I used to hate having to use alt symbols to pm and report people, you don't need them and it makes it soo much easier to communicate without them

    lol ^_^

Yeah. I'd prefer the symbols to be left for just guild names.

personally I like all the extra symbols you can use, it can really make your character unique, unlike other games that don't allow anything outside of the regular alphabet. I already have my name picked out so hopefully they will won't take away special characters <3

That being said, you will probably run into fifty different spellings of orinj, Orinj, oRinJ, ORinJ, orINj, oRiNj (lol this is kinda fun), oRINJ, oRINj, etc... saying stuff like, I'm a GM and need to verify your account infos (insert scam here)... >.>

But then again, if you said that to some random newb, they'd know you were bsing them because they don't know the GMs.

well I would like the symbols. Even though this is "international" and usually more for the western community, it's still "international" and originally a chinese game so I'd like to be able to type in chinese....just to **** you people off hahaah

no seriously though, it's kinda like...anti spam if people can't type your name

No. Typing Chinese is ignorant because this game is international. The international language is English - not Chinese. And if you don't like people PMing you, you can blacklist them. Sweet feature.

As times change, the world becomes more English. Anyways... I'm pretty open-minded. However, for several reasons, English in this game is one of my strong opinions. Sorry bout that.

Ooooo, can I use wingdings? cause that would be fun lol, I want my character name to be (symbol for bomb)... but then I might have a change of heart and be known as, the symbol formally known as bomb... oh dont worry, i will just end up going back to (symbol for bomb) anyway >.< lol

I kinda took what you were saying out of context, and it was alot of fun doing it ^^

I dont mind the caps or the underscore at all that much because they names are still readable.

But with symbols it takes me sometimes a good while to figure out what the name is. Oh and it can be a major pain to spell out the name if its in symbols, not to mension time consuming.

I personally would not want Chinese characters in the game. They are very specific to one language. Where as the English characters are used widely across many languages!!

Even more so the majority of people cannot type or even view these characters properly. And even though we can't understand it, quite a few can't even distinguish between different characters (not easily memorable for people who have no understanding of the language.)

It is known that some players in MY-EN use it their advantage!

I also feel enabling the characters creates a big divide across the players...

Finally this game is based in the USA, whereas there are other Perfect Worlds based in China/Malaysia etc. Meaning it is not like they cannot find another server/game that uses their language.

But, I wanted to be called xXxxXxۣIlilillil D:
Not really, of course. Symbols are annoying. Plus, hackers can spam them in their name and make it near impossible to report them. Random capitals are ok though imo.

Actually, you just click, right click, then report. No typing needed.

International = multilingual, not english. ;)

I'd say let names have only a-z, A-Z (and maybe spaces) but allow unicode chat so everyone can speak the language s/he wants.

I would like to only see latin alphabets used in names (and not even accentuated letters) The duplicate name function is too clumnpsy to be used efficiently. And you cannot use it if the name is not shown in the chat window. Capitals lettter are a must I think. I don't weant to see names all starting with small letters anyway.

And only english should be used. Otherwise, how can you know if a name or something said in global chat is right or not?

If I was to say something bad in swahili, would the GMs recognize it as such?

Yes this is an international community, but as such we must all use the same language, otherwise it will become a mess.

You do realize it won't happen? no matter what you do to block them from speaking their language, they will find their way around it - similar to bypassing a chat filter.

For example if someone wanted to speak japanese or russian on this server (i can speak both, well jp only a little, and am living in germany :P ) they could just use english letters to do this.

Regardless, I think they should encourage the use of the standard a-z letters and not allow the use of the symbols. Although it looks cool to have the symbols I don't think it goes with their new design. If they have taken the time to rename the classes..why have the foreign symbols?

i got a bit off-topic with my post, i was speaking about the ingame chat, not character names.
as i said above, names should only have a-z, A-Z and maybe spaces allowed
the chat system should stay unicode though.

actually, the scenario you describe above will no longer be possible. we're taking measures against that one.

Since the international language IS English I disagree with you. PW-MY said that it was the malaysian english version hence why chinese characters could be used in names and guilds. Now we're in the proper international version, so English is going to be the main language.

No one can be forced to speak english in game of course but heck I know you agree with me for the name and guild character thing because thats the part were it realllllllly gets annoying
