Hi!
I'm relatively new to PWI Harshlands so there are new players joining every day. Perhaps there should be more ways to retain players/attract players on break to return? I understand this is not a suggestion thread but I would like to say the area I feel needs the most improvement is the player interaction, such as between factions, within a faction.
A true party matching system would be wonderful where players can open a window and start a squad or join a squad instead of relying on world chat and friend lists only. I do know ppl tend to put requirements in squads (like g16 weapons only) so perhaps setting requirements to enter a squad room would be ok then? (Personally I dont agree with equipment requirements). That was the most striking feature when I first started PWI. Yes, there is a squad window but that is very limited. I'm referring to a window where one can start a squad room among other squad rooms and anyone can join/exit from that list of squad rooms and be invited from anywhere with the ability to chat while in the room. (Perhaps with requirements to enter room).
This would also ease the soloing burden on new players. When I started I almost never had squads to exp with.
Thanks!0 -

Well in my oppinion this would help mainly because you wont be able to house mostof the OP people on the server under one roof (Infamous) because the limit is 200. Or cross server TW that could be fun and unexpected pin infamous finest agianst another servers finest the would be a long TW id love to see.0 -

Infamous would just kick the inactives or put them in Catalyst, get rid of the random one shots from Domino. Although it would be hilarious to watch some Infamous try to convince the top players from other servers to listen to them and abandon their factions to join for next to no personal benefit. Other factions with more honest leadership might gain a few members by actual help and charisma.
However, the influx of new factions/players would be nice. I'd especially enjoy fighting some of LC's PvPers and seeing some of them put a few overly arrogant people in their place.
I wouldn't care if the servers were merged as long as it stayed PvP. No reason to play a carebear MMO.Sometimes snarky, but will always bake you cupcakes.0 -

I don't know, I remember the OP complaining on Dark's forum about people leaving and joining Infa and he was saying ''Jekel's **** must be delicious everyone is sucking on it'' and he's now sucking on it too, maybe LC's players would like a piece of Jekel's rainbow ****.

Pretty sure they already said they wont do a server merge.
Even if they did, do you honestly think that PWI would do it successfully?
They have a hard time resetting a server without ****ing everything up.
If the player base becomes to low to support keeping a server up and running they will shut it off, plain and simple. They don't put money or thought into promoting PWI, they wont put money or thought into merging it.
PWI is the ****ty old first car you bought. You love it, you put some money into it, but the time comes when you realize it just isn't worth it. It becomes more cost efficient to just let it go until it dies, then you call up an Armenian tow truck driver to come get it out of your driveway.0 -

It won't.
I'm sorry, don't mean to be a downer cause lord knows I've complained about people who've quit but don't move on who complain about the game, or I've told people to stop being hysterical cause they constantly say "game is dying," but I do believe this game is on it's last legs and this is likely the last season people'll get enjoyment out of (if at all). UNLESS the next update does a fantastic job of addressing some issues, then this game has some serious issues that'll kill it.
1) Everything's done it's course. It's been out long enough that the servers are all broken records and there's not much that can be done about it. I'd love to provide Infamous with some competition (not out of hate or anything, out of neccesity to keep things interesting) but I honestly don't really see any working options left. A server merge would BRIEFLY remedy this until a guild had a clear advantage over others, and more importantly it wouldn't remedy...
2) The economy is royally boned. Farming is rather limited, as is trade. There simply aren't enough TRADEABLE resources on the market in high demand to support the economy. The result is inflation and a difficult to control galloping economy on the way, with the only options being to cash shop or to no-life this game, with no-lifing becoming less and less viable as the game shows weakness and no sign of recovery; no one is going to invest heavy hours in a game that doesn't seem to have longevity. And how doesn't it have longevity?
3) The spirit system basically shuts out potential new players. With spirit as it is, it will take a new player - EVEN a heavy cash shopper who knows no self-control and sells four mansions to pay for his CSing habit - a good three months to be up to par with players to the point where they can actually COMPETE without being oneshot. No one in their right mind is going to invest that much time and cash into this game when they can't really experience the PVP until then and know if it's worth the time and money. PWI is expecting people to hit 100, rebirth, hit 100 again, do new map dailies, rebirth and hit 100 again, continue doing new map dailies and farm Warsong for r9rr or N3 all before they can even realistically compete with others. Before any of these steps are completed, that player is essentially a oneshot to the established players who've played since before spirit was created.
The result is you've got an MMO that discourages new players from joining, which discourages people from farming and investing heavy time in this game (which is neccesary with the current economy), which just stagnates everything. I'd be tempted to say this is all planned to purposefully kill the game faster while making a buck of it's last legs, all so that the servers can be taken offline sooner. Mind you though, MMOs don't die slow so I expect the game will see 2016, but I just do NOT see any real value in playing unless an update address these issues. I'll log in for TWs, sure, but I'm not gonna waste time farming or trying to find PK as things stand now. PWI needs a new farming source, PWI needs a change to how spirit is acquired (honestly just kill the PvE acquired spirit entirely and make cards more accessible), and THEN PWI needs to merge servers to help encourage some change within the stagnant nature I'm sure each server is experiencing.
What discourages me from even attempting to believe this game will recover...? If they wanted to fix the economy for example, they'd make cards tradeable. This would do so much for the game as it'd encourage trade AND farming because very FSP run would be considered a chance to strike it rich rather than make a measely 2-3mil. As it stands, CSers are effectively not interacting with non-CSers beyond buying some C card fodder. A healthy economy is an economy where money is constantly flowing in and out of people's pockets; it's like a river that flows by a hydroelectric dam and generates power. Less flow = less power, and in this case, less flow = an unhealthy economy. That's exactly what we have as people all have their sights set on NW gear or cards. The few tradable resources like SoTs and DoTs/DoDs will obviously spike in price, and even things like TT and Nirvana gear will suffer as discouraged players create less and less alts. NW prices continue to crash as it's farmed to oblivion, and the remainder? The remainder is that people gear up SLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWW and become unsatisfied with the lack of progress they're seeing.
That could all be fixed to an extent if they simply made cards tradeable. Any random hobo would have a chance of striking it rich with a Nuema Portal card, and CSers would also enjoy the ability to buy the damned things directly from other players. But no, they don't do this. Why? Because as said, maybe this update was actually geared towards shortening PWI's lifespan...who knows.I AGOREY0 -

Apparently wampire is, though I got a question though. Why do you think pwi will survive until 2016? From what I've seen we've lost at least half the player base since I've left. Well went inactive in game. I'd say pwi will close down on it's next anniversary or early 2015.0 -

MMOs are like zombies.
Besides, as soon as the first pack flood happened, people started predicting PWI wouldn't last to see it's second anniversary.(Insert fancy image here)0 -
I think most reasonable people have already quit by now. There's no real competition or fun left in the game atm. The only ones left are mostly old vets who've sunk countless time and money into the game but aren't willing to move on.
You have to be pretty much a hardcore **** to enjoy this game - 2% of the time it CAN be insanely fun, but the other 98% of the time is spent suffering massive disappointment/frustration and boredom.
Decent pvp is so rare that when it happens it feels like some sort of special, once-in-a-lifetime event.
HOWEVER if they merged HL with LC i would definitely at least come back for a little while, if only to enjoy the temporary spike in pvp/TW.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

If she's talking to me then I'm truly confused as to how she thought that post was all about Infamous. They were like a god damned footnote...
And I said 2016 because MMOs don't die easily. It's unrealistic to expect an MMO to just magically die out within the course of a year. There's the prospect of new updates, stubborn players who don't want to believe their time and/or financial investment is about to be for naught, those who do stay for friends or community or whatever (I know people who quit this season because their spouse did and their spouse was the sole reason they played), and the company itself probably has certain expectations they have to meet before they can even begin going about to shut a server down without there being legal problems of some kind. FFS look at Elder Scroll online. That thing got abysmal, SCATHING reviews and all sorts of accusations that the subscription and pricing were carefully put in place as a safety net in case the thing fails incredibly quick, and do people play it currently? Yes they do, you can find news articles about it's updates and patches. By all means, I bet that thing dies (relatively) quick and also disappears by 2016-2017 (compare that to PWI's what, 7 years of life and counting?), but it's not gonna happen overnight.
In my opinion and mind you I'm only estimating, this season - UNLESS the next update reverses things like spirit or no farming prospects (without serious time investment) - will be the last season that we can expect any degree of enjoyment from the community before a server merge is basically neccesary. That alone could provide an illusion things are improving, but I'd imagine it'd only take 2-4 months (depends on map locations of the powerhouse guilds) for one of the guilds to be established as the dominant one and then it all stagnates again and things become stale. Once that happens, people run out of ideas or illusions of improvement (right now the prospect of a server merge is likely something that encourages people to hold on and wait until it happens and FIXES EVERYTHING!!!), get VERY frustrated to see the end merely delayed and not prevented, and then they lose interest. By that point we'd be at what, mid TW season for the first half of 2015? At least one server would likely be content with the experience post-merge and be ready for another season, but that's it, I'd imagine. Thus they'd go second season 2015 right into 2016 but by then, the company itself will be looking for an exit.
Mind you, it's all a guess and an estimate and it's not like I've got a degree in MMO mechanics or something, so no reason to take my opinion as super informed or anything. This is just my rough estimate.
And for me...? Well, ever since a certain game came out that I've been linking vids to here and there, I've been noticeably less active. I don't exactly believe in officially announcing "I'm quitting" cause Iunno, 1) you look dumb if you eat those words, 2) a good update COULD happen. PWI does have a pretty good head on it's shoulders despite criticisms and has done several good updates in the past, 3) Just not me. I'd be more likely to disappear without a word. But the fact of the matter is that all I really do is keep tabs on if there's any good TW opportunities or upcoming TW battles (I logged in for the last Bankai-Mayhem one) and beyond that I'm just genuinely not motivated to log in. It's a chore: you have to do FSP and primal dailies to keep up with everyone else, as if this game now requires a subscription rather than playing it at your leisure. Why the hell would I take part in that when I could just say "**** it," only partake in the immediately fun parts (TW), enjoy NOT having to juggle classes between a wonky sleep schedule (TW and events are 2AM my time), and other games can provide me with fun without this "subscription" attitude? As I said, I just think PWI needs to address some less convenient issues with the gameplay as it currently is or these inconveniences are going to slowly encourage us ALL to stop playing. I've already heard a good portion of this community is supposedly all involved in a certain Pserver. Why? Cause it's EASIER. No stress of dailies or a slow economy and no stagnant politics. The Pserver is currently inadvertedly "addressing" all the above issues I named, hence people flock there.
So yeah, I know this game has potential -IF- a good update comes, hence why I still poke my head in, but I simply lack the desire to log in currently. So I don't. :P That's what a game is all about: entertainment.I AGOREY0 -
This game still has life left. People are still cash shopping, decent player base, and it's popular in China. We could have some dope PVP again but you have so many players on this server scared of competition/losing. It's pathetic. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kbtG05_M7tE0

I was referring to the more populated servers. I remember reading that they said to many problems would occur, mostly with chars having the same names.
The rest of my post tho, was perfectly valid. If you feel it isn't please explain further.0 -
Fair enough. I'll be less extreme in response then.
When it comes to success... eh... it's not going to be possible to have a completely clean merge if you didn't have things setup in advance with the thought of one in mind. At best, you'd just have a low enough amount of errors that nobody would complain much. Granted, the lack of faith in them is understandable but... eh. Won't speculate one way or the other there.
Them shutting down the servers if it gets too low is natural. Business and all that and at the end of the day if the profits aren't worth the costs then that's what will happen.
I do kinda disagree with the analogy though. PWI's more like... hm.... this. Game and such isn't that bad but... well... the people managing it have kinda screwed it up over time (and the community in turn has contributed to this but that's another discussion and it'd likely be less severe if upper management treated PWI better anyways).(Insert fancy image here)0 -
It's funny how u think that the Infa thingy was towards u Longknife . ( i don't even read what u type cos it's way too much and i think it may be shorter )
Just to make it clear , it was for the people that made Infamous the center of the topic moving away from it's title .
And about the topic , ofc it's time for this game to die since even cards and other parts of gears are like playing at casino , thing that i consider **** . If i want to gamble i play slots or roulette or w/e but not PWI .
Another reason would be, that there are 1 billion new games out there more attractive or that people really don't have time to play anymore .
Still atm i would say HL is 2 % mains and 98% alts .0 -
Wampirewoman - Harshlands wrote: »Still atm i would say HL is 2 % mains and 98% alts .
For having log HT the last week, I can say that it's probably true, on HL there's one fashion shop while on HT there's 20 of them, there was a LOT of players questing in the starting areas, people doing low culti, they have a bunch of new players constantly and everything is active (too much when I see sapphire gems at 50m and it's a PVE server).
The problem on HL it's there's no new players to replace the ones that quit so the population goes down, looks like new players are more interested into the PVE servers, I think people have the fake impression that it's impossible to quest on PVP servers while it's not as bad as people would like to think.
As someone said if HL or any servers become too much expensive for PWE to run then they will probably close it, no idea if they would give a transfer option to keep the players that want to keep playing or not. They should almost expand the account stash to other servers, at that point the economy of PVP/PVE servers is pretty similar (a bit higher though on PVE while it was lower before) so it wouldn't matter economy wise, but then people would be able to pass their gears, but would need to make a new char and level it. (some items would need to have a change and be allowed to stash like the cards, rank equipment etc...)
I don't think PWI will die anytime soon, but HL compare to others servers is dead, we still can find people to do some PVE stuff ofc, but there's almost no shops, sometime people needs months to find a pack item that there's a lot on other servers, I don't know how many times I saw people getting matchless wings on HT in a week while on HL if there's one person getting it in a month it's good.
Nothing much the players can do about it then complain about it on the forum, it's probably annoying for the mods/GM/CM to see people asking for merge, but we are the ones that see how dead our servers are, usually it's the same servers asking for that, I never saw someone from HT asking for a merge, cause HT is alive and keep growing, but some other servers it keeps going down everyday.

Hi!
I'd like to point out that I am a new player and that I do CS and have invested heavily in PWI. While I do not know of the amount that quit or the number of other new players, new players do exist. I like PWI very much, its very well polished after years of updating. However, like i stated before, its the players that make the difference. I'm really saddened though about the one thing I brought up before which was a party matching system. While world chat can work to a certain extent, its really not the same thing.
While I do not have the experience of years with PWI, I do not know what it was like even 1 year or more ago. I've heard and can assume there were many more players then. Regardless, I've seen a few MMOs, (this is not my first, I'm not a noob, I do realize the importance of buffs/debuffs for example), and many have lasted quite awhile. I do expect PWI will live another 5 years at least imo. More if PWI is managed and updated better than now. I can only comment on the social aspect of PWI (party matching), I have no idea how to rework the economy nor would I even try.
A party matching system composed of a window listing all squad rooms players have created or can create allowing players to enter/exit the room for chat and invite into squad would be much better than the system now.
If players have more fun with each other in a PVP or PVE environment that can only lead to player retention, a key factor in survivability of any MMO, even more important than game mechanics.
