I'm offended by many of the words in the game. An NPC used the word "****" and my ears started bleeding.
On a side note, how is it that we can be playing a game about ruthlessly butchering any person or monster that stands in our way.. a game in which isn't possible for female characters to run around in extremely skimpy floss bikini outfits... yet still be worried about vague WC hentai references? And why this fixation on homosexuality? Why is it so much more acceptable to talk about straightness than gayness? That sort of intolerance is at least as bad as what you're complaining about.
I hate to break it to you, but this isn't a chruch.. this is a game in which the objective is apparently to kill things while looking as **** as possible. The game content is worth than anything (with the exception of severe racism) that could appear on WC. If you feel as though you're getting overwhelmed, work that blacklist, or ask your mommy to confiscate the game from you and give it back when you're older.

Sanctuary isn't as bad as Heaven's Tear, but I agree. However, there is nothing that can be done about it. GMs cannot prevent the broadcasting of such offensive messages without greatly limiting our ability to use it. There will always be people who will break the rules and ToS and not care, since their goal is to offend and enrage people.
The only compromise I can think of is raise the level requirement level 19, which is when people will need to call for help for Fb19. Level 5 is way too easy to reach within an hour. If the limit is greatly raised, it will be more difficult for these trolls to keep making new accounts and trolling once again.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I agree with this... the most annoying ones i find are the ones in red, announcing hetero marriages. At least you can block the yellow messages. the red ones, i haven't found a way to block in the game.0 -

The difference being that in-game marriages are part of the game and sanctioned by the game.
I would have no issues with the owner's of the game deciding to add same sex marriages or whatever, it's their game. Dunno... i only see one line of offensive worldchat, and i just click over to one of the filtered chat modes that blocks out worldchat - problem solved... and i never have to see these discussions of which you speak. *shrugs*0

That's your choice and I'm glad that works for you. I don't think that I should have to miss out on important features of the game such as announcements of groups forming etc just because other people are violating the terms of service. If they are following the rules, then yes, I have nothing to say.
I guess by your example if someone is driving recklessly rather than alert the police I should just get off the road. It's not that I have a problem with it. It's inappropriate for world chat. I have no issue with people talking about whatever in the proper places. It's not about being a prude, it's a matter of I love this game and what goes on in WC offends a lot of people who leave rather than speak up. I'd like to see the game last a long time and to do that it needs the largest customer base possible.

To the contrary: by all means, alert the police (or, in the case of PWI, send a ticket). I don't mean to imply that you shouldn't.
...but if you stay in the path of the driver you see swerving wildly toward you, because you have a right to be there, and they're in the wrong, you're still going to get hurt when they hit you. It's up to you whether the consequences are worth the benefit.
For me, if there were a way to submit a ticket within the game, without having to tab out and open a browser, I'd probably have a much lower threshold of tolerance for offensive behaviour, but i find the 'cost' of having to tab out, open a browser, and submit a ticket to be far greater than the 'cost' of turning off worldchat until the offending person(s) run out of teles (or get bored... or their mommy takes their computer away to put them to bed for the night). Apparently for you, the cost of turning off worldchat is too high to deal with. We're different people, with different sets of priorities, and i respect that; i was merely offering the suggestion of how i have dealt with the problem (and yes, i acknowledge that it *is* a problem).
However, short of eliminating the cash cow^W^W service of teleacoustics/worldchat entirely, i don't see a realistic way of stopping it. To even *control* it would take far more person-hours of GM time than i can imagine PW being willing to pay for. Bans after the fact do little to help - it doesn't undo the offensive conversation that has already happened, and the type of people who talk offensively in public chat are the same type of people who will simply create a new account and/or IP-shift to slide around the ban so they can do it again.
And as for what content is offensive, i find the trashtalking back and forth among competing guilds to be far more offensive than any sexual content... and the cuss-filter is just ludicrous and ineffective. Firecrackers and Japanese are filtered words; but insert a strategic period or space, and you can cuss to your heart's content - as many of the trashtalkers do... today on Sanctuary, there was someone boasting in world chat about how he had to use all of his teles today because he'd be banned *again* tomorrow - and started to do so in the most offensive manner he could manage (probably continued long after the two lines i read before turning off worldchat).
So... do you have any realistic suggestions on how the problem might be addressed?0 -

I have a solution. Add more GM's. There are PLEANTY of people on the servers whom are respectable, courteous, intelligent, and reliable enough that PWI could, IMO, act as low level moderators. I'm sure there are even people on PWI whom have experience moderating forums, chats, websites, and other online forms of communication, that would be willing to voulenteer their time to make PWI a better place.
I'm not saying to make these people administrators, more along the lines of a moderator of a forum. I think that people would stop abusing the game and it's features, like WC, if they were suddenly banned, even at 3 am PST, when the GM's and PWI staff are sleeping, with their families.
Not only would this elminate the 'coverage gap', but offenders would be able to realistically receive real-time warnings, be removed from the server (say, give the 'moderators' the ability to put a 5 hour ban on someone who's been getting around the swear filter for 20 minutes), and even report, or remove people who are glitching.
There would obviously need to be limits on the powers avilable to these people, and I would strongly suggest not giving them any kind of 'GM gear', or access to stuff that isn't available to regular players (IE, wings that aren't available in the Botique yet).
Realistically, this wouldn't be easy to do, and abuses of power would be a difficult thing to track, but if PWI really was serious about keeping WC PG, then I would like to see this at least considered.
It would also be a bit of a moral booster for people on the servers who support the GM's and their jobs (like me), and a bit of a notice to abusers that they aren't tollerated, even when the GM's aren't around.
Suggesting this, I'm rather positive that this idea has been thought of before, and maybe even considered already by PWI, and may be difficult to impliment. I would require handing over a degree of power to people that PWI knows almost nothing about, assuming a level of trust. But, on the other hand, that's how it is on Forums and IRC as well, the owner on big servers has to mitigate some of the responcibility to regular users to help police the place, and if someone is found unreliable, then that moderator/operator finds themself a regular user again, or even banned in extreme cases.101 Sage Sin*/Archer

Just to be clear here, someone who buys the virtual currency (ZEN) from Perfect World Entertainment will NOT be exempt from the rules. The Terms of Service apply to anyone who creates an account with us and there is no one above the law. We do look into these issues and handle them accordingly, even though you may not get a response regarding the end results of our investigation of the issue.

Realistically, I don't think offensive things in WC will ever disappear. Think about it. If someone gets banned, you know how easy it is to make a new alt and keep going? Not that it'd happen, but there are always ways to get around the rules. [not that I'd personally do such a thing]
I mean, I joke with maybe one of the people in question about these things privately, but I don't think he/she meant to offend anyone [mostly just to pick fun at me and get me spammed by friends laughing at me T_T...I wonder how I still have friends, actually XD]. In any case, I will give a personal warning to one of the people possibly in question for offending you, Shota--but I can assure you this will not solve the bigger problem of all the offensive material on WC.0 -

As much as i agree with Trenith, I'll come out with it. If i get banned, oh well, it was fun PWing while it lasted. I am the one responsible for the Tentacle WC's and i do apologize to everyone who was upset by them. I'll find other things to talk about rather than obscene things such as the prior mentioned.
