Just making sure, I don't want to put words in your mouth.
It has nothing to do with standing up for anything.
PWE wants you to have an active e-mail so they can send you newsletters and whatnot. They also often send coupons or bonus zen coupons as far as I can remember.
Another big reason is the case of being **** or banned; you didn't even respond to that comment.
If they ask you to register an e-mail address to an account then it usually is because they use that e-mail for various reasons. In this case it's newsletters, announcements and other things. Nothing stops PWE from finding other uses for it in the future and in this case it's the sending of the anniversary gifts.
Whether I or anyone else agrees or disagrees with this action (sending gifts via e-mail) has nothing to do with keeping an active e-mail or not.
I'm sorry but you really sound like you don't want to be bothered changing your accounts' emails to active ones and you also imply that you've given out false information when creating either your PWI accounts or your past e-mails. These are just the consequences you're facing for your actions. The company is not punishing you for anything.
If you know you can't remember information, simply write it down. You can never be sure of what may happen in the future. For example, I have written down all the security questions for all the accounts I've made.[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]

Meh, part of being an adult is keeping track of your various accounts and their information, regardless of what you do. If something expries, replace it. I do feel bad for the kiddies or people made it younger but are more grown now. Use it as a learning lesson. Life isn't always fair but sometimes there are things you can do to make up for it. Like keeping track of your accounts and such. Especially any thing that does or may in the future involve you real life money. Nobody's fault but your own if you do not keep up with it. I hope that this rectifies the problem they had in the past with them, where tons of people didn't get one while may others got tons. I will miss the page telling you when your join date was though.0

Sharki - Dreamweaver wrote: »Of course it doesn't to you, as you are one of the posters that is attacking. Specifically, putting the blame on players who do not have access to their email(s) for one reason or another.
I'm not attacking you or anyone here. If my post came out as such well, might be my writing style I guess?
Nowhere did I say I support PWE sending the anniversary gifts via e-mail but not having an active e-mail or not being able to save information of accounts is something that has nothing to do with the very action but the very fact that you may run into problems in the future.
This is just a game really and a mere bunch of pixel gifts but like Venus has said it's a lesson to be learnt. You may be making important accounts in the future and you shouldn't neglect information or e-mails tied to said accounts.I did respond, and I said that those situations are irrelevant to the current topic.Of course nothing stops them, but the problem lies with the expectations of players. If they WANT protection from hacks, or to receive freebies, or anything that one would expect an email for then sure, they should keep an email.
Nobody likes spontaneous changes but the reason people "attacked" you as you put it is because of the exact reasons you said here. You say I'm asserting an "just in case" situation but if something does happen you'll find yourself regretting.
Here's one example; I don't do illegal things in-game but one day I found my second account banned which turned out to be an accident/mistaken report.
I really hope nothing bad happens to your accounts honestly. If you think taking measure for possible things going wrong is not necessary well, to each and their own.I find it very offensive that you can blame the forgetful or ones that easily lose things so easily like this. Are they not entitled to enjoy the same benefits of this game as well? It's bad enough they have to remember their user name and password for every log in.
I'm a forgetful person and I have accounts in various places and websites and that is precisely why I write them down. How is that offensive to forgetful people? I'm one of them myself.[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]

But the problem is that they never really got the anni page to function corrently. Every single year that they used it we have had issues. Some people got tons of stuff. Some people got nothing at all. Some people could never access the page. And sometimes it inadvertantly broke the Jones page.
They are changing their method of giving out gifts because the original method never worked properly. I can't say I prefer the email method (though I wrote down all of the random gmails that I created for my multiple accounts) but I can see why they are doing it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I can actually confirm this. During the Sirens of War expansion giveaway the page bugged and I received my gift right after I signed up for it whilst everyone else received it on the day of the launch (or didn't receive it at all) x.x
I'm neutral to this change but I just hope this time it will work like it should.[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]

I do feel for those who cannot remember their old account information in order to receive their gifts, but its hopefully a much more cleaner method of obtaining the anniversary gifts. Lets face it, truly, the previous years have experienced some trouble with people getting their gifts and all sorts of broken glitches that affected even the DQ and Blessing pages.
I do hope that the email method works out better. You still have a few days to change your emails, I believe.0 -

You don't have to send a ticket by email. If you can login, you should be able to submit a ticket. Just tell them you don't have email access, it can be handled without that. Just go here: https://support.perfectworld.com/app/ask0 -

I have addressed it in my last post, but if you want a more direct answer, I shall give it to you. In the case of hacking, it's a problem which is common knowledge and a risk that players should be well aware of if they decide to toss their email away. But the difference between that situation and the anniversary one is that the anni prizes being sent via email wasn't anticipated.Desdi - Sanctuary wrote: »Nobody likes spontaneous changes but the reason people "attacked" you as you put it is because of the exact reasons you said here. Sharki - Dreamweaver wrote: »Lessons can be learned without loss. I do not see how a lesson learned at a loss is better than gaining appropriate knowledge of the situation ahead of time and making a decision accordingly. Is it an emotional thing...?
Just as lessons can be learnt without a loss, lessons can be learnt with a loss. Neither is better than the other but both can happen.
PWE did inform us about changing or updating our e-mails ahead of time (was it about a week or so?) though if you're pointing towards this direction by saying gaining knowledge ahead of time. But the difference between that situation and the anniversary one is that the anni prizes being sent via email wasn't anticipated.Because we're only human. Faulting yourself for not being perfect is very irrational.
I was merely suggesting to write down information that will be certainly forgotten in the future. This has nothing to do with being perfect or not.
If you lost information or forgot information there's nobody to blame but yourself so next time you write it down O.o What's wrong with writing things down?
I know people are frustrated and like I said, nobody likes spontaneous changes. It wasn't anticipated indeed but PWE also never hinted at the e-mails just being there for no reason. They've been sending newsletters and other things which indicate that they actively use the e-mails of players to send them things. I wasn't surprised they did this but I questioned why they did this sudden change.
I just find arguments of "I can't recover my e-mail because I forgot this and that" or other reasons not to be valid points when trying to convince a company to change their methods. Your e-mail is your responsibility as are the accounts you create.
I understand people who lost their e-mails and what not but the option to change your e-mail to an active one has been there. When my old e-mail became inactive I changed it to an active one long before this. If people want to avoid newsletters and whatnot, they can have a gaming e-mail they use only for games etc.
Anyhow, this is way too derailed so I'll stop here.[SIGPIC]http://i.imgur.com/MtwcqjL.png[/SIGPIC]

Sharki - Dreamweaver wrote: »I'm well aware of the problems, which is why I suggested to have both methods available. If one doesn't work for a player, the player could simply attempt the other method. No one's left out that way... or at least a few people left out as possible.
But for anyone that did use the page, there would be problems again as always. I had a friend that got something like 15 anni mounts one year... which of course led to tons of people submitting tickets because it wasn't fair that they only got one, or none. Every single year I knew of at least one person that got multiple gifts. It was really unfair to everyone else and I'm sure that's just one thing they want to avoid.
What they probably could get away with though, is making it more like the giveaway pages that come with expansions. A big part of their problem is opening the page on the anniversary and having everyone flood it and spam click it at the same time. If they set up a page and opened it a month ahead of time, stating that gifts will arrive in the mail at a certain date but you can enter now, that might work a little better. But they might still have the same issues in the long run. It just isn't a well designed page.
So I do agree email isn't the best option, or the only option, but I also think it is better than their methods in the previous years.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

speaking of auto-response....
There's hardly any manual labor involved. Also, if you want to get onto the true anniversary date, it's not until later in the week anyway.
Just shut up and get over it. You'll get your free stuff, but it's going to take time. You sound like a bunch of old ladies in front of the SafeWay complaining that they're two minutes late opening the store.

Ever stop to think that things have effects that differ from person to person? Or do you even care? Of course not. It's all "lul first world problemz, get over it".
