Any possible way to download and install PWI without Arc?

My old computer died, so I'm needing to reinstall everything.I had Arc, but encountered a lot of problems with it in the past, so I'm weary of installing it again. I tried searching around, but any links I found were very old/didn't work.

If anyone has any suggestions, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thank you :)

Yep. I cover it in detail in my sticky thread in the Technical Support forum.

Edit, for downloading the client, you'll need either Arc, or a friend to copy the files from. I don't have any urls for a manual download atm. On the plus side, they've made a lot of improvements to Arc, but if you're using an aging PC and Windows XP/Linux/Mac, then you may be SOL. It's way past time to be mainstream. =P

Thanks for the reply SylenThunder :)

My new computer is MUCH better than my old one lol!

    My current system is:

    Intel i5 2.90 GHZ
    8GB RAM
    2 TB disk space
    Windows 7 Pro 64-bit
    Graphics: GT640 2GB DDR3

It may not be great compared to some other people's systems, but for me it's light years better than what I was running b:chuckle So running Arc shouldn't be a problem...BUT I don't like it >.>

I'll head over to your sticky thread to check it out. IF I cannot find anyone to get the files from and I'm forced to download Arc to just get the client, can I uninstall Arc after I've installed PWI? My old hard drive is, I was told, on the verge of death, so I'm unable to retrieve anything off it at the moment. I'm having to do clean installs of everything I had (what a nightmare).

    Thank you so much.

I'm really not too concerned about PWI's wonderful promos. I can live without them :p

All i really want to do, is play without having to use Arc. I really don't like it >.> If I have to use it to get the client, then fine, but I'm hoping I can remove it once I've installed the game, and still be able to play. b:sad

It is possible to make a client short cut that bypasses arc b:chuckle I have a shortcut set up for it, though I don't use it. I tend to keep arc openly mostly to roam the forums.

I appreciate everyone's help :) I do know about the various workarounds, but this is a fresh install of pwi, and no pwi files exist on my computer.

I was wanting to download and install the game without even touching Arc..ever. My friend sent me his elementclient.exe, but that wasn't enough. I didn't think it would be, I just wanted to give it a shot. No idea what other files I'd need.

I know people have been saying that Arc isn't so bad...while others simply can't stand it. It's just one more program that I don't think is needed to play a game. So many gaming companies are having us download their "all in one" programs to access their games in one place. To me, it's just additional **** that isn't necessary. i don't need an additional program to access one company's games, nor does anyone else.

I guess if I want to play PWI again, I am forced to download Arc, since I have no clue what is required to install the game without it. Decisions, decisions .

I dont like having useless programs on my PC too, but if its necessary I guess there is no choice for us.
At least ypo dont have to do much, just start ARC and start PWI. It is simple and no resource taken from ARC. Also you can get free stuff sometimes.
Its not the end of the world.

PS I dont like steam either b:laugh

You run the patcher.exe file with the same arguments to bypass arc as your would the client.

I know this thread is slightly old, sorry >.>. Didn't feel I should make a whole new one.

Which files would I need exactly?

And what would happen if i uninstalled Arc after installing the game? Probably would lose everything. But doesn't hurt to ask. :/

    Thank you.

Edit:I have no idea why it says "battle of immortals user" under my avatar. I dont play that game lol.

You can have my blessing lol. o:)

No, without Arc it isn't possible to redeem but as fas as I know 'we' abused redeemcodes too much. The sheepquest in North Archo gives a nice 1-hour blessing or whatever it's called.

Can we stay on topic please? The OP clearly stated he/she does not care about redeeming anything. Obviously anyone not wanting to use Arc are aware they cannot redeem codes, etc.

Back on topic: If anyone has any suggestions on which files are needed, I'd sincerely appreciate it.

    Thank you.

AFAIK, you would need the entire set of PWI operating programs, some 10GB of data. I suppose you could try with just the patcher folder, and see if it will DL the rest, but I doubt it.

My advice would be to download ARC, then use it to DL PWI. After you have PWI on your HD, you can just bypass ARC and never start it again....or delete it...or whatever. Just because you use ARC to make the initial DL doesn't mean you have to keep it afterwards.

    @sereneai: Thanks for the reply.

I figured that was really my only option. I wasn't sure if deleting Arc would cause problems. I suppose it doesn't hurt to try.

    Thanks again :)

    Yup, as daymond said.

Arc will be here forever. Should add one more thing: unless we stop being PWI-addicted. Personally I only start Arc to update the client like most of my friends do. We just use the 'startbypatcher'-thingy since no one uses the forum while playing. Then I know someone who uses Arc on 1 computer, using an external drive. He can use the files on his old XP computer to play PWI.

To answer the reply from honeychyld71: this thread is not only to help the topicstarter. People sometimes search for the same question "PWI without Arc" and they will be given a bunch of webpages like this one. By doing it now they could end up with this 'new' thread. If the topicstarter 'honeybeegirl' (damn... another honey...lol) had chosen to search without using this forum he or she (think you're using 2 accounts for this topic) should already had an answer. But now for your question: which files are needed? (in this case the off-topic question): There should only be some textual changes however things that have changed in last update: update.log/tempfile.dat/version.sw in config/element, the update.log in config/launcher, Update.cfg and update.log in config/patcher, all the pck files and the patcher.ini in the Element folder. When you leave out all small files you should end-up with a complete PWI folder. Also I don't think the pck files are all updated only for some localization-changes.In the past people used torrents to copy the game. I don't know if that still exists. For now I think you'll need around 9,95GB/482 folders/4080+files to copy the complete folder. Easier and much faster to just use Arc to update the game.

edit: changed 'als' into 'as' in first line.
