[Maintenance Discussion - Updated]-8-19-14 COMPLETE

I'm putting this thread up for tomorrow's maintenance 8/19/14, since it will be going longer than usual (will also start an hour earlier).

As you know, tomorrow's the big update! With that said, I'll post back in here tomorrow with all the patch notes.

For now, maintenance will go from 10PM PDT - 4AM PDT (Subject to change).

I saw something about a gold cap so the 4m AH limit might be removed.

Worst thing they could ever do. At least in real life markets are controlled to some degree by feds and interest rates. there so called "coin sinks" are garbage and this would not be the proper fix for coin sinks. and i have seen plenty try to back saying "the market will even out". except it didnt. and it wont in this case. it will just keep hitting the max they set.

The game that I last played started off with $1 of their "gold" being valued at 1m. In the last 5 or 6 years it's crept up to $1 being worth 100m.

Granted that game is far more popular and has more players but that's the direction most games go. The ratio just continues to grow.

Again I'm not sure about it... I just noticed a new config setting called:
"EnableCeilPriceBeforeDiscountToGold = 1"
It's not clear what that setting would do but since it's set to 1 and not 0 maybe they are thinking of removing the limit in the future.

From the naming of it it could also be the removal of the 200m max coin value cap in your AH. That would be awesome.

The removal of the cap itself would be a reason to quit. The gold prices are no where near 4m in china so that must be a "fix" only for our version and if so then **** PWE for trying to **** us even more!

well i guess I will just have to wait and see. I know i shouldnt pre-judge before something is actually out. but track record speaks for itself.

Ah I need to add something. They have alrdy icnreased the limit once to 3.999.000 so there has to be another line of code that states that number, Otherwise I think it could really be the AH fee as well...or like I have said the max coin limit in AH(200m currently).

Is there another line of code associated to the line you've found?

OFC, you can do that. Just don't install it til maint or you wont be able to login.

Havent you read all those threads where i and others explained that the cap on gold price wont help anything at all ? I thought you'd be smart enough to understand. Of course they should remove that silly 4m cap.

OFC some ppl would sell gold outside of AH for more then 4m. But not all. Most ppl want instant money. So they would still use the AH. Best example was sunday morning on morai. Someone bought over 1k Golds leading to the gold prices being at 3m straight for a few hours.

At least on Morai...the gold prices would never exceed 4m if the cap stays in place. Dunno how it is on other servers. our ppl are lazy and dont wanna wait. usually a downside of a regular customer...but merchants and Sellers as well can fall into this if money is needed quickly.

Although I don't understand why they put that much efort into Neverwinter as PWI is still their most succesful game to date.

Sure PWI is somewhat outdated but imho is still a way better game then Neverwinter ever will be.

Even if PWI ends I would rather go to another Publisher then PWE simply because I don't wanna find myself in the same situation with, let's say Neverwinter, in about 5 years as we currently are with PWI. Some people never learn (in this case a whole company) so I can just assume that it will be the exact same.

Would be way more profitable for them to update PWI to the latest version of the Angelica-Engine..but meh.

I understand maintenance starts on the 19th, but that's like 2 hrs before Midnight and lasts till way after. The update would be considered "released" after maintenance is over and content is online right? So the 20th.
This release-date was heck confusing since many were expecting it to be released today already as is continuesly announced the 19th. Neither the US timezone or EU timezone is able to play the new update on the 19th so why announce the date on which the server goes into maintenance, instead of the actual date of when the update is Live.

No harm done, we still get it tomorrow, but just a future reference to name the date of which players get the new content, not when gm's get to work with maintenance.

That is strange, I swore we still were the 19th at the time I write this. *checks windows time a Xth time...
yep, we are still the 19th, at least for my time zone.

I expect the servers to be back in some hours, unless it takes a whole day for it to be back, in which case you could legitimately start a riot (just kidding).

Besides that, it's clearly stated that the end of maintenance is to be announced, so yeah, better find a way to kill time before the gates are raised again. b:bye
