NoI'm not a fan of the forum in its current state however I also know that it's pointless to decorate the walls before a house is built. As someone said the forum looks as bland as they were back in '08 yet they were refined. Maybe we should give the PWI team time to decorate the walls of this forum.0

Venus... you know I like you a lot, i had the chance to met you in game and talk with you a lot and I know you are really nice... but... seriously... they made you sign a contract or something stating that you have to do a brave defense of every mistake PWE does?
No, i just happen to be the kind of person who tries to takes things in from all perspectives before judging something. Which means sometimes I'll agree with stuff that PWE does, even if the rest of the players don't. And sometimes I'll agree with the players, regardless if PWE doesn't like it. I have publicly disagreed with PWE on numerous occasions. In this circumstance, I have been in charge of implementing major changes before on a business level. There is always a blow back against change. Always. I think it is simply way too early to tell if these forums will ultimately be good or not. As I said earlier in the page, ATM I greatly prefer the other website. In fact, I strongly dislike Vanilla. I don't think it should have been implemented in the first place. However, what's done is done.
I will need to see the final product before I can say definitively that these are worse, at least from a user perspective. And it is certainly not as easy as you guys make it out to be to just revert it back. A lot of time and resources have been devoted to this. A lot of people have worked really hard on it. I think they at least should get a chance to finish fixing it before I decide whether or not it's good or not. It's not fair to compare an unfinished launch product to a final version. And to revert it back immediately just because we don't like it.....a lot protest from change comes at the beginning of any product. It doesn't matter if the new thing is genuinely better. At first people will complain, if those complaints sustain even after they have finished it and we have gotten a chance to get used to it. Then alright, maybe then we can talk changing it back. But it's way too early for that.0 -
Noas much as I like the way the old forums looked and worked, tbh let's give these new forums some time to be worked on and improved. Yes, atm posting a forum sig is....well a bit of work, but now we can use our own custom icons. I agree the background layout needs a tad bit of an overhaul, but in time I would expect that it will get updated a bit.
now i'm not entirely sure if the employees that work for/on arc forums and the pwi employees are one in the same or not. But I going to ...guess that they aren't. So...if that is the case, hopefully the "arc" people will get things adjusted in such a way that either they've made these forums easier to look at or provide us the option to customize how we see forums as far as colors and such.
oh...somewhat off topic, but...what is the status of our old forum friend...SweetieBot...she get retired?0 -

They need to enable the API on the forum for SweetieBot to function. There's a thread on it here.0 -
I'd make a long comment, but Venus already said everything I'd want to say on the matter.
So in short: I'm not a fan of Vanilla or the current state of the forums, however I'm willing to give them time to fix everything up before making a final judgement on the place.(Insert fancy image here)0 -
NoYea I'm not too big on this new design but it is functional so w/e.0

No, but it's not fair to launch an unfinished product and shove it down people's throat a-la Ubisoft / EA style, which is exactly what has happened.
It's a mindset like that which allows companies such as those to exists, because "oh don't worry, they will fix it eventually, sometime soon."
And then they keep doing it over and over, but to bigger degrees.
It's not fair to judge something because it's not the final version? How about not forcing it onto people then if you don't want to be judged?
You don't shove an unfinished product onto everyone and basically forcing people to alpha/beta test a piece of **** because MUH SPENT RESOURCES, horrible excuse.
It's a bad business practice.
It does matter if the new thing is better or not, you don't go from something that is bad to something that is far worse and needs user fixes to actually be accessible.
They should have tested it more and properly, fix critical bugs at least and then attempt to migrate. But not in the way they did it now.
But hey, it's PWE what did anyone expect from it.
And on a final note, this entire discussion is pointless because it is what it is.The only fitting image for this forum.0 -
NoMeh, it's pretty standard practice in the industry. Other games ship their entire game out unfinished. This is just a forum, it could really be worse. Look at Assassin's creed. At any rate, as I said, I don't disagree that they should have fixed it first. As I said before, I was very much against this migration happening at this time. I fought against it. But I'm a player, not an employee. So I don't have much say. I don't disagree that it shouldn't have happened, so I don't think it's people like me that causes these things. The biggest reason games are shipped unfinished, and patched nowadays, is preorders. I almost NEVER preorder. And I can go into big long rants about them. I fought against this happening now. I ranted to any PWE employee who would listen to me. When the first migration date was posted, I ran straight to the GMs and showed them every last thing people were doing in there.
I did what I could and it shipped anyway. But, the question being asked isn't should it have been done. But should we just all run back, right now. And I don't think the solution is to migrate all over again. I think the solution rather is to fix what we have now. The resources are spent, the work is done. The fixes are rolling in. Why throw that all away just because the launch wasn't perfect? Most times a company changes it website it doesn't go over well in the beginning, that's not a sign that it won't get better and that people won't get used to it. That's just people being people. Time will tell if we should go back, in the meantime we might as well wait for the fixes. Who knows, this website could be even better than what we had before once everything is said and done. That custom version of vbulletin was broken and outdated anyway. They always had problems with it.0 -

what old forums? No point, as there are no old forums to go back to.
I love how you put that ^w^
As much as I miss the old Forums (Especially for the OP post preview it gave you "once you put the pointer over it" unlike this version) it is still gone now and only exists in the "mirror versions" that peeps made of it...

To say it needs the API to run is a bit of an exaggeration. While having the API enabled would make it easier, @nrglg has figured out how to make it work without the API. The amount of work it will take is the only issue, and that's up to @asterelle as to how much work they want to put into it to get it running here.0 -

Just like it'S not my job to refer this game to my friends... like I ever would, I tell them to run from it.
And they listen !
Well, I'm glad you can use your influence to turn people away from a game they might enjoy.
Maybe it's time for you to move on, then?
The problem really isnt the game, which is glitchy af but its not really the problem. The problem is this company, it all comes down to this company. If I am asked bout this game, I wont suggest it but not because they game is bad but because company running it is sht.0 -
YesThe problem is, none of the links work anymore for quest guides or ANYTHING else I have tried to use. I have to find questionable sites that have the information I USED TO GET FROM THESE FORUMS!0

Nou really think cause u make a poll and the most of the votes r yes we will get the old forum back? LOL0

Hi this seems easier to use that the older format. I am on Sanctuary member of Meteora faction and that is my Cleric Donnd in portrait.0

YesHere's a great illustration:
Let's say you are interested in the Token of the Seven quest chain.
Here's your link from the new forum's "comprehensive list of guides"

YesI know it's impossible to return to old forum, but this one is really pain to read. There are million of possibilities which look better and work stable. Why vanilla?..0

Nogood now we have ugly forum
That's why I wanted green text on a black screen so it can remind me of the old terminals and first personal computers. But somehow "my coin" would go to the 'bring my beer'-button so I can keep watching this forum and not having to get a bottle myself. Won't happen.... sad...

what old forums?out of curiosity (and maybe to point out the futility of any community suggestion) i clicked on that thread only to find out that i voted.. i am pretty sure i didn't vote, wtf0
-
I would vote Yes return to the old Forums, but that will never happen.
Why yes? I absolutely 'HATE" the new forums! Not only are they ugly, but as was stated above, links to things in the "Guides" are now useless! I had dozens and dozens of links to the old Forum pages for quest info and many other things that I have been using for years to help people throughout the server when they had questions. I even use to send people a copy of the links so they could keep them and help others if needed. I do not have the time or patience to search the new forums to find all the pages I had links to and link to them again. The one I did find still has the links that the OP made for all to use but, they are useless and simply take you back to this new Forum. What a waste of time most Guides currently are thanks to PW!0
