    For the usage of the word...nothing. not really anyway. But we use 'cannot be helped' frequently (especially girls) and Shouganai is how we say it. (At least in my province :p)

    Maybe...but I hear it like that all over Japan. Probably more age/respect related :) (I own my own company and travel a lot but my speech is MUCH more informal than it should be >.<) your learning books and things usually teach formal first :p

    Ah, I see. :D Thanks for that. Yeah I actually learned from a Japanese person but we did learn formal first. Then casual. But I guess she'd been out of Japan a bit too long. xD I'll definitely use it that way instead from now on, I don't want to sound all old and foreign. Not that it can't be helped. xDDD My pronunciation is atrocious and I'm bad at particles.

    XD particles ARE silly. But as for accent...our language has very clear rules on sound (unless it is the end of a sentence or you are trying to sound cute <--b:surrender guilty) But even still we mostly can understand you. It is just the speed you say it that points to foreigner. We speak our language faster than you speak yours is all.
    (My accent in English is just going away. Your symbols can make more then one different sound and that is SO CONFUSING)

    Well I get in trouble with words like ryou (dorm) because its hard for me to make that sound so it comes out sounding either like "R" or an "L" when I overcompensate mentally to correct it. And yeah, I have a problem with speed as well. So kitekudasai (please come) becomes kittekudasai (please cut) although I think in context a Japanese person would understand what I meant. :P >_> it's hard language!

    Most native English speakers aren't competent enough in their own language to properly use commas (or other punctuation for that matter). An appreciable portion of the commas you see in common usage are used incorrectly.

    Very detailed. I could never sit here and explain how to use commas to you, but I seem to be pretty decent at actually using them. English class was a long, long, looooonnnnnggggg time ago for me.

    Thank you all for trying to clear it up! I have been learning Japanese on my own so PWI has been where I learn from. But I always seemed to be wrong when I tried to imitate what they did for commas...silly things (like contractions). But then I am trying to learn from Raging Tides do maybe I should have been expecting this XD
    @Venus in Japan we even make puns over those two words. So we would certainly understand :p I mix them up when I get really hyper around my husband >.< he makes fun of it.

    I hate auto correct. Sometimes, even when I'm using the correct word, it likes to put in a completely unrelated word. Plus, the forums are kind enough to inform you as to when you mispell a word, so you can easily look it up and spell it correctly if need be. It's quite convenient.
