually changing data is always risky and I doubt they would take that risk for something that was your fault.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Do you remember your Twin Towers quest?

You might try trashing your crazy stone quest some time...0 -
yes asterelle, i agree with you that it was a stupid mistake and i said that up front, but i didn't say anyone could make it. all i said is that i doubt i'm the only one who has ever done this, and i still believe that.
i know that a lot people on here don't really care about what the quest npc's babble on and on about, but i for one like to follow the stories inside pwi. when i see an available quest, it is my nature to be curious and see what that quest is all about. yes, of course at lvl 89 i was aware that you can only go either sage or demon in this game. however, i was not aware that simply going through and reading everything this questgiver had to say would lock me in for good, with no chance to even trash the quest. you can't tell me that is this something that is standard with the game.
if someone mistakenly tabs the wrong boss in an fb, there is a way to trash it and get your tabs back. why would there be no way to reverse something as important as demon/sage, when i haven't completed any part of the quest except talk to the first npc?0 -

You are right. I know at least one person who has made this mistake.
However...from what I understand, one has never been able to trash a culti quest.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Yes, I must have misread it...
In any case most know that clicking through the "Quest related" options in an NPC's window means accepting a quest.
You are pretty much SOL. Given what happened there is nothing more anyone can do at this point other than to point out the numerous mistakes you made as a warning to others.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

oops asterelle you are correct- sorry bout that. in any case i hope ppl understand the point i was trying to make. basically yes, it was a mistake on my part and i should've known better, but at the same time there aren't any safeguards in place to save ppl like me from ruining their entire gameplay experience after months of building up a character. the punishment doesn't really fit the mistake, does it? i mean what other mistake can you make in the entire game that has such dire consequences?
if you die, you can get ressed, or at worse lose some exp. if you join a faction you don't like, you can leave. if you buy or sell something you didn't intend to, you lose some coins or an item. if you tab the wrong fb boss, you can trash quest and get your tab back. if you mess up your genie, you can reallocate points or reset attributes. if you mess up your own stats/skills, you can get stat or skill reset notes. the list goes on and on. why should it be that simply accepting a quest (not finishing it) that is listed in my quest list dooms me to an irreversible fate in this game?

my friend told me sage veno does more damage...
so im sure its a good thing...0 -
well there are definitely plusses and minuses to each, and i'm sure sage is better for some venos' playstyles. my choice though was to become demon for my own style of play. i don't really want to get into a discussion of sage vs. demon here because there are already many threads about that. ^^0

if you are on pve server does it really matter? ex.i dont use genies on both char cuz they are for pvp server only good genie skill is speed boost nothing else
but i bet i get flamed of that comment by pve gangsters ^^ and they start cry fix flesh ream0 -
in any state and case sage is better for veno anyways, better and longer status effect durations, more powerful spells, better damaging spark (900% compared to demons 700), and an AOE purge. its way better for any caster :P0

Ouch ... F2p stuff at his best!
PWi devs forgot this one for sure. Ask GM, they're going to fix it. They can't let you down after 750 hrs ++ of play with the same toon only cause of a common mistake. b:bye0 -

PvE servers have PK enabled, as well as PvP Territory Wars. Genies are still used by many.
Flesh ream is no longer an issue due to genies. You should try them out in TW or PK. No one cries about that anymore, and if they do, they obviously havent gotten off their lazy arses to try and fix the problem themselves. b:victory[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Duke Shouts: WTT PWI for Your Credit Card! whether sage or demon veno is better is not the point - the point is poor katie wanted demon and she made a booboo and now it's irreversible. maaaybe in a new update they'll make it so that you can "change your mind" in the middle of doing either cults. that wouldn't be a bad idea eitherElena Costel: I wash my hands of this affair.

You can try sending a ticket about it, and see if the GMs can or will do anything to help you.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
ouch feel sorry for you. i agree with you on the clicking through npc quest thing (wonder if anyone actually reads through the dialogue). curious though, weren't you excited about turning 89? it was on my mind for weeks and when i hit that magic number first thing i did was get my demon culti =P
anyway i hope a GM will get you sorted out. would be very cruel if they didnt. in my mind this has to be the biggest mistake you could possibly make in the game b:chuckle good luck0 -
While ecatomb says the spark % numbers are different for demon and sage they are actually the same at 700%, no im not sure why it hasnt been fixed on ecatomb im guessing the numbers where different on PW-MY, but here its 700% for both spark types0

Time to reroll. Atleast you'll have some nice pets when you get back to level 89.
Sage for veno has some nice defensive fox form skills, but most of the other sage bonuses kinda suck. Only good part is that most of the sage skills would be cheaper, so if those bonuses don't mean much, you can probably get the scrolls fairly easily.0 -

No, its 900% for sage and 700% for demon. I'm a sage veno and I know a demon veno. We simply read our sparks.Main characters

sage has increased status effect durations, and way higher magic dmg. if one wanted to really do mass dmg, and cripple people, sage is the better choice.
if you had to go based on the 3 FB89 skills avaliable, id still say sage was better, since it renders ironwood almost useless, and only a noob would use phoenix + demon FF to PVP, and although venomous' wood reduction is nice, i prefer the extra chi to help pull 3 sparks more quickly :P0 -
the holy spark for venos is translated wrong. both dark and holy give +700% matk, but holy offers +900% to physical attack.
notice that all the fox skills benefit a lot from going holy(i think. but i know all of the curses do). fox veno = holy, dark = caster.0 -
i had a feeling when i started this thread that it might end up turning into another sage vs. demon debate. o well, i guess the general consensus is that i'm SOL...

The "general consensus" shouldn't be taken to mean "what the actuality is". As I said earlier, send a ticket, and wait for a GM response on the issue.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

No, sorry. Did the math. It's translated fine. Then again you didn't know much of anything to begin with so you being stupid is nothing new. Like the damage you insist I did not do and were too lazy to look on the fourms and find the screenshot of. Well here you go. http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y230/foxdraco/2009-05-0314-54-42.jpg

i guess dragon isn't really an amp. it's a curse. you should try mentioning that when posting damage. b:bye0 -
