This is not a personal attack on anyone, so I won't use names, this isn't about calling anyone out.

World chat is out of hand. I know I'm not alone in thinking so. Sadly I have to speak up now because my blacklist is full, the system doesn't allow for that many names on it.

Honestly, world chat has long since passed being appropriate. It's not a personal thing, I don't care one way or another what anyone's sexual orientation is or what they find enjoyable in their private time. I'm all for people being happy if they aren't hurting anyone else.

But that last part is the key. World chat is just that.. for everyone. It is not a private soapbox for people to broadcast their homosexuality, bisexuality, lesbianism, or fetishism. It's not a place to discuss pornography, hentai, tentacle hentai, tentacle yaoi, etc. Sadly I am more knowledegable today than I was yesterday and I'm not happy with my newly acquired knowledge. i do not need to know what these things are, nor do the minors who play the game, nor do people who are out to have fun and don't want to see it.

As I said, this is not a flame. I make no public judgment on the character of people who have these lifestyles or personal interests. I just feel that this is an inappropriate venue for the near constant barrage of the dialogue.

I fully expect to be flamed, and that's fine, but I know I'm not alone. There is a solution. Use the game ticketing function and make yourselves heard. It's apparently too much to hope for these people to show some decency and respect for others, so we have to ask the people who run the game to handle it.

And for those who run the game, if you think this is appropriate for world chat then fine, just please expand my blacklist. I'm not going to boycott the game, I don't hate the people causing the issue, I would just like the ability to play the game and still watch world chat for things like grouping and such without being forced to watch the things I find offensive. It's your game so handle it as you see fit, just please either police the system better or provide us a way to block what we don't want to see.

Unfortunately, I don't see how one could filter the world chat so much to cater everyone's needs. There would be the option of turning off world chat (in common chat (currently cannot be turned off)), but then that would turn it completely off.

Therefore the only option is for GMs to monitor the world chat more. But there's only so much they can do. If there were a way to temporarily ban someone from world chatting, maybe, but no clue if that is feasible.

All the pointless profanity, talk of homosexuality, and things of that nature makes it rather difficult to use world chat effectively. I know these people are paying to use the world chat channel, but when im looking for a party or recruiting for my guild I am paying to use it as well.

I'm sure we all do our best to ignore it, but its getting worse and worse.

Although I've seen some inappropriate things on WC in sanctuary as well, it's hardly as bad as what you're talking about here, and it's never constant.

yeah, they're really bad.. and it's probably not constant but it's enough to appear constant.

I just don't believe this was the intent of world chat. I have nothing against these people or their lifestyles, I just don;t see the point of the constant discussion. yes everyone should be proud of who they are, but this isn;t about pride, it's about getting attention and it's just inappropriate.

I don't want to see day long discussion of heterosexuality either.. take it to guild chat or private chat, or make a special channel for such discussions. That would be great too.

Please screenshot any offensive material and submit a ticket with the screens attached. Make sure they are in jpeg format for size reasons. We can investigate the issue and deal any punishment needed if any. There are limits to what you can say and especially when it comes to bypassing the profanity filter or saying what would be offensive to most. The players do outnumber the GM's (not a surprise eh?) so you all would be our neighborhood watch so to speak. You all are the most valuable asset to keep this kind of thing from happening and it only takes 5 minutes to submit that ticket to us and we can handle it.

Why am I not surprised that this comment was the first response? Ok, here goes: The people the OP mentioned are actually violating PW's Terms of Service, so she's not the problem here, and WC isn't the problem here either, the people violating the rules are. It's funny that every single time people are pointing out problems like this, someone is responding with something that would roughly translate to "Turn it off if you don't like to see us idiots having our weird idea of fun there. After all, rules do not apply to us since we more 1337 than you!".

I just go with the flow of things overall. If there's a lot of violation happening in WC, I just SS it and send in a report along with a list of names to look for in the SS'.

Hopefully the GMs do address it all. Even though people pay to use WC, it does mean they are excused from ToS and Conduct.

What's funny is my post was respectful, funny how the dissenting side is less so. Honestly, why not make a private chat room and everyone who wants to discuss such things can go there and talk to their heart's content?

You'll notice I even suggested PWI make a separate channel for /OOC type conversation. I'm not trying to stifle you, I'd prefer to just be able to enjoy the game and have you do the same.

I happen to agree. Turning off world chat shouldn't be the way to solve the problem, and it IS out of hand. And my blacklist is full, too. That should tell you something seeing As I haven't been playing for very long.

Bootomline is I'm not going to hang out on the forum and debate the issue, the forum moderator has already spoken.

I don't want anyone to get in trouble, I'd just like people to use a little discretion. If they choose not to, I'll let PWI decide how to handle it. I just want to be clear that I am not on a crusade to spread my sense of morality, I just think there is a time and a place, and WC is neither.

Just to be clear here, someone who buys the virtual currency (ZEN) from Perfect World Entertainment will NOT be exempt from the rules. The Terms of Service apply to anyone who creates an account with us and there is no one above the law. We do look into these issues and handle them accordingly, even though you may not get a response regarding the end results of our investigation of the issue.

Thank you for posting this thread Shota. I agree with you 100% and I wish that I had taken a screenshot of that convo yesterday. Those comments were highly inappropriate and completely tasteless imo and the person who made them should not be playing this game.

Thanks for the kind words. I wouldn't go so far as to say that person, who shall remain nameless... and others, shouldn't be playing the game. They should be corrected at least once... whatever the rules are. I certainly don't want people to leave, I'd just like them to make use of in-game features like private chat rooms. There's room for all of us.

Just to clarify - I just meant that if someone is interested in adult chat / content, they should go to an adult site rather than using the game as a medium for their personal interests. I don't even think they should be allowed to use in-game private chatrooms for that kind of talk. That's not what PW was intended for. Of course, I don't have a problem with anyone playing this game as long as they keep it clean. I have a 5-yr old nephew who loves to play and [LUCKILY] doesn't read very well yet ;-P

This and the fact they lied to us about the permeanent charm packs is what lead to my whole family leaving this game.

The world chat is Filthy and they dont really enforce it, just give alot of warnings wich solved almost nothing so we left.

On a side note, how is it that we can be playing a game about ruthlessly butchering any person or monster that stands in our way.. a game in which isn't possible for female characters to run around in extremely skimpy floss bikini outfits... yet still be worried about vague WC hentai references? And why this fixation on homosexuality? Why is it so much more acceptable to talk about straightness than gayness? That sort of intolerance is at least as bad as what you're complaining about.

I hate to break it to you, but this isn't a chruch.. this is a game in which the objective is apparently to kill things while looking as **** as possible. The game content is worth than anything (with the exception of severe racism) that could appear on WC. If you feel as though you're getting overwhelmed, work that blacklist, or ask your mommy to confiscate the game from you and give it back when you're older.

How is it possible for you to be potentially intelligent yet unable to read my OP? I specifically said I didn't want to see conversations on heterosexuality either. Do go back and read it and see if I didn't. There was no intolerance, only your inability to read. You can rest assured I have no issues with who is and who is not a homosexual, but proclaiming it unasked and then leading the conversation to the point of being borederline cybersex for no other reason than because you need/want attention in WC is inappropriate. It has nothing to do with homsexuality except for the fact that that is the topic being pushed over and over.

You also managed to not read that my blacklist, and so for many others, is full.

IMO this has nothing to do with people being easily offended. I think too many people are overly sensitive about a lot of things (most of the time it's none of their business in the first place), but that's not the case here.

I'm going to guess that the majority of players participate because they enjoy the game itself and not because they want to read explicit messages by the losers trying to turn this into a big adult chatroom. I am not personally offended by adult content / profanity, but that doesn't mean I want to hear about it when I'm playing.

Please include your screenshot in JPG format (making sure the offending user's name is in the screenshot), include the time and date of the issue the best you can remember when the issue took place, and the user name if it is not easily seen in your screenshot.

The CS guys will work to help take care of the offenders.
