I did a bit of research on it after seeing your post, and I can not find anything that points to PWE selling the Arc platform off. The only information I could find on it were a few random posts of people claiming it was happening, or saying that they heard a rumor. I was unable to uncover any substantial data to indicate that there was even a discussion on it at the corporate level.

Yeah, I know exactly how you feel. I'll admit that I haven't been in discussions with the GM's and CM's nearly as much since frankieraye left us, and I know I cut the dev's at Wanmei off about a year and a half ago because they just don't listen, but I doubt much has changed. If I can't find it through the usual sources, there's a good chance it doesn't exist.

To work around the redirect to Arc on any PWE game websites. (As long as the pages still exist.)

1. Get Adblock Plus. (I personally use Chrome, I know it works on Firefox and Safari, not sure about IE.)
2. After it is installed, go to Options, and then click the Customization tab.
3. Click the Edit button under "Manually edit your filters".
4. Enter the following address. "*.perfectworld.com/templates/common/js/global_redirect.js"
Alternatively, you can just put "global_redirect.js" in, but I worry about what that might do to a non-PWE site with a valid redirect script.
5. Click the Save button.
6. Close the options.
7. Go to pwi.perfectworld.com/facebook and get your blessings.

Adblock Plus no longer works after being attacked by the snapdo.com virus. I had to redownload adblock after I reset the firefox browser to get rid of it and now adblock plus no longer blocks anything.

Might be a FireFox thing. It's working fine for me in Chrome still. I'll have to test FireFox. I don't use it that often.

Edit: FireFox worked fine for me too.

Now -this- is actual hacking. Seeing what makes an app tick and making some in-depth adjustments to make it do what you want it to.

As for adblocker - resetting firefox probably disabled the adblocker plugin. Check your addons and enable where appropriate.

Blocking is not the same as hacking. The programs for adblocks (legit ones) hardly related to cracking codes with your bare hands.

I already said I had re-downloaded it. Unfortunately when you have an annoying problem like this http://www.techsupportall.com/how-to-remove-snap-do-search-from-chrome-firefox-ie/ adblock does not work. Adware is a pain in the ***. I figured it found it's way onto my PC somehow. Actually, I am manually hacking the code for Arc. (Which I think is what Evryn was referring to.) Though I haven't had a lot of free time to play with it lately. I'll probably set up a script on a spare PC and have it try to decrypt the code on the xml files though, just because it's a pain.

Oh that, ok thought he was talking about the blocking. But dude, PWE needs to make exception to the freakin rules and hire you already! Forget the stupid out-of-state deal. At least your efforts to try and understand and also to at least see how to improve this ARC, which is still useless in my opinion, has been great.

Just an update, due to weather, a cold, the renewal of interest in the game and striving to reach R9, I've kind of put this work on the back burner a bit. So far my scripts haven't managed to crack the encryption code though. Further analysis beyond the basic functionality might not be feasible any longer.
(I really need to get my laptop running again because it's got half my tools on it.)

Yeah the bad thing about breaking encryption even if you know the type, it could take 5 mins or 5m years to break

I have a question, if anyone knows the answer...

After reinstalling Arc, it finally allowed me to add PWI manually, but in the Library it just sees it as ElementClient. Does that mean it isn't properly installed into Arc and won't update correctly, or is that okay? Or maybe I did something wrong?

Just curious if this is normal. I figured it would show up as the proper game.

What's wrong with your laptop? Is the hard drive itself ok? If it is, you could always just pull out the harddrive and put it in an enclosure to hook it up to your main computer via USB and move the files over.

I bought it originally so I could use the hard drive from one of my dead laptops as an external, but I've found it also to be greatly handy for when I want to move data between any of my laptops to desktops, or laptops to laptops.
