Are symbols still being allowed for character names?

    I say no non-Latin characters. If you want Kanji in your name, go play the Chinese version. Want little symbols in your name? Go scribble it on your notebook and leave the overly distracting cutesy **** out of the game. Some people can't display the symbols properly, others have no desire to see chat filled up with Chinese or Cyrillic characters. This is not about you, this is about a global standard. This is the English version, so English only.

    Don't get the complaint on no symbols. WoW, Rappelz, NeoSteam, and many others that allow characters provide easy methods to get their name. Personally think WoW's is to stupidly easy that I accidently put someone's name in my messages or send a tell to them by accident. I mean just a simple left click on their name in chat window throws it to a tell or into the message you have.

    Besides it isn't like you're going to care about their name if it's in pure ASCII 65 - 90 and 97 - 122 ranges anyway. I actually don't mind players using Asian, Russian, or whichever symbols in the name. It's just another way to individualize.

    How many times have you had to ask a mutual friend to have that person PM you, just so that you can PM him back because you couldn't simply type it.

    i would have to agree with this. it's very frustrating trying to pm a person with chinese symbols in their name. it looks pretty and all but not an easy name to type if impossible for most.

    I dont think symbols should be allowed in names. Had some problems with it on the MY version that copy/paste just wouldnt work for but since we were guests on the servers I had to deal with it. Over there i knew some chinese speakers to translate the names for me to find the person i was looking for. Here that might be abit hard to do.
