Are symbols still being allowed for character names?

    imagine i have a Wizard named Akira someone comes up with a /\kira i'd be jealous and this can also result in impersonation of people.
    but Akira and Akira278 dont bother me, because everyone would know who the original Akira is

    and please no _ and blankspace in names pls...

    I think I can agree with that, it sounds reasonable to me.

    Everyone is different and I think the stars in the char names are cute.

    I recall we had a guy in our guild once who just had a single symbol has his char name, and he was just a regular fun guy that didint do it to abuse the system or anything like that.

    #1 hard to report them - untrue
    Rightclick on the char/nick in chat log and choose "duplicate name" from the popup

    #2 hard to pm
    Why do you want to PM somone you don't know?
    Duplicate name from the chatlog if its worldchat related.

    What about #3, which comes up more often.

    response: tell your friend to grow up and make a new char with a proper name, in fact I dont think we can be friends anymore considering the things you hang out with =P

    Usually, anyways. There is the rare occasion where a name actually looks decent with symbols - like (star)Kitty(star).

    Hey anyone got a link that shows all the number pad combinations for all the symbols??
    I made a ramen symbol once but forgot the combination, and I want to know whats the combination to make a star, like the big one...

    The game is designed around those of us who speak ENGLISH. I vote we keep it that way. Chinese symbols ftL.

    Like RagingWind. :D Seriously, folks, you can't stop people from making really stupid names. Disallowing ordinary features of typing only restricts people who use them well. The dummies will still find other ways to be ridiculous.

    PS: As for Asian symbols, I think they should be disallowed because non-Asians can't read them. How can you tell others about your friends if you don't know how to say/type their name?

    Well... if they increased the number of letter available to 13, I'll get my favorite name in french (which can be wrote without special characters anyway). Otherwise, I'll fall back on the english translation.

    Everytime I had to speak with someone I could not read the names, I called them "Thing".

    Having a guild with Chinese letters is something I REALLY DON'T WANT TO SEE HERE. This is INTERNATIONAL not the Chinese,Malaysian,Japanese etc. Leave that **** there and use proper names here.

    This server wont have chinese on it, so there is no reason for chinese characters.
    There wont be russians either, so no cyrillic.
    Symbols are hard to type, and sometimes you need to type names (eg you ned to warn your guildmates of someone who is PK'ing in an area)
    Numbers... well I suppose there arnt any practical problems, but I just think numbrs in a name are silly. But I wouldnt object particularly.

    If chinese characters are allowed however, I intend to exploit the "anonymity" of such names and call myself 傻名称

    I don't want to start the whole discussion if we want it to be possible or not.
    Before I start download the client I want to know if it is possible or not. If it isn't possible I don't need to donwload it and convince my friends to switch to this server.

    I just went in and created a character with Chinese letters in it. And typed some Chinese into chat so both are possible as it currently stands.

    Well if that is the case I'm much less likely to play this. I refuse to deal with names I can't see or type. They appear as squares.
