Michael Vick plays a LA wizard that spams level 6 emberstorm, doesn't have distance shrink or know what zhen is, has occult ice on it's genie, and walks around in glacial embrace.

Seeing as I need level 1 emberstorm to learn blade tempest, I'd consider Emberstorm level 1 a very useful skill as well. f:cute

... every time someone calls Morning Dew a useless skill.

Well, you don't kill puppies any more, but every time you use Emberstorm, a psychiatrist has to explain to a mother why the light and joy has inexplicably died from her baby's eyes, like a dark force came and wiped the very life essence from her child's soul.

I personally don't think Emberstorm was a useless skill. Sometimes, when I'm PVP'ing against a sin, I'd target the nearest mob and double-click it and HOPE MY *** OFF that it hits the sin knocking them out of stealth.

I use demon ember inbetween a pile of ppl fighting to dig in NW, I use it in PVp....pitfall I use before hailstorm since it channels quicker.

The demon version says 50% but it feels more like 80-90%...maybe I'm just lucky ?

Emberstorm is good for knocking sins out of stealth, an instant 20 chi, or to one shot a group of nubs for fun. I can't tell you how hard I laugh by casting ice prison, running into a group of nubz and doing a full charge emberstorm.. with 20k+ hp most the poorly geared targets often times take between 10k and 50k.. definitely good for some laughs :)

No one is questioning whether we should get level 1, and demon is undeniably useful. Even sage has it's uses. However, when a 3k hp r8/tt99 wiz uses it and it's not demon, I kind of want to pull them aside and be like wai you be noobin it up b:surrender

I was restatting my genie today and I almost put occult ice on there just for the heck of it. My genie doesn't have enough affinity points to get the skill combination I want so the last skill slot is interchangeable as far as I am concerned.

4.0 was pretty fun too, too bad using 3fury doesn't help me at all.

I find that more old school wizzies are sage, and more new ones are demon.

I rolled my first wizzie back in '09 and went demon on her, and everyone thought I was crazy since everyone was going sage then. When I decided to make a new sage wiz a year and a bit ago a lot more people were demon and thought that was the "right" decision. Really glad I switched though.

I'm not sure the breakdown on other servers but I'd put money on more sanctuary wizards currently being demon than sage.

In a PK situation it's a difference of playstyle, that's what I think determines cultivation.

Demon allows me to tank nearly everything, and every time I play I have to conserve chi in order to save myself and I can't go and just ulti everything I'll have no chi in order to save myself etc.

Sage allows me to play more aggressively with lots of chiflow and damage, I can go all gung ho and kill everything, dropping ultimates 24/7.

Anyways, I think the worst sin any MG can do is to go LA.b:shocked

Demon allows me to tank nearly everything

I'm getting tired of hearing this. Demon stone barrier reduces physical damage coming in slightly better than sage stone barrier (and sage stone barrier reduces incoming earth damage slightly better than demon stone barrier), but a VAST majority of your survival comes from other sources (gear/skills/genie/apoth).. and I'd be surprised if the difference in survival between the cultivations amounted to even 1% of the total survival of your character. To add to that, sage wizards certainly get more chi and are therefore able to use the immune on sparks more often (and sage spark gives damage reduction.. which demon mages do not have access to).. AND sage wizards are less likely to need to use chi pots or cloud eruption to get more chi, so genie/apoth is more likely to be available for defensive purposes. It is more or less a wash when it comes to survival between wizard cultivations.. I'd probably give it to you if you said demon had a slight survival advantage (although I'm not even convinced this is the case).. but pointing to your cultivation as being the reason you can tank stuff is dumb.

It'd be like me saying I went sage because I want to do damage.. it'd lead an uninformed reader to think that sage wizards have some significant advantage in terms of damage.. which we do not.

The reason I went demon is for extra ability to lock things up. Demon hailstorm / pitfall / emberstorm are lovely.
Demon Stone Barrier had literally no effect on my decision at all, difference is minor.

    But back on topic.
A puppy dies every time you decide to do some pve, and a seeker is there, and they don't think soul shatter is worth using. Makes me feel sad.

After a whole lot of consideration, I take back my earlier statement. We wizards do not live in an ochlocracy, but rather a kakistocracy.

And I chose to be Demon 3 years ago when everyone was going Sage on their wizzies purely because I wanted to be a unique and special little snowflake. There's no fun in blindly following someone else's advice instead of actually experimenting with builds and playstyles of your own. That said, I genuinely enjoy playing as a Demon wizard, even with all the problems it comes with.
